Chapter 137
Gianna's hand under the quilt involuntarily tightened. She lowered her gaze and said, "You shouldn't have come back."
Felix sneered, "You're right. It was my mistake to worry about you. This is my fault!"
He slammed the door and left.
Gianna pursed her lips, a hint of conflict flashing in her eyes. The kinder Felix was to her, the more her emotional defenses weakened, threatening to crumble entirely.
Gianna didn't let herself dwell on this emotion for too long. She quickly calmed down, got up from the bed, and prepared to leave the hospital.
Just as she opened the door of the ward, she saw Felix standing coldly outside the room.
Gianna was stunned, not expecting Felix to be there still.
"How...?" Gianna's words were cut off as Felix scooped her up horizontally and walked straight toward the hospital exit.
Pressed against Felix's chest, hearing his steady and strong heartbeat, Gianna's face grew warm, her heartbeat racing.
"Mr. Clinton, put me down. I can walk by myself."
"If you don't want to be dropped on the ground, then shut up!"
Felix's voice carried anger, his jaw tense, clearly still upset about what happened earlier, but his actions of holding Gianna were gentle.
Gianna lowered her gaze, trying hard to suppress the joy bubbling up inside her. She couldn't afford to make the same mistake again.
After Felix carried Gianna into the car, he took her directly to his current residence, Oakwood Estate.
Seeing this unfamiliar villa, Gianna frowned.
"Mr. Clinton, you can just drop me off at Elm Bay."
Felix sneered, "Want to be bombed again?"
Sophia, who was nearby, noticed Gianna's displeasure and quickly explained, "Miss Redstone, there are people constantly watching outside Elm Bay Villa, waiting for you to show up. It's dangerous. Until this matter is resolved, you should stay at Oakwood Estate."
Gianna looked at Sophia. "Sophia, have they found the person who planted the bomb at Grand View Villa?"
"Yes, it was a maintenance worker at the Villa who installed the bomb under the guise of repairs. Once the door is opened, the bomb's timer will start, and it will explode within five seconds."
Gianna furrowed her brow. "Was he a fan of Bella?"
Sophia shook her head. "That hasn't been confirmed. When we found him, he had already committed suicide, and his time of death was an hour after planting the bomb."
Gianna lowered her gaze, sensing something amiss. If he truly wanted to kill her, they wouldn't have committed suicide before confirming her death. There might be only one reason for such an action.
The maintenance worker had an accomplice.
This was a deliberate event, most likely not the act of a Bella fanatic, as they would have informed Bella about their plan.
The only person likely to do this was Scorpio.
Scorpio had resurfaced.
Realizing this, Gianna immediately sent a message to Garrett.
[Scorpio should be back at Dawnridge.]
As soon as the message was sent, Garrett replied promptly.
[I was just about to tell you that the maintenance worker who caused the explosion had previous contact with one of Scorpio's henchmen.]
Gianna's eyes turned cold.
Scorpio wouldn't try to kill Gianna so directly. This was probably a warning.
[Can you find out where he is?]
[He's very good at hiding his tracks. He likely has obtained an identity by now and might already be near you. I'll try to find out, and you should also keep an eye on those around you.]
[Understood.]
Just as she put down her phone, Felix approached with a box of medicine and a glass of water. "Take the medicine. I'll have to work. Rest if you're tired, and have dinner when the maid prepares it later."
"Okay."
Gianna took the water and medicine in front of Felix, who said nothing more and turned to leave the room.
As he reached the door, Gianna's voice came from behind.
"Mr. Clinton, thank you!"
Felix paused for a moment but didn't turn back.
Back in the study, Felix's expression grew even colder.
"How's the investigation going?"
"Felix, this incident indeed has nothing to do with Bella. It was a passerby who accidentally filmed a video and only posted it online after seeing Bella win the design competition."
Felix's expression remained icy.
"Alright, continue investigating the maintenance worker who planted the bomb. It's definitely not as simple as just being a fan of Bella."
"Understood. Should we continue deleting the comments on Facebook?"
"Yes. If necessary, suspend Bella's account."
"I understand."
After giving instructions, Felix dismissed Sophia.
In the bedroom, Gianna opened the surveillance of Elm Bay Villa. There were still many people outside.
If these people hadn't driven away, Felix would surely have insisted on her staying here, and Gianna wouldn't have wanted to interact with Felix too much.
With this matter brewing for a long time, there should have been a resolution by now.
In the two days since the video was released, Bella's fans had increased by tens of thousands. Bella was ecstatic, never expecting a video to have such a significant impact.
Bella thought that slowly revealing all the things Gianna had copied from her in the past might attract more followers even faster.
Thinking this, a smug smile appeared on Bella's face.
It seemed that Gianna was born to be exploited by Bella.
Just as Bella was feeling pleased with herself, Gianna suddenly posted on Facebook.
Bella clicked on it and saw several audio clips. The opening one was a mocking audio of Bella by Gianna, even including the recording from the design competition venue that day.
After listening, Bella's hands trembled, and she immediately called Gianna.
"Gianna! Have you lost your mind? Delete that Facebook post now!"
Hearing Bella's frantic voice, Gianna remained calm.
"Bella, have you forgotten your true self amidst all the adoration you've received these days?"
Bella gritted her teeth. "I didn't post that video. What does it have to do with me? And you hitting me is a fact!"
"Didn't you insult my foster parents first before I hit you? Wasn't my reaction justified?"
After a few seconds of silence, Bella's tone suddenly changed. "Gianna, my sister, I know I was wrong. Can you forgive me this time? I just won the design competition. I can't afford to ruin my reputation."
Gianna chuckled. "You said your reputation can't be tarnished. But what about mine? Bella, don't be so selfish!"
With that, Gianna hung up the phone.
If Bella called again, Gianna wouldn't pick up.
Bella was so angry she wanted to kill Gianna on the spot, but she was helpless. She couldn't let everything she had worked so hard for go to waste.
Working up her courage, Bella opened Facebook. She had expected to be severely criticized, but to her surprise, her comment section was calm.
Frowning, Bella quickly checked the comments under Gianna's post, only to find them all criticizing Gianna.
[I finally understand that no one can defeat you since you are completely without shame! How dare you post such an obviously synthesized voice on Facebook? You're just asking for criticism!]
[Hilarious, what is this? Making fake evidence to defend yourself? You must have mental issues]
[No wonder she didn't even graduate from high school with this level of intelligence. She probably thinks we're all as foolish as her and can't tell it's a fake!]
Seeing those comments, Bella's eyes widened in disbelief, followed by a surge of joy.
Gianna had actually synthesized those voice recordings herself.
A mocking smile played on Bella's lips. 'Gianna was still as foolish as before. This method definitely wouldn't eliminate the negative impact.' she thought.
She realized that she could continue to use Gianna to attract more followers.
Gianna posted two more updates on Facebook the next moment.
Seeing the titles, Bella's face turned pale in an instant.
