Chapter 69
After all, the Astor family was always cunning and ruthless, so even though they were only of average status in Dawnridge, not many companies dared to offend them.
"Don't you see who her husband is? Who would dare to mess with Felix in Dawnridge? Let's be careful with what we say in the future," someone warned.
"Doesn't Lauren know about Emerson being taken away by the police? The police came over half an hour ago when we were still playing cards with her!" another person exclaimed.
Lauren looked grim and reached for her phone to call Julian.
"Julian, it's about Gianna," she began.
Before she could finish her sentence, Julian coldly interrupted, "Shut up, I'm busy right now. Tell Gianna to come home immediately!"
Hearing the busy tone on the other end of the call, Lauren's anger surged up again.
Not only did Gianna refuse to apologize in the morning and cut ties with her, but now she had even called the police to arrest Jasmine's mother. Gianna must be out of her mind!
Back at the Villa, Gianna had dinner with Felix before Garrett arrived to treat him.
After the treatment, Gianna accompanied Garrett out.
At the villa's entrance, Garrett smiled at Gianna and asked, "Gianna, how was my acting?"
He was referring to the act he put on in front of Felix, pretending not to know Gianna well.
Gianna nodded seriously and said, "If your medical skills were as good as your acting, it would be even better."
Garrett fell silent.
He pretended to be angry and glared at Gianna, threatening, "Don't forget, you still need my help right now. Don't make me angry."
Before he could finish his sentence, he noticed something in Gianna's hand that shocked him.
"Dreamwell Capsules! How do you have these?" Garrett exclaimed.
Gianna raised an eyebrow and said, "Foster gave them to me through Quinn."
Garrett immediately pounded his chest and stomped his feet. "The teacher is so biased!"
Angrily, Gianna looked at him and didn't hold back, "Don't think I don't know. Foster had Quinn deliver many medical books to you."
Garrett's expression froze, and he muttered, "Boring. Why did you bring the Dreamwell Capsules in front of me?"
"This is your reward for helping treat Felix," Gianna replied.
Garrett looked incredulous. "Really?!"
"If you don't want them, then forget it."
Garrett hastily snatched the Dreamwell Capsules from her hand and grinned at her. "I need this! I'll take it!"
"Does Garrett still want to continue treating Felix?" Gianna asked.
Garrett replied with a serious face, "Gianna, how could I abandon a patient? I will keep coming to give him massages until Felix recovers!"
Gianna couldn't help but laugh and said, "All right, go on back now."
"See you tomorrow!"
Gianna returned to the bedroom and saw Felix leaning on a cane, struggling to walk forward. With each step, sweat would drip from his face, turning red.
She quickly went up to support him, a bit annoyed, and said, "Didn't I tell you? Massage a few more times before starting rehabilitation. It'll make the pain much easier."
Felix let her help him onto the bed and murmured, "I thought you would want me to recover quickly so you could divorce me."
Gianna paused for a moment while covering him with a blanket and said, "I do want you to get better soon, but I also don't want to rush it. Your leg injury is more severe than three years ago, and it will take more time to recover."
She ignored Felix's reaction and went to get water to wipe his body.
After doing all this, Gianna was about to rest in the living room when the doorbell rang.
She walked to the door and saw Riley, a hint of surprise flashing through her eyes.
As soon as she opened the door, Riley quickly said, "Gianna, Julian is furious at home because you reported Emerson and Jasmine to the police. They might take coercive measures if you don't want to go back. Be careful during this time."
A warm feeling washed over Gianna. Since the day she returned to the Redstone family, everyone had disliked her, and Riley was the only one who would actively talk to her and show concern.
"Riley, I understand. You should go back now, too."
After Riley left, Gianna felt a slight restlessness. She felt like something was about to happen.
The next morning, Gianna was awakened by her phone ringing.
"Gianna, quickly look at the news. Your mother is holding a press conference to sever ties with you!"
Gianna pinched her forehead and got up to turn on the computer.
She quickly found a video of Lauren sitting in front of reporters, her eyes red and her face haggard.
She played the recording of Gianna saying they had no mother-daughter relationship, leaving out the rest.
After Lauren finished, she covered her face and cried. It took her a while to finally compose herself.
"Although Gianna was only found after more than ten years, Lauren didn't expect that she wouldn't recognize her as her mother. She was heartbroken all night."
She expressed her grievances before Lauren finally got to the point.
“Firstly, I apologize for Gianna's act of violence. I will do my best to compensate Jasmine and hope she can forgive Gianna's impulsiveness.
Secondly, as for her being a mistress, Felix did have a relationship with Belle for some time, but I am not sure about the feelings of young people.
Finally, regarding her calling the police to catch Jasmine and Emerson, we will deal with it soon, and her father and I will personally apologize!"
Gianna looked at Lauren with a cold expression, acting like a great mother in front of the press. She felt no emotion in her heart.
Before the call ended, Faith's angry voice came through, "Is your mother crazy? She's just shifting all the blame onto you. It's infuriating! I would confront her right now if she weren't your mother!"
Gianna remained silent for a few seconds and calmly replied, "Don't worry. I'll handle it myself. I'll prepare for work after washing up."
"You still plan on going to work today? She has already announced your job at MY FASHION, and a group of reporters is waiting for you downstairs. It's better to stay at home for now!"
Gianna pressed her lips together, showing no emotion in her eyes.
"I understand."
After hanging up the phone, Gianna finished her morning routine and walked out of the room. She saw Felix sitting in the dining room with an unpleasant expression on his face. His breakfast remained untouched.
Gianna sat down next to him and picked up a glass of milk before looking at him. "If you don't like this breakfast, you can have the maid make another one."
Felix looked at her coldly and furrowed his brows. "Your mother held a press conference this morning. Did you know about it?"
Gianna paused for a moment while holding the bread, then nodded. "Yes, what's the matter?"
"If necessary, I can send someone to suppress this matter."
Gianna noticed the anger in Felix's eyes and raised an eyebrow. "No need, I can handle it myself."
Upon hearing this, Felix's brows furrowed even tighter. "Gianna, we are still not divorced, so your affairs are my affairs!"
