Chapter 64

"I'm telling the truth, Teacher. You know that I never lie."

Foster Price glared at her and angrily said, "You always deceive me. Would you have come back if it weren't for treating Felix's leg?"

Gianna nervously stuck out her tongue and said, "It's because I didn't inherit your skills, so I didn't dare to come back!"

"When are you planning to come back and inherit?"

"Teacher, let's not talk about unhappy things. What are we having for dinner tonight?"

"We're having chicken, and you're having vegetables!"

"Teacher, you surely won't let me eat only vegetables!"

"Stop talking nonsense, and go help with the fire!"

"I'll go right away!"

Foster saw Gianna bouncing to the kitchen and couldn't help but sigh. He looked at Garrett and asked, "How is Gianna doing now?"

Seven years ago, when the Redstone family came to them, Gianna was studying medicine with Foster. She was Foster's most gifted and hardworking student; everyone doted on her because she was the youngest.

Garrett stayed silent and whispered, "She's probably not doing well. She doesn't smile as much as before."

Foster sneered and said coldly, "What's so good about the Redstone family? They heartlessly abandoned Gianna at the orphanage because of a fortune teller's prophecy. Bringing her back was only to have her donate bone marrow to their other daughter! They're nothing but a group of beasts!"

"Teacher, that's all in the past."

"Forget about that. Someone will deal with the Redstone family!"

Garrett's eyes widened in surprise, "Who?"

"The Drake family!"

The Drake family knew about the mistreatment Gianna had suffered all these years, and he would turn the entire Dawnridge upside down!

Garrett was shocked. How could Gianna be involved with the Drake family?!

Seeing that Foster had no intention of continuing, Garrett didn't ask further.

"Teacher, I've also been keeping track of my illnesses these past few years, and I wanted to consult with you about it."

He handed his notebook containing his recorded symptoms to Foster, feeling guilty and afraid that Foster would hit him on the head with it after reading.

However, Foster was in a good mood today. He didn't scold him and instead picked a few cases to discuss with him before throwing the notebook back at him.

"The rest are in my study. Go find books to read!"

Garrett quickly said, "All right, thank you, teacher!"

In the kitchen, Gianna and Quinn Price cooked and chatted.

Quinn looked at Gianna enviously, "Gianna, I want to go out too! But my grandfather said I must wait until I'm twenty before he lets me leave."

Gianna smiled and replied, "Your teacher wants what's best for you. Although the outside world is fun, many bad people are also out there. Your teacher is afraid you'll get taken advantage of."

"Why don't I come to live with Gianna then? With Gianna's help, it'll be fine for me!"

Gianna couldn't help but tap her nose and said, "Two years will pass by quickly. Now that your teacher isn't accepting disciples, he'll be very lonely if you're not here keeping him company."

"He won't be lonely! He said he can live a free life once I leave!"

"Your teacher was lying to you. He doesn't even have anyone to talk to. He's really lonely!"

Quinn felt troubled and frowned, "Grandfather could go back to Emerald Isle. Many people hope he'll return."

"Some people want him to go back, but there are also people who don't."

Confusion flashed in Quinn's eyes, "Why? Grandfather has always been saving lives and treating illnesses. Others should respect him."

"You'll understand when you grow up."

"Okay."

As the two were chatting, Foster walked into the kitchen and shouted, "How's the food coming?! All you do is chat!"

Gianna knew that Foster didn't like her, so she reluctantly smiled. She thought how childish the teacher had become as he grew older was funny.

However, she didn't know how long she could enjoy such carefree days.

After all, the teacher had to return to Emerald Isle eventually. Maybe he would leave when Quinn was able to take charge.

Seeing the serious expressions on Gianna and Quinn's faces as they cooked, Foster nodded in satisfaction and left, hands behind his back.

After Foster disappeared from the kitchen doorway, Gianna and Quinn exchanged glances and couldn't help but laugh.

From the next day onwards, Foster assigned the patients seeking medical help to Gianna and Garrett. He wanted to see if their medical skills had deteriorated over the years.

The two had to see hundreds of patients daily while Quinn prepared the medicines according to their prescriptions. The day before they were set to leave, Foster finally allowed them to take a break.

After looking at the diagnosis records and prescriptions written by Gianna and Garrett, Foster couldn't help but smile in satisfaction. "Very good. What you learned before hasn't gone to waste."

"Teacher, have you seen so many patients daily for the past few years?"

Gianna remembered that Foster had established a rule in the past only to see twenty patients a day, causing those who wanted to see him to wait for a year.

Foster stroked his beard and smiled, his eyes squinting. "Oh no, these patients you've seen these past few days were scheduled for me in the next two months. Once you've finished helping me, I'll have a two-month vacation."

"Teacher, is it really okay for you to do this?"

There were rumors that Foster had a bad temper, so if others knew he was a funny old man, they would indeed be shocked.

Thinking about being able to rest every day for the next two months, Foster smiled and said, "Of course it's okay. If you two come visit me every two months, I can retire."

Gianna and Garrett exchanged a glance and couldn't help but laugh.

"If we come to see you every two months, you'll find us annoying again."

Foster nodded. "Indeed. All right, go pack up your things. You have an early start tomorrow."

While Gianna was packing her clothes, Quinn came over with a box in his hands. "Gianna, this is from Grandpa."

She received the silk box and opened it. Inside was a red moonleaf—not white but red.

"Gianna, Grandpa said that this is the last Moonleaf you've grown. Don't secretly plant any more Moonleaf in the future!"

Seeing Quinn's serious expression, Gianna nodded. "I understand."

"All right then, I won't keep you any longer."

After Quinn left, Gianna carefully stored the Moonleaf. With this Moonleaf, Felix's leg was going to be saved.

In the evening, Foster personally cooked a table full of dishes for Gianna and Garrett, and he also brought out the wine he had been collecting for years.

Gianna and Garrett accompanied Foster and had a few drinks, and then Foster made an excuse to leave.

Quinn's eyes were also a little red, and she looked at Gianna and Garrett, saying, "Actually, Foster doesn't want to let you go. Although he didn't say it out loud these days, I know he is very happy you returned."

Gianna and Garrett also felt a bit reluctant. They had lived here for many years, and Foster had become like family to them.

But even though they were reluctant, they eventually had to leave.

When Gianna and Garrett were leaving the following day, Foster didn't come out to see them off.

Gianna and Garrett walked to his door, silently praying in front of Foster's door, and then they left.

On returning to Willow Creek, both felt heavy-hearted and remained silent.

When they arrived at Willow Creek airport, as soon as Gianna and Garrett got out of the car, they were stopped by several men in black.

"Miss Redstone, Garrett, please come with us."
