Chapter 228
The two stared at each other for a bit before Gianna finally said, "Why not get a temporary nanny?"
James glanced at the unconscious Felix on the bed. He was burning up, but Gianna still wouldn't stay to take care of him. Felix must've really ticked her off this time.
"Gianna, Felix hates strangers touching him."
Gianna frowned, "We broke up. I'm a stranger to him now."
"But Felix doesn't see it that way. He might dislike others, but never you! I'm in a rush, so please take care of him!"
With that, James bolted, afraid Gianna might refuse again.
Gianna watched him leaving, feeling tricked.
She checked Felix's temperature. It was high.
She went to the living room, got a glass of water, gave him some medicine, and put a cooling patch on his forehead. She pulled up a chair to sit by the bed and check his temperature every two hours.
Noticing the cooling patch was slanting, Gianna got up to fix it.
As soon as she touched his forehead, Felix's eyes snapped open.
Gianna was stunned. Before she could react, Felix grabbed her wrist and flipped her onto the bed beneath him.
"Gianna."
With a low whisper, his lips met hers.
His fever made his lips scorching hot, igniting a wildfire in Gianna's heart. Her dormant feelings flared up again.
"Mmm... Let go..."
She tried to push Felix away, but he was too strong.
She thought about knocking him out but worried about hurting him more.
'Forget it, just think of it as being bitten by a dog,' she thought.
Soon, Felix let her go.
Gianna sighed in relief and was about to push him away when she froze.
Felix was kissing her neck and moving downward.
Unable to bear it, Gianna pushed him away and stood by the bed, glaring at him.
If it weren't for the feverish flush on his face, she'd think he was acting just to kiss her.
Felix seemed dazed due to the fever.
After being pushed away, he sat on the bed, looking pitiful.
"Gianna, do you really not want me anymore?"
Gianna had never seen Felix like this. His usual cold demeanor was gone, replaced by a fragile look.
She frowned, wanting to say yes, but couldn't bring herself to do it.
Forget it, no point arguing with a sick person. He was probably delirious from the fever.
"You're sick. Lie down and rest."
Felix ignored her and kept looking at her, seeking an answer.
"Do you really not want me anymore?"
Gianna took a deep breath and said, "I don't. Now lie down and rest."
"I want to sleep with you."
Before she could respond, he pulled her onto the bed, forcing her to lie down with him.
Gianna frowned, "I don't want to sleep. I need to check your temperature later. Let me go."
"No, if I let you go, you'll leave."
"I won't leave."
"Stop talking. Get some sleep!"
He held her tightly, giving her no chance to escape.
After struggling for a bit, Gianna gave up and closed her eyes to rest.
She thought she'd have trouble sleeping, but she fell asleep quickly.
She slept soundly through the night.
The next morning, she woke up to see Felix's face close to hers. It took a moment to remember what had happened.
She tried to move out of his embrace, but as soon as she lifted his hand from her waist, he opened his eyes.
Their eyes met, and it got awkward.
Gianna pursed her lips, about to speak, when Felix closed his eyes and pulled her back into his arms.
"Stay a little longer."
His voice was hoarse but oddly soothing.
Gianna bit her lip. "Since you're awake, let me go. I need to wash."
After a moment, Felix opened his eyes and looked at her, his gaze clear.
"Gianna, I remember last night. You said you still want to be with me."
Gianna frowned, her voice colder, "You had a fever. I didn't want to argue with a sick person. Don't take it seriously."
She pushed him away, got out of bed, and straightened her clothes, ready to leave.
"But I took it seriously, Gianna. Can't you give me another chance?"
Gianna turned, her expression indifferent, "The medicine is on the table. Dosage and frequency are written down."
As she turned to leave, Felix quickly got out of bed and walked towards her.
Hearing his hurried footsteps, Gianna was about to turn around when he hugged her from behind. His scent enveloped her.
"Gianna, you still have feelings for me, don't you?"
Gianna lowered her eyes, "Even if I do, I don't want to be with you anymore."
Felix's grip tightened, and he said softly, "I promise, once the Thomas situation is resolved, I'll cut ties with Bella. She came to me to trade some videos of Thomas for 1% of the Clinton Group's shares."
"I admit it was my mistake to forget my phone. I'll keep it with me from now on, okay?"
His voice was deep and sincere.
Gianna's heart wavered. After learning what had happened, she no longer resented Felix.
She had been disappointed in him for not answering her calls, but that time must have been hard for him too, and she hadn't been there for him.
Thinking of this, Gianna pressed her lips and, after a long pause, said softly, "Okay."
She decided to give them both another chance. This time, she would trust him.
"But if you break your promise, I will disappear from your life completely."
Felix felt a sudden panic at her words and tightened his grip.
"Okay, I won't let you down this time."
"Can you let me go now?"
"Can you stay with me today? I'm still not fully recovered."
Gianna frowned, "I'll wash and make some porridge for you."
The disappointment on Felix's face vanished, replaced by a rare smile.
"Okay."
After Gianna left the bedroom, Felix also went to the bathroom to wash.
When he came out, the porridge was cooking, and Gianna was chopping vegetables.
Watching her, Felix leaned against the kitchen door, his eyes full of tenderness.
"Let me help you."
Gianna looked up and saw his face was still a bit flushed. She frowned.
"No need. It'll be ready soon. Go take your medicine and check your temperature."
"Okay."
After breakfast, Gianna told Felix to go back to bed and rest.
Felix's temperature was lower than yesterday, and his thoughts were clearer.
"By the way, how did you get Thomas to back down from firing those workers yesterday?"
