Chapter 240
Gianna tightened her grip on Felix's shirt without realizing it as they got closer.
Just as their lips were about to meet, a phone rang.
Startled, Gianna jumped off Felix, her face red. "Your phone's ringing. I'll head upstairs."
She turned and hurried away like something was chasing her.
Felix frowned. Since getting back together, they hadn't been as close. He hoped tonight would change that, but the phone call ruined it, leaving him in a bad mood.
Seeing it was from the Clinton family estate, he frowned and answered. Whatever he heard made his face darken.
After hanging up, Felix messaged Gianna and left the villa.
In the bedroom, Gianna's face was still red. She washed her face to calm down.
If not for that call, they might've kissed by now. Thinking about it made her blush again.
She shook her head to clear the thoughts, grabbed her nightgown, and took a shower.
Half an hour later, as Gianna was ready for bed, she saw Felix's message and called him.
The phone rang for a while before Felix answered, his voice deeper than usual. "Gianna, what's up?"
"Where are you?" Gianna asked.
After a pause, Felix replied, "The Clinton family estate."
"Did something happen?"
Normally, Connor and Ximena wouldn't call Felix this late.
Felix spoke after a while, "Yeah, my mom is missing."
Gianna quickly changed her dressed and drove to the Clinton family estate.
In the living room, Connor and Felix sat opposite each other, both looking grim.
Gianna sat next to Felix, "What happened? How could she just disappear?"
Felix shot a cold glance at Connor but said nothing.
Leon explained, "This afternoon, Connor and Ximena had a fight. She said she was going to play cards but didn't come back for dinner. When I called, she never went to play cards. No one knows where she is, and her phone's off."
Connor frowned and said coldly, "It's normal for a couple to fight. She probably wants some time alone. You should all go back."
Gianna knew Connor and Ximena didn't get along, but she didn't expect it to be this bad. His wife had been missing all day, and he wasn't worried.
"Have you sent people to look for her?"
Felix nodded grimly, "Yes, but no news yet."
Just then, his phone rang.
"Felix, we found Ximena's phone in a deserted factory on the outskirts. It's broken, and there's no sign of Ximena or her car."
"Keep looking!"
After hanging up, Felix's face turned even colder.
Gianna pursed her lips and messaged Garrett, asking him to check Ximena's call records.
Soon, Garrett's message came through.
Seeing that Ximena had been in contact with an unknown number since 2:30 p.m., Gianna immediately asked Garrett to find out who the number belonged to.
Five minutes later, Gianna's eyes widened when she saw the name Garrett sent.
The number Ximena had been contacting belonged to Thomas!
"Felix, find out where Thomas is right now!"
Seeing her serious expression, Felix immediately called his subordinate. Then he asked, "What's going on? Is Ximena's disappearance related to Thomas?"
Gianna nodded, "Since 2:30 p.m., Thomas has called her several times. He probably lured her to that deserted factory. She might be kidnapped by Thomas now."
Neither of them noticed Connor's face turning extremely ugly.
Hearing this, Felix was angry, a bloodthirsty glint in his eyes.
"If anything happens to Ximena, I won't let him off!"
After getting Thomas's location from his subordinate, Felix and Gianna set off to find him.
At Dawnridge Cemetery, Thomas stood in front of Jesse and Maria's tombstones, burning paper. Thomas said, "Dad, Mom, the murderer who killed you will die today. Once Ximena is dead, I'll kill Connor too, to atone for their sins!"
A sneer appeared on Thomas's face.
His laughter grew louder, echoing eerily in the empty cemetery.
Gianna and Felix arrived at the cemetery gate just as Thomas was leaving.
Felix quickly stepped forward, grabbed Thomas by the collar, and punched him, his eyes filled with rage.
Thomas stumbled to the ground but smiled mockingly, "Felix, even if you kill me, I won't tell you where Ximena is!"
Felix's eyes flickered with murderous intent as he said, "You're asking for death!"
Seeing Felix about to advance again, Gianna quickly pulled him back. Gianna said, "Felix, calm down. Remember what you promised me on the way here?"
Felix took a deep breath, "I'll give you three minutes."
Gianna let go of him and turned to Thomas, "Your parents' deaths had nothing to do with Felix's parents. Killing them will only add more guilt to your conscience."
Thomas's emotions suddenly flared, and he glared at Gianna, "Shut up! If it weren't for Ximena and Connor, my parents would still be alive. I wouldn't have to take the Clinton Group from Felix. I would have inherited it rightfully!"
Felix looked at him coldly, "Jesse had no business acumen. If he owned the Clinton Group, it would have gone bankrupt in two years."
"Shut up!"
Thomas's face was full of hatred, "Your parents caused my parents' deaths. They must pay the price. Prepare to bury Ximena. I've found a perfect place for her. She should be atoning for her sins to my parents by now."
Hearing this, Felix's face turned extremely dark. Just as he was about to speak, Gianna suddenly said, "The perfect place you mentioned must be somewhere significant to you or your parents. If I'm not mistaken, it's the site of your parents' car accident, right?"
Thomas's eyes widened, and he was about to retort, but Gianna quickly said, "Get the Clinton family to the site of Thomas's parents' car accident immediately!"
As soon as she finished speaking, Thomas burst into laughter, "Even if you go now, it's too late. Felix, you'll soon feel what I felt back then!"
