Chapter 230
Seeing his grim face, Gianna thought Felix was acting weird but shrugged it off.
"Jonah got hurt filming recently and moved next door. I saw Kyle bringing him back today. Kyle said I should help if Jonah needs anything. You're not mad, right?"
Felix couldn't even fake a smile at Gianna's teasing.
He stood up, grabbed two dishes, and put them in a food box, saying coldly, "I'll take it to him."
Gianna was surprised, her eyes wide. "Felix, did you have a personality change? I thought you couldn't stand Jonah."
"He's your friend. I trust you."
With that, Felix walked out with the food box.
Gianna quickly stopped him, "Be gentle when you talk to him. You don't want to sound like you're collecting a debt."
Felix's expression stayed icy, "Fine, heat the soup. I'll be back soon."
"Okay."
Making sure Gianna didn't follow, Felix quickly walked to Jonah's door and knocked.
Jonah looked surprised to see Felix. "Mr. Clinton, what do you need?"
Jonah's tone wasn't friendly. He hadn't expected anything for saving Gianna from the fire, but Felix and Daniel's actions behind his back bothered him.
Felix's face was cold, "Gianna asked me to bring you some food."
Jonah's eyes softened for a moment. "Give it to me, and you can leave."
Felix didn't hand over the food box, just stared at him. "I want to talk."
Jonah chuckled, leaning against the door, "What do you want to talk about? How I saved Gianna but you and Daniel kept it from her? Or your deal with Daniel?"
Felix's face grew colder with each word.
By the end, Felix's coldness was almost palpable.
"I know it was unfair, but it's in the past. I don't want Gianna to remember those painful times. The Clinton Group invested in some big productions. I can get you lead roles."
Jonah's expression turned mocking, "Felix, do you think a few roles will make up for what I did for Gianna?"
Felix stared coldly, "Jonah, if you're too greedy, you might end up with nothing."
"The greedy one seems to be you, Felix."
Jonah's grip on his cane tightened, "I saved Gianna voluntarily, not for any reward."
He tried to close the door, but Felix blocked it.
"If you don't want a reward, then never mention this to her again!"
Jonah's voice was cold, "Don't worry, Felix, I don't want Gianna hurt any more than you do."
If Gianna found out the man she liked had deceived her, she'd be devastated. Jonah didn't want to see her sad, so he planned to keep this secret.
When Felix returned with the food box, Gianna frowned, "Jonah didn't want it?"
Felix nodded, "Yeah, let's eat."
Gianna frowned, "I'll take it to him. He's injured and can't cook."
As she picked up the food box, Felix grabbed her wrist.
"Gianna, he can order takeout. If you care too much about another man, I'll be upset."
Gianna was surprised by Felix's directness. After a moment, she put down the food box and nodded, "Alright."
After dinner, they cleaned up. Gianna told Felix to rest in his room while she went to the study to handle some documents.
Back in the bedroom, Felix called James.
"Get in touch with Jonah's agent and send over the scripts from the Clinton Group's investments. Let him pick."
"Got it."
"And make sure the agent doesn't mention our involvement."
An hour later, Jonah got a call from his agent, Kyle.
"Jonah, you didn't like the last scripts, right? Some new ones just came in. I'll send them over."
Jonah frowned. Felix had just talked about offering him roles, and now Kyle had new scripts. Coincidence?
He remained silent for a moment.
Kyle, not hearing a response, continued, "Jonah, are you there? Is your injury affecting your work? Don't worry. The directors said they'd wait for you to recover."
"Kyle, are these scripts from Felix?"
Kyle sounded puzzled, "What Felix? I don't get it."
Jonah smiled coldly, "Even if you don't want to say, I can call the investors and find out."
There was a pause, then Kyle's resigned voice, "Jonah, if the scripts are good, why worry about the investors? It's a business relationship. No need to feel burdened."
"Reject them."
Kyle tried to persuade him but eventually gave up and hung up.
For the next two days, Felix stayed at Gianna's villa. Jonah could see them from his balcony, going out for groceries or taking evening walks.
Jonah once dreamed of spending time with Gianna like that, but it was just a fantasy. To her, he was just a friend.
On Monday morning, as Gianna was about to leave for work, she got a call from Faith.
"Gianna, I need some time off," Faith said.
Hearing her hoarse voice, Gianna frowned, "Is this about Hayden?"
"No, I just need a break."
"How long?"
"About two weeks."
After a pause, Gianna said, "Alright, but keep your phone on. We might need you."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Faith couldn't hold back her tears. Her face and body were bruised from a beating.
Yesterday, Hayden's son, Ulysses Walton, came demanding justice for his father. Faith tried to explain Hayden's illegal actions and had security bring him in.
But as soon as he entered, Ulysses grabbed her hair and started hitting her. She tried to escape, but he overpowered her.
She endured an hour of pain before blacking out. When she woke up, she was alone, but there was a threatening message from Ulysses on her phone.
Terrified and unsure what to do, Faith decided to leave Dawnridge until she healed. She didn't want anyone to know she was beaten.
After calling Gianna, Faith booked a flight and packed her things. But as she left the villa, she was blocked by a few people.
"My dear cousin, where are you planning to go?"
