Chapter 375

Constance grinned, "Well, you can quit your job right now."

Jennifer shot her a sneer. "Constance, I'm the one who's staying, not you."

"Well, I'll be watching."

After Jennifer stormed off, Holly asked, "Constance, what's up with you and her?"

Constance shrugged. "Yeah, there's some beef, but don't sweat it. Get back to work."

At lunch, Holly chatted up some colleagues and finally got the scoop on the Constance-Jennifer drama.

What really blew her mind was finding out Jennifer was the star of last night's live stream. Holly had hit the sack early and only caught the gossip in the group chat this morning. She couldn't believe Jennifer had the guts to show up at work after that. If it were her, she'd be hiding under a rock!

Meanwhile, in Grant's office, Jennifer glared at him, her eyes full of scorn. "Grant, don't say I didn't warn you. Constance is trouble. Stay away from her!"

Grant didn't even look up from his papers. "Jennifer, get out of my office."

"Don't forget, if it weren't for me..."

Grant cut her off coldly. "Yeah, yeah, you saved my mom. I've paid you back plenty. I didn't say anything when you scared off all the women around me, but now you're crossing the line."

"Crossing the line? If it weren't for that money back then, your mom would be dead. Sure, you've paid me back, but you still owe me a favor!"

Grant had enough. He slammed the documents down and glared at her. "Fine, what do you want? One thing, and we're done." His eyes were full of anger and disgust, not a hint of warmth.

Jennifer chuckled, "Are you sure?"

"I'm sure."

"Alright, then marry me."

"No way!" Grant didn't even hesitate. He wasn't about to throw his life away for this.

Jennifer smirked, "I haven't finished. Marry me, and we'll divorce in five years. After that, I'll leave you alone."

The idea of trading five years for a lifetime of peace was tempting for Grant. But he quickly snapped out of it. "I won't agree. Seeing you at work is bad enough. If I have to see you at home too, I'll puke."

Grant's icy words cut deep. In the past, Jennifer would've run off in tears.

But now, she just sneered, "Grant, if you don't agree, then keep suffering. Don't forget, your mom's life is still in my hands. If I'm unhappy, I can end her anytime."

Grant's eyes burned with hatred. "Jennifer, you're the most vile woman I've ever met. You deserve to be alone. No one will ever love someone as low as you!"

The more he cursed, the wider Jennifer's smile grew. "Curse all you want. You can't get rid of me unless one of us dies."

Once, Jennifer believed Grant would eventually love her, no matter how much he hated her. But after yesterday, when he didn't comfort her and said her problems were none of his business, she knew she'd never have his love. So, getting his hatred wasn't too bad either.

"Get out!" Grant yelled. He was like a caged lion, roaring in frustration.

Jennifer smirked and walked out of his office. Clara, who had been eavesdropping by the door, kept her head down, pretending she hadn't heard a thing. But she was thinking, 'Has Jennifer lost it after what happened yesterday? How else could she have changed so much?'

Near the end of the workday, Constance got a message from Jonah, inviting her to dinner. She was about to decline, but Jonah's next message made her reconsider.

She called Felix, "I've got dinner plans tonight. No need to pick me up."

Felix was silent for a moment, then softly said, "Alright, I understand."

As soon as the clock hit quitting time, Constance packed up and left. Jonah was already waiting downstairs. When he saw her, he couldn't help but smile.

Constance walked up to him quickly. "When did you get here? Have you been waiting long?"

Jonah shook his head. "No, I just got here. Let's get in the car."

Neither of them noticed the black Cayenne parked nearby. The moment Constance got into Jonah's car, the atmosphere inside the Cayenne turned icy cold.

"Mr. Clinton, should we follow them?"

"Yes," Felix replied.

Felix kept his head down, half of his face hidden in the shadows. Even without seeing his expression, James knew he was in a foul mood. They tailed Jonah's car for over half an hour, stopping in front of a restaurant.

Seeing the two walk in together, Felix's face darkened even more. He thought, 'Back in Dawnridge, Jonah was always after Constance. I can't believe they're still in touch here in Thundertop!'

"Mr. Clinton, should we go in?" James asked.

Felix's voice was cold. "No need."

Unaware they were being followed, Constance and Jonah sat by the window. Jonah handed her the menu. "Let's order some food first."

"Okay." Constance wasn't really focused on dinner. She picked two random dishes and handed the menu back to Jonah.

After ordering, Constance couldn't wait any longer. "Mr. Getty, what did you want to tell me on Facebook?"

Jonah looked at her and said softly, "I found out you're Gianna, the adopted daughter of the Drake family, not their biological daughter."

Constance was silent for a few seconds, then frowned. "Is that what you wanted to tell me?"

"Of course not. You might have forgotten, but you had a good friend in Dawnridge named Faith. You started a clothing company together. After you disappeared three years ago, she's been running it. Now the company is planning to expand to Thundertop, and she asked me to find out when you'll come back to manage it."

Constance pursed her lips. "Why didn't she come to talk to me herself and asked you to relay the message?"

"She'll be coming to Thundertop in a few days, and she really wants to meet you. But it's up to you."

Constance had always been passive about her past, not wanting to dig up old memories. Because the woman Eliza described to her had a completely different personality from her current self.

But she had overlooked that besides Felix, there might be other beautiful moments in her past, and she even had a good friend.

Thinking of this, Constance felt an indescribable feeling, even a bit of curiosity about her past. She said, "Mr. Getty, I understand. But I'll give her my answer after we meet."
