Chapter 179: Misunderstood
Bella stared at him blankly, "What's in it for me to abort?"
Thomas sneered, "Nothing. But if you keep it, you'll regret it."
"Regret or not, that's my call. Touch him, and I'll tell Natalie."
Thomas's expression turned icy, glaring at Bella like he wanted to eat her alive.
"Bella, you're something else," he growled.
Bella raised eyebrows, meeting his gaze coldly.
After a tense silence, Thomas got up and left.
The chill in the room lifted, and Bella finally exhaled.
She instinctively touched her belly. This child was her ace, and she was determined to have it.
After a bit, Bella got up to leave. At the door, she spotted Gianna and Jonah coming out of the room across the hall.
They were chatting and didn't notice her.
Bella quickly ducked back into her room, leaving the door ajar. She snapped a few photos of them with her phone.
She thought about sending them to Felix but changed her mind.
Bella put her phone away, a cold smile on her lips.
The next morning, news of Jonah dating blew up online.
The leak had photos and videos.
In the video, Jonah was very attentive to Gianna. Her face was blurred, but Jonah's was clear.
The news went viral, breaking fans' hearts.
[Oh my God, I'm crushed. He's never been seen with a woman before. I thought he didn't like women. Guess I was wrong!]
[I want to have dinner with him too... So jealous. What kind of woman does he like? She must've saved the galaxy in her past life!]
[We need to find out who stole our man! He's ours!]
While the internet buzzed with the news, Gianna had no clue.
She woke up to a dozen missed calls from Faith, which made her frown.
Just as she was about to call back, Faith called again.
"Faith, what's up?"
"Were you with Jonah last night?!"
Gianna was puzzled, "Yeah, why?"
"You two were photographed and posted online. Your face is blurred, but everyone's freaking out, thinking Jonah's dating, and they're trying to find out who you are."
Gianna, having been a manager before, knew this was serious, "Got it. Let's leave it there."
She hung up and called Jonah.
He answered quickly, sounding tired.
"Gianna, I saw the news. Don't worry, I'll handle it," Jonah assured her.
"What's the plan?"
After a pause, Jonah said, "The company will clarify we're just friends and have my manager post on Facebook saying she was there too."
The solution was simple and effective.
"Okay, got it."
Gianna got up, washed, and went downstairs. Felix was on the sofa, looking cold and tense.
She sat next to him, pursed her lips, and said, "I can explain last night."
Felix's icy gaze finally met hers, deep and cold.
"Gianna, you told me to stay away from Bella, but what about you and Jonah?" Felix snapped.
Gianna frowned, "It's different. Nothing's going on between Jonah and me."
Felix let out a cold laugh, "So you don't trust me, but I should trust you?"
"That's not what I mean, I—"
Felix cut her off, "No need to explain. Let's just pretend this never happened."
He got up and left.
Gianna hesitated, then chased after him, stopping him as he was about to get into his car.
"Jonah invited me to dinner to thank me for saving him," she explained.
Felix's gaze was icy, "If that's all, why didn't you tell me you were having dinner with him?"
Gianna frowned, "I was afraid you'd misunderstand, given your feelings about Jonah."
"And now that it's trending, I won't misunderstand?"
Gianna lowered her eyes, "I'm sorry."
Felix said nothing and drove off.
All day, Gianna was distracted at work. Faith noticed and came to her office.
"Gianna, what's up? You've been off all day. Is it the photos with Jonah?" Faith asked.
Gianna sighed, "Partly, but also because I hid it from Felix."
Faith looked puzzled. "Why hide it from Felix? I'd misunderstand too."
"He thinks Jonah has ulterior motives. I didn't want him to get the wrong idea."
Faith shook her head, "You're smart at work but clueless in relationships. If Felix had dinner with Bella, wouldn't you be mad?"
Gianna sighed. "How do I make him forgive me?"
"Apologize sincerely and make it up to him. You have to deal with the consequences."
After Faith left, Gianna called Felix.
It took several tries before he answered, and his voice was cold.
"What is it?"
"When do you get off work? I'll come see you."
After a pause, Felix said, "I'm working late. Just say whatever you have to say over the phone."
"I'll come in person." She hung up before he could refuse.
Half an hour later, Gianna arrived at the Clinton Group. Sophia at the front desk noticed her and walked over.
"Gianna, the president is in a meeting. I'll take you upstairs."
Sophia brought Gianna to Felix's office, gave her a glass of water, and left.
Gianna waited over two hours, her stomach growling, before Felix's meeting ended.
He walked in, saw her, and sat down across from her, his expression cold, "What do you want to say?"
