Chapter 254
Mr. Hughes grinned, "Mr. Clinton, if I spill now, will you still get me out?"
Felix's eyes flashed coldly, "Don't lie to me. I can get you out, but I can also put you back in."
Mr. Hughes shivered, knowing Felix meant it.
"Relax, Mr. Clinton. You won't regret it," Mr. Hughes assured.
After they agreed, Felix left with his lawyer.
Outside the police station, the lawyer frowned, "Mr. Clinton, economic crimes are serious. Hughes raised over a hundred million illegally. Bailing him out won't be easy."
Felix stayed calm, "I know. Just do your job. I'll handle the rest."
After the lawyer left, Felix called James. "Dig into Hughes' illegal fundraising. I need details and a way to get him out. If you find evidence against Thomas, give it to the police."
Felix then drove off.
Back at the villa, he was surprised to see six dishes and a soup on the table.
"Did you get off work early?" Felix asked.
Gianna set the bowls down, smiling, "No, Laura finished filming and came over. Reporters are all over her, so she ordered food in."
"Where is she?" Felix knew about Laura, especially since Mitchell almost fought the family over her, but Mitchell never mentioned her again.
Gianna bit her lip, "She went next door to invite Jonah for dinner."
Watching Felix's reaction, she quickly added, "I wanted to refuse, but it's her birthday. If you're upset, we can eat out."
Felix stayed calm, "No need."
He planned to talk to Jonah. He had James offer Jonah roles in his projects, but Jonah refused, not wanting favors for Gianna.
But Felix was determined to repay the favor.
Seeing he wasn't mad, Gianna relaxed, planning to apologize after Laura and Jonah left.
Soon, Laura and Jonah walked in.
Laura and Jonah had worked together recently and became good friends.
Gianna introduced Felix to Laura, and they all sat down to eat.
With Laura there, the atmosphere wasn't too awkward.
She and Jonah talked about their new show, and teased, "When will you join the crew? The director's anxious. But how did you get injured? Your last show didn't have wire work."
Jonah looked down, "It was added last minute."
"Okay."
No one noticed that Felix's grip on his fork tighten when Laura asked that.
Throughout the meal, aside from Laura and Jonah discussing their show, Gianna and Felix barely spoke.
Jonah occasionally glanced at Gianna, who mostly kept her head down, quietly eating and listening, occasionally serving Felix food.
A look of sadness flashed in his eyes. He wanted her to be happy, but he knew he wasn't the one to give it to her.
After dinner, he got up to leave.
As he walked out, a cold voice called out.
"Jonah, I need to talk." Felix said.
Jonah turned to meet Felix's cold gaze, showing no fear.
"What do you want, Felix?" Jonah asked.
Felix walked up and lowered his voice, "I'm grateful you saved Gianna. I hope you'll accept my thankness."
Jonah chuckled, eyes mocking, "You mean those scripts?"
Felix frowned, voice colder, "If you want money, that's an option too."
Jonah sneered, "I don't need your gratitude or your money. I saved Gianna willingly, expecting nothing in return."
Felix was about to respond when Gianna's voice interrupted, "Felix, what are you two talking about?"
She walked over, eyes confused. She knew Felix had always disliked Jonah.
Jonah smiled, "Nothing much. Felix was asking if I was interested in a new show his group is investing in."
"Really?"
"Yes, it's cold. You two should go back in. No need to see me off." Saying that, Jonah turned and left.
Felix watched him go, lost in thought.
Gianna took his arm, "Felix, Jonah and I are just friends. Please don't give him a hard time."
Felix nodded, "Okay."
He agreed so easily that Gianna was surprised, her eyes widening.
"What? Why are you looking at me like that?" Felix asked.
Gianna shook her head, "I'm just surprised. You used to get upset whenever I mentioned Jonah."
Felix looked at her seriously, "I didn't understand your feelings before. Now that I know you love me, I won't care about other men."
Gianna blushed and smiled, "It's good you know."
"Gianna, I'll cherish you from now on and never let you be sad again."
Gianna huffed, "If you don't cherish me, I won't stay with you."
Felix held her hand tightly, "I won't."
As they turned to go back inside, they saw Laura hurrying out. "Gianna, something came up. I won't be back tonight."
Gianna looked surprised, "But I haven't given you your birthday present yet."
"I'll have Delilah pick it up tomorrow." With that, Laura quickly drove away.
Gianna frowned, worried, 'What could be so urgent?'
"Felix, can you have someone follow Laura? I'm worried about her," she said.
Felix smiled, "She's going to see Mitchell. She'll be fine, don't worry."
Gianna was stunned, "I thought they weren't in contact anymore?"
