Chapter 289

Bella spun around, heart pounding, to see Felix giving her the coldest stare. Her face went ghostly white.

"Felix, I came to tell you..." Bella started, but Felix cut her off, already closing the distance between them. "Hand over the ring," he demanded, ice in his voice.

Bella clutched the ring box like it was her lifeline. After a tense moment, she reluctantly handed it over.

Felix snatched the ring and turned his back on her, heading straight for his desk.

Seeing him brush her off like that, Bella bit her lip hard, eyes glued to his retreating figure. "Felix, are you planning to propose to Gianna?" she blurted out.

"None of your business. Get out of the Clinton Group, now!" Felix shot back, already engrossed in some document.

Bella felt a pang of hurt but stood her ground, her eyes welling up. "Felix, I know I've messed up a lot. If you really love Gianna and want to propose, I'll step aside and wish you well."

"Get out!" Felix's voice was sharp, his eyes colder than a winter storm.

He used to look at her with such warmth, but now there was nothing but frost. All because of Gianna. Bella swore she wouldn't let them end up together.

She had planned to tell Felix about Thomas hiding out at the Redstone Mansion, but now she decided against it.

Without another word, she stormed out.

On her way back, Bella had someone dig up some dirt and found out Felix had flown in tens of thousands of champagne roses. The Sky Garden Restaurant was getting a major makeover. Her jealousy twisted her face.

Felix was planning to pop the question to Gianna tonight!

No way was she letting that happen!

Back at the Redstone Mansion, Bella barely stepped into her room when a hand clamped around her neck.

Thomas's voice was full of rage. "Bella, what were you doing at the Clinton Group today? Did you rat me out to Felix?"

"Let me go," Bella choked out, shoving him off and coughing. "If I had, do you think I'd be back here?"

Thomas sneered, clearly not buying it.

"You expect me to believe you went to see Felix without planning to spill the beans?" he pressed, shoving a gun to her forehead.

Bella met his gaze coldly and admitted, "Yeah, I was going to tell him."

"Then why didn't you?" Thomas demanded.

Bella took a deep breath, her words deliberate. "Because he's proposing to Gianna. He doesn't give a damn about me anymore. Why should I care about him? Besides, didn't you promise to help me?"

Thomas, seeing no signs of deceit, holstered the gun and smirked. "You better not be lying, or you'll wish you were dead."

"Relax," Bella shot back. "I hate Gianna more than you do. Only if she's out of the picture will I have a shot with Felix."

Thomas didn't care about her feelings and shrugged. "Fine, get close to Felix. But if you harm my kid, I'll make you pay, even if it kills me."

Bella sneered, her eyes mocking. "When I first found out I was pregnant, you forced me to get an abortion. Now you're playing the doting dad?"

Thomas didn't want to get into it and said coldly, "I'll deal with Felix and Gianna. You just focus on the baby."

Bella's eyes narrowed, and she hissed, "I won't let them be together!"

With that, she stormed over to the wardrobe, rummaging through her clothes.

Thomas scowled, "What are you up to now?"

Bella snapped, "None of your damn business. Stay out of it!"

Thomas grabbed her arm, his grip tight. "I don't care what you do, but if you mess with the baby, you're done!"

Bella yanked her arm free and sneered, "Relax, this kid's important to me. I'm definitely having it!"

After a tense standoff, Thomas finally let her go.

After lunch, Bella took a quick nap and then headed out.

At the Clinton Group, James came back from handling some stuff and noticed Bella was gone. He went straight to Felix's office.

"Mr. Clinton, Bella came by earlier. Did you see her?" James asked.

Felix looked up, his eyes cold. "Did you let her into my office?"

James froze, quickly shaking his head. "No, I had her wait in the reception room. Then something came up in procurement, so I went to handle it. When I got back, she was gone, so I came to check."

Felix's gaze was icy. "I don't want to see her here again. No matter what excuse she gives, turn her away."

"Yes, Mr. Clinton," James replied, not daring to ask if Bella had spilled about Thomas. He figured she just wanted an excuse to see Felix.

All afternoon, Felix was on edge, calling multiple times to check on the proposal setup, making the manager double-check everything.

Seeing the proposal site decked out in champagne roses, Felix finally felt a bit better, looking forward to tonight.

As evening rolled around, Gianna was about to pack up when she got a call from Felix.

"Gianna, are you off work?" Felix asked.

"Almost. No need to pick me up; I'll head there myself," Gianna replied.

"Okay, I'll send you the address," Felix said.

Gianna hummed in agreement and hung up.

Soon, Felix sent the address.

Felix: [The famous Sky Garden Restaurant in Dawnridge.]

As she packed her things, Gianna wondered what Felix wanted to talk about tonight. His tone had been serious this morning, so it had to be important.

Just as Gianna finished packing and was about to leave, Otis knocked and walked in.

"Mr. Redstone, Bella is here," Otis said.

Gianna frowned. What was Bella doing here?

"Let her in," Gianna replied.

Bella walked into Gianna's office, seeing her sitting on the sofa with a cold expression. Bella's lips curled up involuntarily. Would Gianna still agree to Felix's proposal after learning the truth?

"What do you want?" Gianna asked, her voice icy.

Seeing the disgust in Gianna's eyes, Bella raised an eyebrow and smiled. After sitting down opposite her, she slowly said, "Gianna, I came to tell you something."

Gianna immediately felt wary. Bella clearly had bad intentions.

"What is it?" Gianna asked.

Bella's smile deepened. "Do you remember almost being burned to death over six months ago?"

"Why are you bringing that up?" Gianna's heart sank, feeling a bad premonition.

Bella sneered, "Felix told you a firefighter saved you, but he lied. Someone else saved you!"

Gianna's heartbeat quickened, and her hand clenched involuntarily.

"What are you trying to say?" Gianna demanded.

Bella stared into her eyes and said slowly, "I just want to tell you the truth. The person who saved you in the fire was Jonah!"
