Chapter 29
<Chapter>Chapter Twenty-Nine: Urgent Matter </Chapter>
There was silence on the phone for a few moments until Uriah's voice, sounding cold, finally came through. "Jasmine likes that dress. Tell me how much it costs; I'll transfer the money to you."
Faith was furious, her face pale with anger. "Uriah, what gives you the right to give away my belongings? You have one hour to get my dress back or brace yourself for a letter from my lawyer!"
After slamming down the phone in a fury, Faith thought for a moment and then decided to call Gianna.
"Gianna, I'm so sorry. I left the birthday gift you gave me in that jerk's car last night. I forgot about it after breaking up with the scumbag...
Today, I demanded it back, only to find out the jerk's girlfriend had taken a liking to that dress, and he just gave it to her. I'm fuming! I'm not even sure if I can get it back!"
Hearing this, Gianna couldn't help frowning; she hadn't expected Faith's ex to be such a piece of work.
"Don't worry about the dress. I can design a new one for you. But how do you plan on dealing with their bullying?"
"No, I'll get the dress back. I've already told that scumbag, no return means a lawyer's letter is on its way."
"All right, let me know if you need any help."
"Of course I will!"
Right after Gianna finished her call with Faith, she received a call from one of her employees.
"Boss, we’ve found out who drugged you last night. A guy named Yusuf. But before we could take care of him, he got into trouble and is now in police custody, likely facing time."
Gianna stayed quiet for a moment before replying in a chilly tone, "Send all the evidence you've gathered to the police. Let him rot behind bars for the rest of his life."
"Understood."
In the evening, Felix sent someone to accompany Gianna to a dinner meeting. On the way to the restaurant, Gianna intended to have a calm and composed conversation with Felix during dinner.
As soon as the car stopped at the restaurant's entrance, Gianna's gaze suddenly froze. She stepped out of the car and hurriedly walked up, not far behind Uriah and Jasmine Astor. Once she had a clear view of Jasmine Astor's outfit, Gianna confirmed that the dress she wore was indeed 'Cherished'—the one she had been eyeing!
It looked like she had stumbled upon Faith's scumbag ex-boyfriend and his little mistress, the so-called 'other woman.'
Just as she was about to say something, Felix's calm voice came from behind her.
"What are you doing standing around here? Why not go inside and wait?"
Hearing Felix's voice, the two in front turned around. A hint of surprise flashed in Uriah's eyes. "Felix, I didn't expect you to dine at Lover's Diner?"
Felix glanced at him with an indifferent "Hmm."
Jasmine Astor looked very surprised. Wasn't Bella Felix's favorite person? Why did he bring Gianna to Lover's Diner?
She gave Gianna a look of disgust and then sent Bella a text about something important. She smiled at Uriah and then said, "Since fate has brought us together, why don't the four of us dine together?"
Just as Uriah was about to refuse, Gianna, who had been silent, suddenly agreed, "Sure, why not."
Felix frowned and glanced at Gianna, puzzled as to why she agreed.
Once everyone had taken their seats in the private room, Jasmine Astor turned to Felix with a smile and began, "Felix, you haven't introduced us to the lady by your side. Who might she be?"
Gianna chuckled lightly and enunciated clearly, "You're not worthy of knowing who I am."
The words were hurtful, causing both Uriah and Jasmine Astor to frown in displeasure.
Felix was taken aback; he had never seen Gianna be so discourteous before.
Could it be that she was aware of Jasmine Astor's secret plans during Henry's birthday party?
Uriah furrowed his brow and coldly looked at Gianna, "What do you mean by that?!"
Gianna met his gaze indifferently, "You should be quite clear about what I mean. Your girlfriend is wearing a dress that was a birthday gift I gave to Faith. Perhaps you'd like to explain why it's on her now?"
Jasmine Astor's face lost its color, feeling a blend of embarrassment and frustration. Was the dress she wore a gift from Gianna to Faith?
Uriah sneered, "I've already transferred the money to Faith. This dress belongs to my girlfriend now!"
Gianna arched an eyebrow. "Some people have no shame—the most formidable kind. I don't recall Faith agreeing to sell you the dress, did she?"
Uriah's face soured, and he fell silent, offering no retort.
A disappointed Jasmine Astor looked at Gianna with teary eyes, "Miss Redstone, I had no idea this dress was a gift for Miss Walton from you. I simply fell in love with it, so I begged Uriah to buy it from Miss Walton for me. If you must blame someone, blame me."
Gianna finally grasped why Faith couldn't stand up to Jasmine Astor; that vulnerable act could elicit sympathy from just about any man.
"So, if you like something, you believe in taking it by force? You seem quite accustomed to playing the other woman, always wanting to snatch something away!"
"Gianna, don't you dare overstep. I'm holding back only out of respect for Felix," Uriah snapped back.
Felix looked at Uriah with a neutral face and said plainly, "You shouldn't bother."
Jasmine's eyes briefly lit up with joy. It appeared that Felix genuinely didn't like Gianna.
Uriah caught off guard, looked at Gianna with a scoff in his gaze. But before he could finish his thought, Felix cut him off icily.
"Even I have no respect for you!"
Uriah's expression contorted in disbelief at Felix's straightforward dislike.
Felix, not sparing him another glance, stood up and stated coldly, "Return the dress promptly, or it won't just be Gianna you'll have to worry about; your girlfriend won't be spared either."
Uriah was flabbergasted that Felix afforded him no courtesy, "Felix, after all these years as brothers, you'd humiliate me over a dress?"
Felix gave him a cold stare. "If I were not giving you face, I'd make Jasmine Astor strip off the dress here and now. A gift from my wife to a friend is hardly fit for her!"
With his face ashen and his eyes seething, Uriah spat out, "Fine, if that's how you want it, we're done!"
"Suit yourself!"
Felix, taking Gianna by the hand, promptly exited.
The private room grew quiet. Jasmine, looking pale and shaken, cautiously walked over to Uriah, "I'm sorry, Ah Yi. It's all my fault... If I hadn't insisted on keeping the dress, it wouldn't have led to your fight with Felix..."
With a frigid stare, Uriah addressed Jasmine Astor, "Go home, take off that dress, wash it, and return it to Faith."
Even though she resisted internally countless times, Jasmine couldn't find the courage to confront Uriah at that moment. She nodded reluctantly. "Got it." Her gaze dropped, a flicker of rage passing through her eyes.
She would return the dress, but she'd make damn sure Faith couldn't wear it again.
As they left the restaurant, Gianna abruptly pulled her hand away from Felix's grasp, "Felix, there's no need for you to step in for me; this is my battle, not yours."
"You're my wife , and your business is my business!"
