Chapter 227

Noticing her cold attitude, Mitchell gave a bitter smile, realizing he had brought this on himself.

Half an hour later, they walked into a private club in Dawnridge.

After sitting down, Laura looked at Mitchell blankly.

"Mitchell, what do you want to talk about?"

Mitchell looked serious, "Laura, I'm sorry for what I said at the hospital. At first, I wasn't serious about our relationship, but I've fallen in love with you. You..."

Laura cut him off, "Mitchell, if that's all, there's no need for me to stay."

As she got up to leave, panic flashed in Mitchell's eyes, "Laura, please give me a chance. I promise I won't hurt you again!"

But Laura's expression stayed cold, "Mitchell, we're not the same. If we meet again, let's be strangers."

She turned and left. Mitchell watched her go, unable to snap out of it.

Back at the villa, Gianna sat on the couch, replaying Laura's words from the restaurant.

Did Felix really care that much?

She pushed the thoughts away, got up, turned off the lights, and went upstairs. Since she decided to break up, she shouldn't dwell on him.

In the following days, Gianna was swamped with documents and had no time for the Clinton Group.

During her half-month absence from Dawnridge, Hayden started scheming again, trying to profit off MY FASHION.

Since he was beyond redemption, there was no need to keep him in the company!

Gianna called Faith over, handed her a document, and said, "Give this to the legal and let them handle it."

Faith opened the document and saw Hayden had been embezzling money for advertising. Her face flushed with anger.

"How could he be so outrageous!"

No wonder major advertisers had refused to work with MY FASHION. It was all Hayden's fault!

Even though he was her uncle, she wouldn't cover for him this time!

Just as Gianna was about to speak, her phone buzzed.

Seeing it was James, she looked surprised.

As soon as she answered, James's anxious voice came through.

"Gianna, can you come to the Clinton Group now? Felix has been standing in the rain for a whole day and night. He can't keep this up!"

Gianna's expression changed. She got up and walked out, asking, "What's going on?"

"Thomas held a grudge because you and Felix forced a vote to fire some managers. He fired over a thousand grassroots employees. Most of them have difficult family situations and rely on their jobs. Thomas is pushing them to the brink!"

"Felix confronted him. Thomas said if Felix could stand in the rain for three days and nights, he'd let the employees return."

Anger rose in Gianna, 'Thomas didn't care about the Clinton Group or its employees. He just wanted to humiliate Felix!'

She pressed her lips tightly, "I understand. I'm on my way."

Gianna arrived at the Clinton Group an hour later.

Before she even got out of the car, she saw Felix standing in the rain.

He was drenched, water dripping from his short hair, but he stood motionless, like a statue.

It had been raining in Dawnridge for days, and the ground was already soaked. The late fall wind mixed with icy rain hit Gianna's face. Even with an umbrella, she felt the chill.

Standing next to Felix, James saw Gianna and his eyes lit up.

"Gianna, you're finally here! Please talk to Felix!"

But Gianna didn't even glance at Felix. She walked straight towards the Clinton Group with her umbrella.

James was stunned, unsure what to do.

'Why isn't Gianna persuading Felix and heading straight to the Clinton Group?' he wondered.

As Felix sawGianna walk away, her eyes flickered, and he frowned, "I'll handle the Clinton Group's matters myself. If anyone calls you again, just ignore it."

Gianna didn't pause and went straight into the Clinton Group, heading to the top floor to find Thomas, guided by the receptionist.

Thomas was in a good mood. He hadn't expected Felix to actually stand at the Clinton Group's entrance all night and still not leave.

Now everyone could see Felix at his lowest, no longer an unattainable figure but a pitiful wretch begging for mercy!

As he was feeling smug, there was a knock on the office door.

"Thomas, Gianna is here to see you."

Seeing Gianna behind the secretary, Thomas's eyes turned cold, "Gianna, are you here to plead with me too?"

Gianna smiled slowly, "Thomas, you're overthinking. I'm here to make a deal with you."

Half an hour later, Gianna left Thomas's office and went straight downstairs to Felix.

"Those employees won't be fired. You don't need to stand in the rain anymore."

After saying that, Gianna turned to leave.

She had just taken a couple of steps when she heard James's panicked voice behind her.

"Felix! Felix, wake up!"

Gianna turned around to see Felix with his eyes closed, face pale, and lips tightly pressed together, looking utterly miserable. If James hadn't been holding him up, he would have collapsed.

She stood still for a few seconds, then bit her lip and walked towards Felix with a cold expression.

She really owed him!

Seeing Gianna come back to support Felix, James's eyes flashed with joy. He was about to help Gianna get Felix into the car when she handed him her umbrella.

"You hold the umbrella!"

Before he could refuse, James's eyes widened in disbelief.

Gianna had actually picked Felix up!

After taking a few steps, she noticed James wasn't following and turned back to frown at him, "Aren't you coming?"

"Right away!"

He had seen strong women before, but a woman who could easily lift a grown man—other than Gianna, he hadn't seen another.

After getting in the car, it took James a long time to calm down.

Noticing they weren't heading to the hospital, he turned to Gianna, "Gianna, when Felix fainted just now, I noticed he had a fever. We should take him to the hospital for a check-up."

Gianna touched Felix's forehead with the back of her hand and said calmly, "No need. I'll buy some medicine and fever patches from the pharmacy later."

It was just a bit of a chill. Some medicine and a couple of days' rest would do. There was no need to make a big fuss and go to the hospital.

"Oh."

After taking Felix back to Tranquil Haven Estate, Gianna instructed James to buy the medicine while she changed Felix's clothes.

After removing the soaked suit, Gianna noticed Felix's body was burning up. She frowned, found a set of pajamas, and put them on him. Just as she laid him down on the bed, James returned.

"Gianna, I got the medicine."

"Give it to me."

After writing down the dosage and intervals on the medicine box, Gianna stood up and looked at James, "You feed him the medicine and stay here tonight to watch over him."

Hearing this, James looked troubled.

"Gianna, tonight is my three-year anniversary with my girlfriend. If I don't go, I won't have a girlfriend tomorrow. Please take care of Felix!"
