Chapter 290

Gianna's heart was doing somersaults, but she kept her cool on the outside.

"Got any proof?" Gianna asked, trying to sound tough.

Bella smirked, "Proof? Seriously, Gianna? Why don't you go ask that firefighter?"

Gianna took a deep breath, her voice icy, "Get out! I don't believe a word you're saying!"

Bella could see Gianna was shaken but just didn't want to admit it. She stood up slowly, looking down at her.

"I really feel for Jonah," Bella said. "He ran into that fire to save you and got all messed up, and Felix hid it from you. If Felix really loved you, how could he lie to you like that?"

"Get out!" Gianna yelled.

Bella grinned and left, satisfied. She'd done what she came to do.

After Bella left, Gianna took a deep breath and made a call, "Find that firefighter who supposedly saved me! I want answers in an hour!"

She hung up and collapsed onto the sofa, feeling drained.

From the moment Bella mentioned Jonah, Gianna knew she was telling the truth.

Guilt and regret hit her hard. If she'd pushed for answers back then, she wouldn't have been fooled by Felix.

And Jonah had saved her, so why did he go along with Felix's lie?

Thinking about Kyle's weird attitude last time she saw Jonah, she figured he knew too.

She pulled out her phone and texted Kyle to meet up.

Kyle, knowing Gianna had operated on Jonah, was more willing to meet her.

On her way to meet Kyle, Gianna got a call from Felix.

She ignored it and let it ring out.

Half an hour later, just as she got out of the car, she got a message: [We found out. That firefighter was there, but when he arrived, you and Jonah were both out cold in the hallway. Jonah was protecting you, bleeding from his head. Later, Mr. Clinton's people found that firefighter and paid him to pretend he was your savior and keep quiet.]

Even though she had a hunch, Gianna's heart still sank.

Felix knew Jonah saved her but kept it a secret. If she hadn't decided to operate on Jonah a week ago, his chances might've been even worse.

Her eyes turned cold as she put away her phone and walked into the café.

Kyle was already there. "Miss Redstone, what's up?"

He thought she wanted to talk about Jonah's recovery and didn't think much of it.

Gianna sat down across from him, looking him straight in the eye.

"Kyle, why did Jonah hide that he saved me?" she asked.

Kyle looked shocked, then guilty. "Miss Redstone, what are you talking about? You saved Jonah."

Gianna chuckled, "I've got proof Jonah saved me. Lying won't help now."

Kyle's hand clenched under the table. He took a deep breath, "It wasn't my idea. Mr. Getty didn't want you to know. Jonah was out cold, and when he woke up and found out Mr. Getty and Mr. Clinton had lied to you, he didn't want to mess up your relationship with Mr. Clinton, so he made me keep quiet."

Gianna closed her eyes, not expecting this.

Jonah didn't want to mess up her thing with Felix, but what about Felix? For his own selfish reasons, he kept this from her.

Did he ever think about how she'd feel when she found out?

Gianna asked, "So, after he saved me, was he out for a long time? When I bumped into you at Thundertop Liberty General Hospital, was the friend you mentioned him?"

Now that she knew Jonah had saved her, a lot of things started making sense.

Kyle nodded, "Yeah, he was out cold for three days and then stayed at Thundertop Liberty General Hospital to recover. When I saw you at the hospital, I asked him if he wanted you to know he was there, but he didn't want me to tell you."

Guilt washed over Gianna, and her eyes started to sting.

"Has he been in pain this whole time?" she asked.

She'd seen patients with blood clots pressing on nerves before. The pain was so bad they'd bang their heads against the wall just to get some relief.

If she'd known from the start, she could've done the surgery six months ago, and he wouldn't have had to suffer so long.

Kyle was quiet for a moment, then said softly, "It was more than just pain. At first, he could barely manage with painkillers while filming, but later, even those didn't work. He needed two people to watch him every day to stop him from hurting himself."

Gianna took a deep breath and asked slowly, "Why did Mr. Getty agree to keep this from me with Felix?"

Kyle explained, "They seemed to have some sort of deal, and Mr. Getty didn't like you. He thought you weren't good enough for Jonah and wanted to cut you out of his life."

Gianna replied, "Got it. Thanks for telling me all this."

Kyle left quickly, and Gianna sat in the café for a long time, ignoring countless calls from Felix.

Finally, she picked up.

Felix sounded worried, "Gianna, where are you? Why haven't you shown up yet?"

Gianna pressed her lips together, her voice a bit hoarse, "I'm on my way. I'll be there in about half an hour."

Felix said, "Okay, I'll wait for you."

His voice was gentle, but Gianna felt nothing but cold.

How much of his gentleness was real?

She'd given him so many chances, but he always let her down.

This relationship needed to end.

Gianna took a cab to Sky Garden Restaurant. As soon as she walked in, she noticed it was dark and frowned.

After hesitating for a moment, she called Felix.

"I'm at the restaurant entrance. Are you sure you're at Sky Garden Restaurant?" she asked.

Felix said, "Just come in."

After hanging up, she slowly walked into the restaurant, using her phone's flashlight because it was pitch dark inside.

As soon as she walked in, she smelled roses, and a hint of surprise flashed in her eyes.

Suddenly, all the lights in the restaurant came on.

Gianna squinted uncomfortably and then saw the restaurant decorated with champagne roses everywhere, especially the ceiling, which was covered in them. She felt like she was in a world of roses.

She pressed her lips together, suspicion rising in her heart.

Felix appeared at the end of the hallway, holding a bouquet of flowers as he walked towards her.

He stopped in front of her, got down on one knee like a prince from a fairy tale, and looked at her with eyes full of love.

"Gianna, there's something I've wanted to say for a long time. I didn't cherish you before, but after being with you, I realized how amazing you are. I don't want to miss another moment with you. I want you to be my princess for life. Will you marry me?" Felix said sincerely.

He opened a ring box in front of Gianna, his eyes full of hope, praying she'd say yes.

Gianna stared at the ring for a while. It was beautiful, so beautiful that she almost couldn't look away.

If she hadn't known about his lies, she might have been moved, cried, and said yes.

But now, she felt nothing inside.

"I won't," Gianna said coldly.
