Chapter 241
"Thomas, if anything happens to Ximena, I swear I'll kill you!"
Thomas smirked, completely unfazed by Felix's threat.
"She was driving her own car. Maybe she felt guilty for my parents' deaths and decided to end it herself."
Felix's fists clenched, tension rising.
Gianna, worried that Felix might hit Thomas, whispered, "Let's take him back to the old house first."
Thomas sneered, "If you want to take me back, you'll have to try and catch me first!"
Suddenly, dozens of men in black appeared, looking tough and ready.
Felix and Gianna's expressions turned grave. They didn't expect Thomas to bring so many people. Felix could handle them, but he didn't want Gianna to get hurt.
The air crackled with tension.
At that moment, Felix's phone rang.
"Felix, we found Ximena. Her car went off a cliff. She's in a coma, and the ambulance is on its way."
Felix's face turned grim, "I'm on my way!"
Thomas heard the call and smirked, "If you hurry, you might catch her last moments!"
Felix's grip on his phone tightened, knuckles white.
Gianna grabbed his arm, "Felix, let's go to the scene first!"
Felix got in the car, but Gianna drove, not trusting him to stay calm.
Thomas's smile widened, "Let's go back. I need a good rest. If Ximena dies, I need to be in good spirits for the funeral."
Meanwhile, the ambulance had just arrived. Seeing the medics carry a bloodied Ximena, Gianna tightened her grip on Felix's hand.
"Felix, Ximena will be okay."
Felix didn't speak, eyes fixed on Ximena.
They followed her to the hospital. Ximena was rushed into surgery. A nurse brought a consent form for Felix to sign.
He paused, then signed with such force that he almost tore the paper.
As the surgery light came on, Connor arrived, looking panicked.
"What happened? How could she crash at the same spot as Jesse and Maria?"
Gianna saw no concern in his eyes, only fear. She realized he wasn't worried about Ximena, just about facing retribution.
Even though Gianna didn't like Ximena, she found Connor's selfishness and cowardice disgusting.
She stayed silent, standing by Felix's side.
Feeling awkward, Connor sulked in a corner and stayed silent.
Early the next morning, the surgery light finally went off.
Ximena was wheeled out, covered in tubes, eyes closed, and face pale.
The doctor followed, removing his mask with a serious expression, "She has a head injury and a blood clot in her brain. We don't know when she'll regain consciousness, so be prepared."
Felix's face remained emotionless, but his clenched fists showed his inner turmoil.
Gianna quickly asked, "Doctor, do you mean she might stay in a coma?"
The doctor nodded, "If she doesn't wake up within a month, she might never wake up."
"What?" Connor, who had dozed off in a chair, was startled awake to the conversation. Hearing Ximena might stay in a coma, his face turned grim.
He stood up, disbelief in his eyes, "She can't stay in a coma! I have so many questions for her! She must wake up!"
The doctor frowned, "That's beyond our control. We don't know when she will wake up."
Connor gritted his teeth, "We need to transfer her! If this hospital can't treat her, I'm sure believe Thundertop can!"
"If you decide to transfer her, the hospital will respect your decision. But her condition is very bad now. If anything happens during the transfer, you'll be responsible for the consequences."
With that, the doctor left.
Connor, furious, picked up his phone to call someone at Thundertop.
Felix, who hadn't spoken since last night, looked at him coldly, "I don't agree to the transfer."
Connor, startled by Felix's icy tone, turned around, meeting his cold gaze, panic rising in his heart.
"Felix, the doctors at Dawnridge aren't skilled enough. We should transfer her to Thundertop..."
Felix cut him off coldly, "Even if we transfer her, it wouldn't be now."
"But—"
Felix didn't even look at him, turning to leave.
Gianna quickly caught up with him, stopping him before he got into the car.
"You're not in a good state to drive, and you didn't sleep at all last night. Let me take you home to rest."
"No need, I have things to do!"
"Felix!" Gianna's voice was firm, "You need to rest today. We'll deal with Thomas after you rest!"
Felix looked at her, eyes cold, "Gianna, go back. I know what to do."
Gianna didn't move, standing her ground.
If she let Felix leave now, he'd definitely go after Thomas. Thomas was so arrogant last night, so she guessed he had a plan. If Felix confronted him in anger, he'd fall into his trap.
"Until you calm down, I won't let you leave."
"If someone you cared about was in danger, could you stay calm?"
Gianna met his gaze, speaking slowly, "I couldn't, but I know you'd do everything to calm me down, just like I'm doing now. So I can't let you leave."
Felix's grip on the car door tightened, a struggle in his eyes.
After a long pause, he slowly loose his hands.
"Fine, I'll listen to you. I won't go after Thomas until I calm down."
