Chapter 271
Gianna finally made her way to the company, and that night, Bella got the scoop.
If she wasn't pregnant, she would've popped a bottle of champagne right there in the hospital room to celebrate.
After the initial buzz, Bella started plotting when to drop the bomb on Gianna. She didn't even notice when the hospital room door creaked open and a shadowy figure slipped in.
It wasn't until a dark shadow loomed over her that Bella snapped out of it and looked up.
Seeing the person standing by her bed, her face went ghostly white, and her first instinct was to bolt!
But before she could even twitch, she was pinned down on the bed, and a knife was pressed against her throat.
"Bella, long time no see!" Thomas sneered.
Bella's face was as pale as a sheet, and her lips were quivering.
"Thomas! Let me go!" Bella yelled.
Thomas grinned wickedly, his eyes lingering on her swollen belly for a few seconds before he slowly said, "Chill, even though you screwed me over, I won't hurt you. After all, you're carrying my kid."
He thought he'd never have kids in his life. When he found out Bella had kept the baby, he was over the moon and wanted to find her ASAP.
But he was still banged up at the time, so he had to lay low.
Later, he found out that the NightShadow Mercenary Organization was behind his parents' deaths. He waited for the right moment and only escaped after giving Mr. Moore a good beating.
This time, besides wanting to see his kid born, he also wanted to get back at Felix!
Bella instinctively shielded her belly and snapped, "This kid has nothing to do with you; it's mine alone!"
"This kid is mine. You don't get a say."
Seeing his calm demeanor and that he indeed had no intention of hurting her, Bella gritted her teeth and asked, "What do you want?"
"Obviously, I'm here to take you and the kid away."
"Are you nuts? I can't go with you, and I won't give you the kid. Having a dad like you is a disgrace to him!"
Hearing this, Thomas's face turned icy, and a murderous glint appeared in his eyes. "How dare you say that? If you hadn't fed Felix info back then, you'd be the president's wife of the Clinton Group now! All of this is because of your stupidity!"
Bella sneered, "Thomas, do you think I'm an idiot? You never planned to marry me. I won't believe a word you say!"
Thomas locked eyes with her and slowly said, "Believe it or not, I'm taking the kid!"
"In your dreams! The kid has no future with you! At least with the Redstone family, he can have a stable life. Now the cops are after you, and Felix's people are hunting you down. Do you want the kid hiding with you forever?"
Thomas was quiet for a moment, seemingly thinking Bella's words made sense. He slowly said, "We'll talk about it after you give birth."
Maybe by then, he would have taken out Felix and pinned all the bad stuff on him.
Bella looked at him coldly, saying nothing but clearly rejecting him with her eyes.
Thomas had taken a big risk to see Bella today. He whispered, "I got other stuff to handle. Don't tell anyone you saw me. You know I hate being betrayed!"
With that, Thomas quickly bailed.
Bella didn't call for help but lowered her head, deep in thought.
'If I could use Thomas to get rid of Gianna, it would be perfect. If Gianna died, Felix would never let Thomas off the hook. Once those two are out of the picture, nothing would stand in the way of me and Felix being together!' Bella thought.
Gianna had been crashing at the company for a few days when Faith finally picked up on something being off.
"Gianna, Felix just got back from a business trip. Shouldn't you two be all lovey-dovey right now? Why are you camping out at the company? Did you guys have a blowout?" Faith asked.
Gianna paused her signing, looked up, and said, "If you've got so much free time, why not lock down a few more deals? Once MY FASHION goes public, then we can chat."
Faith quickly shook her head, "Nope, I'm swamped. Once you sign this contract, I gotta get back to the grind. Super busy!"
Seeing her fake hustle, Gianna couldn't help but smile and let it slide.
Faith grabbed the documents and bolted.
After the office door clicked shut, Gianna put down her pen and stared blankly at the papers in front of her.
Since that nasty argument at the villa, neither of them had texted or called in days.
Gianna still felt a bit miffed. If Felix had come to smooth things over, she might've already patched things up with him.
Thinking about it made her even more irritated.
The phone on her desk suddenly rang.
Gianna quickly picked it up, and seeing it was Garrett, a look of disappointment flashed in her eyes.
As soon as she answered, Garrett said seriously, "Gianna, Jonah's been on meds for a week, but they're not cutting it. He still needs surgery to get rid of the blood clot."
Gianna's face fell, and she quickly said, "Send me the latest report!"
"Got it." Garrett replied.
Soon, her inbox pinged with a new email.
Gianna quickly opened it and saw that the blood clot in Jonah's brain had grown larger, and her expression turned grim.
She had a 50% chance of success with the surgery before, but now it was down to 30%.
"Gianna, we've got experts from all over, but none of them are willing to do the surgery. If we wait any longer, the blood clot in his brain will likely keep growing."
Gianna bit her lower lip, "Garrett, I had a 50% shot before, but now it's only 30%."
"30% is still pretty high. Those experts said they only had a 10% success rate, so they didn't dare to operate."
A 10% success rate was basically a death sentence. If the surgery succeeded, they'd be heroes, but if it failed, the Getty family wouldn't let them off the hook.
Gianna was silent for a while and slowly said, "Let me think about it."
If it were just a regular patient, she wouldn't feel as much pressure if she tried her best but failed. But if Jonah died on her operating table, she'd carry that guilt forever.
Meanwhile, James also filled Felix in on Jonah's condition.
Felix's expression was icy, "Keep looking! I refuse to believe we can't find a doctor in the whole world who'll do this surgery!"
James sighed, "Mr. Clinton, we've found the top brain surgeons. If they think the surgery only has a 10% success rate, other doctors might not even have that."
"I said keep looking! If you can't find one, keep raising the price! We can't let him die!"
If Gianna found out Jonah died saving her and Felix had kept it from her, she would never forgive him.
Thinking about it made Felix uneasy again.
After hesitating for a bit, he picked up his phone and sent Gianna a message: [Gianna, let's have dinner tonight. I'll be waiting for you at our usual spot.]
