Chapter 397

Constance finished washing up and went downstairs to find Felix having breakfast.

She frowned, hesitated for a few seconds, then walked over and sat down opposite him to start her breakfast.

Constance ate a sandwich and drank some porridge.

Felix said, "Done eating? I'll drive you to the office."

Constance pursed her lips. "No need. I'll drive myself."

Earlier, Eliza had the Drake family driver deliver her car to Golden Bay Villas. Constance didn't like driving herself, so she had left it in the garage. But now, not wanting to be alone with Felix, she had no choice but to drive herself.

Felix looked at her, raised an eyebrow, and said, "Are you shy?"

Constance retorted, "I just don't want to see you."

She turned and walked towards the door, but after just a few steps, she heard footsteps behind her. The next second, Felix grabbed her wrist.

Felix said, "I don't feel comfortable with you driving alone. I'll take you."

Constance shook off his hand, a flash of impatience in her eyes. "You can drive me for now, but can you drive me for a lifetime?"

Felix chuckled, "Even if I'm not around, I'll arrange for a driver to take you. I don't want to go through another car accident like last time."

Constance frowned, but then she saw the seriousness and fear in his eyes.

Realizing that he was genuinely worried about her, she felt a strange sensation in her heart.

It was an indescribable feeling, something she had never experienced before.

She instinctively looked away, not daring to meet his gaze. "If you're going to drive me, just do it. Don't make a fuss."

"Alright."

On the way to the office, both of them were rather silent.

After dropping Constance off at the office building, Felix said slowly, "There's a banquet tomorrow night. I want you to come with me."

Constance asked, "What kind of banquet?"

Felix replied, "The president of Vertex Holdings Group is back in the country. They're hosting a business banquet to welcome him."

Constance initially wanted to refuse, but then she thought her father and Samuel might attend the banquet, so she nodded in agreement. "Got it."

Just as she got out of the car and walked a few steps, she ran into Holly, who had taken the subway.

Holly's gaze lingered on the departing Maybach for a few seconds before she looked at Constance and said, "Constance, did your husband drop you off at work?"

"How did you know?" Constance asked and looked at Holly in shock.

Holly smiled. "Did you forget? Last night after dinner, you had your husband drop me off. You fell asleep in the car, and I asked him about your relationship. He said he was your husband."

Constance frowned and thought, 'We're going to divorce in three months, and Felix telling my colleague he's my husband will require an explanation later.'

Thinking about this gave Constance a headache!

Seeing her expression, Holly quickly said, "Don't worry. I won't tell anyone about this."

Constance pursed her lips and said, "Our situation is a bit special. We're technically married, but we're just a bit better than strangers."

"But I think Mr. Clinton really loves you. Last night, every time he stopped at a red light, he would turn to look at you with such tenderness and affection." Seeing that Constance wasn't excited but rather speechless, Holly couldn't help but tentatively ask, "Constance, do you not like your husband?"

Constance said, "Let's not talk about my personal matters. We're almost late for work. Let's go."

Without waiting for Holly's response, she quickly walked towards the office, afraid Holly would ask more questions.

Holly watched her back, a hint of jealousy flashing in her eyes.

As soon as she got to the office, Constance was called into Grant's office.

Grant said, "Constance, the president has decided to go with your design."

Constance declined, "Grant, I already have several projects on hand. If I take on this fashion show project, I might not be able to handle it. Didn't the president like any other designer's work?"

Grant frowned, thinking about how Constance already had three or four projects. It was indeed a bit much. He said, "I'll ask the president."

He immediately called the president and reported the projects Constance was currently handling. The president agreed to assign it to someone else.

After hanging up, Grant smiled and said, "The president chose Holly's design. She's your assistant, and this is her first major project. You should assist her."

Constance nodded. "Of course, that's my duty."

Grant called Holly into the office and informed her that the president had chosen her design.

Holly was overjoyed, her eyes filled with disbelief. "Grant, are you serious? The president really gave me this project?"

Grant replied, "Yes, the president initially chose Constance's design, but she's too busy, so it fell to you. You must do a good job!"

Holly's smile froze for a moment but quickly returned. She walked over to Constance and said, "Constance, thank you! If it weren't for your suggestions, I wouldn't have gotten this opportunity! I'll do my best and won't let you down!"

Constance smiled and nodded. "Alright, do your best. I'm sure you'll do great."

Grant handed the project files to Holly and reminded, "You'll need to design thirty more outfits. Finish them as soon as possible. If you need help, you can always ask Constance."

"Okay, thank you, Grant." Holly replied.

As soon as Holly returned to her desk, everyone was congratulating her on getting the fashion show project for next month.

But amidst the congratulations, Jennifer sent a mocking message: [I heard this project was originally Constance's. She didn't want it, so it fell to you. How does it feel to pick up someone else's leftovers?]

Holly stared at the message for a few seconds, then turned off her phone, a cold glint in her eyes.

She had both talent and determination. One day, she would make everyone see that everything she achieved was through her own efforts.

In Jennifer's office, seeing that Holly didn't reply, Jennifer couldn't help but smile.

Jennifer thought, 'If Holly disagrees with me, she would have defended Constance. Not replying means she also feels the project is Constance's leftover. With that mindset, I can use Holly against Constance. Being betrayed by someone she trusts is a bitter feeling.'

In the evening, when Felix came to pick up Constance, he saw Holly walking out with her and couldn't help but frown.

He had no fondness for Holly. If it weren't for Constance wanting to give her a ride last night, he wouldn't have let Holly in his car.

Seeing Felix, Holly's grip on her files tightened, and her heartbeat quickened.

She glanced at Felix nonchalantly and smiled. "Constance, thank you for today. Your husband is here to pick you up. We'll talk tomorrow!"
