Chapter 187:Encountering Danger
Laura turned around, saw Gianna, and almost spilled the chicken soup in her hand. She quickly put the bowl down and stood up, looking guilty.
"Gianna..." Laura mumbled.
Gianna frowned, "Mitchell got hurt because of you?"
Laura nodded, "Yeah, the wire broke while I was filming. He tried to save me and ended up with a leg bone fracture."
Gianna didn't ask more. After spending some time with Felix, she left. On the way back, she stayed silent.
From Laura's behavior, it was clear her feelings for Mitchell had changed. As a friend, Gianna didn't want Laura getting too close to him, but she knew she couldn't control matters of the heart. This thought irritated her.
"Thinking about Laura and Mitchell?" Felix asked.
Gianna nodded, "Yeah, I don't want Laura involved with Mitchell."
"That's their business. Stay out of it."
Gianna sighed, "Don't worry, I won't interfere."
Felix changed the subject, "Once the MY FASHION issue is resolved, let's take a break. You seem tired."
"Okay."
The next morning, Gianna got a call from Summer, who had the clothes. They met at the same café.
Summer handed Gianna a black bag. "These are the clothes that caused my brother's allergic reaction."
Summer left after handing over the clothes. Back at the company, Gianna gave them to Faith for analysis.
Later, Gianna got a call from Summer's phone, but it was a middle-aged man speaking.
"Return the clothes, or you'll regret it!" the man threatened.
Before Gianna could respond, she heard chaos and Summer's screams in the background. Gianna's voice turned icy, "Hurt Summer again, and you'll never see those clothes!"
The man sneered, "What does it matter if I hit my own daughter? Even if I beat her to death, she deserves it!"
"Don't return the clothes..." Summer tried to say, but the man hit her again, silencing her.
Gianna tightened her grip on the phone, "Let her go, and I'll return the clothes."
The clothes had already been analyzed, so returning them wouldn't affect MY FASHION. The man gave an address and hung up.
Gianna had the technical department send the clothes to her office, grabbed them, and left.
Meanwhile, the man laughed sinisterly. He planned to make sure Gianna had no place to hide once she arrived. He looked at Summer, who smiled maliciously.
"Dad, she'll be here soon. Let's get ready. Once she's dead, we'll leave immediately!" Summer said.
"Alright."
Jonah had just finished a job and saw Gianna speeding past. Alarmed, he called her, but she didn't answer. He turned his car around and followed her. Gianna stopped in front of an old residential building, got out, and walked straight in.
At the door of apartment 301, Gianna rang the doorbell.
A middle-aged man opened it and stared coldly at her, asking, "Did you bring the clothes?"
Gianna waved the bag, "I want to see Summer."
The man sneered and stepped aside, "Come in. She's in the bedroom."
Gianna walked in without hesitation. In the bedroom, Summer lay on the bed, seemingly asleep. Gianna bent down, and suddenly, Summer sat up and injected her with a syringe.
Realizing what was happening, Gianna twisted Summer's hand, making her scream. Gianna pulled out the syringe and injected the remaining third into Summer while gripping her neck.
"What's in this?!" Gianna shouted.
Gianna had trusted Summer completely, only to be betrayed.
Summer sneered, "Just something to make you pass out."
Gianna felt her body weakening and collapsed on the bed, unable to move.
Summer, also affected, taunted, "Looks like my acting skills are pretty good. Just playing the victim was enough to make you trust me."
Gianna bit her lip, the taste of blood keeping her somewhat conscious, "Who ordered you to do this?"
Before Summer could answer, the middle-aged man walked in, "Blame yourself for crossing the wrong people. Someone paid to have you killed!"
"Is that person Nathan?"
The man hesitated, then sneered, "You don't need to know who it is!" He helped Summer up and left the bedroom.
Gianna, feeling weak, tried to get up but couldn't. The man poured oil on the bed and set it on fire. The sheets quickly ignited, and he left with Summer without looking back.
On their way downstairs, they ran into Jonah, who was coming up to find Gianna.
Jonah searched everywhere but couldn't find her, feeling uneasy. He called her phone and heard it ring from downstairs. Jonah's eyes narrowed, and he ran downstairs.
Seeing the man trying to turn off Gianna's phone, Jonah grabbed him by the collar, "Why do you have Gianna's phone?!"
The man pointed to the smoking third floor, "She's in that burning room. If you don't go now, she'll burn to death!"
Jonah's pupils contracted. He released the man and rushed into the building. The man sneered and left with Summer.
Jonah struggled to open the locked door. When he finally did, thick smoke and flames burst out, but he rushed in, "Gianna! Where are you... Gianna!"
Jonah soaked his clothes with water in the kitchen and covered his nose as he searched. The fire had spread from the bedroom to the living room. Despite multiple burns, he didn't give up. His eyes stung from the smoke, but he kept searching.
Finally, in another bedroom, Jonah found the unconscious Gianna. He helped her up and started to walk out. Just as they left the room, there was a loud explosion behind them.
Jonah felt a sharp pain in his back and then fainted.
