Chapter 259
"What?"
Faith was floored when Gianna blurted out, "I gotta head overseas for a bit. While I'm gone, you're in charge of all the company stuff."
Before Faith could even process it, Gianna had already hopped into her car, fired up the engine, and rolled down the window. "If you get stuck, just hit me up."
And with that, she sped off.
She drove like a bat outta hell and made it to the airport in under thirty minutes.
As soon as she stepped out of the car, James was there, handing her a ticket. "Gianna, I gotta stay in Dawnridge to handle Felix's stuff, so I can't roll with you."
Gianna grabbed the ticket and tossed him the car keys. "Take the car back for me."
James looked like he wanted to say something, but Gianna was already striding into the airport.
After a grueling six-hour flight, the plane finally touched down at the capital airport in Pheladelfia.
Gianna breezed through the airport and headed straight for Twilight Hotel.
Twilight Hotel, set up by the mastermind behind Twilight, was exclusive to mafia members and the Mercenary Alliance. Besides rooms and food, they offered services like people-finding, weapons trading, and info exchange.
Gianna walked right up to the front desk, pulled out a gold card she hadn't used in ages, and handed it over. "I need to find someone named Felix."
She waited at the front desk for a bit. Soon, the receptionist came back, handed her the card, and whispered, "He's at Hansen's estate."
Gianna's face turned ice-cold. Hansen was a local mafia big shot who only cared about money. He'd pissed off a lot of people but had a ton of followers, making him a tough nut to crack in Pheladelfia.
Felix had come to Pheladelfia to find someone and had been laying low. No way he'd mess with Hansen out of the blue. Someone must've cut a deal with Hansen, leading to Felix getting nabbed by Hansen's crew.
The only person who had beef with Felix and could pull this off was Thomas.
She took the card back and said coldly, "Got it."
Just as she was about to leave, she heard a raspy male voice behind her.
"Iris, long time no see."
Gianna turned to see a guy with dark brown curly hair and deep blue eyes, calm and deep like a lake. He was rocking a royal blue suit and looked to be in his forties, with a faint smile on his face, eyeing Gianna with delight.
Gianna used to be a regular at Twilight Hotel, and they were kinda friends.
Gianna's face was stone-cold. "Matt, you're still hanging around."
Matt grinned and offered her a glass of vodka. "Drink?"
Gianna shook her head. "Nah, got stuff to do."
"If you're planning to see Hansen, I might be able to help."
He tapped the glass lightly, his eyes sharp.
Gianna took the glass and downed it in one go. "Alright, spill it."
Matt poured her another drink. "No rush. We haven't caught up in years. Let's chat first."
Gianna's patience was wearing thin. "I'm not in the mood for chit-chat. Spill it now or forget it."
"Alright, the guy you're looking for has a ten-million-dollar bounty on his head. Hansen's crew grabbed him, and he might already be dead."
Gianna's eyes blazed with anger, and she turned to leave.
Matt called after her. "Don't you need to buy some weapons?"
Gianna spun back, pulled out a dozen coins with special patterns, and slapped them on the table.
Matt pocketed the coins and gave a nod to the bartender, who immediately led Gianna to the armory to pick out some weapons.
Ten minutes later, Gianna strolled out of Twilight Hotel with a black bag slung over her shoulder.
Hansen's mafia had their stronghold in the slums on the city's northeast side. Whenever the cops tried to crack down on them, they'd use the slum residents as human shields. Despite multiple military raids, the authorities had barely made a dent in Hansen's operation.
To set themselves apart from the slum residents, mafia members sported a special tattoo, a symbol of their allegiance.
Gianna had dealt with these guys before and could spot a member with just a glance.
As soon as she stepped into Hansen's turf, two guys pointed guns at her and barked, "Who the hell are you?"
Before they could blink, Gianna moved.
The two men felt a sharp pain in their wrists, and their guns were suddenly in her hands.
"Take me to Hansen."
Gianna's icy stare made the two men flinch. One of them sneered, "Who do you think you are, demanding to see our boss..."
Before he could finish, a bullet pierced his forehead. His eyes went wide, and he crumpled to the ground.
Gianna blew the smoke from the gun barrel and smirked, "If you don't wanna die, lead the way."
Fear flashed in the other guy's eyes. Trembling, he said, "I'll take you there."
Gianna's face stayed cold as she followed him, pretending not to notice the malice in his eyes.
Soon, he led her through a maze of alleys into a rundown building. Suddenly, a dozen mafia members appeared at the staircases, all pointing guns at Gianna, ready to blast her away.
The guide quickly moved behind the group and ratted her out in the local language, saying Gianna had killed one of their men.
The leader's face twisted in anger, and he coldly ordered, "Kill her!"
As soon as the words left his mouth, gunfire erupted in the hallway.
Ten minutes later, the hallway was a bloodbath, bodies strewn everywhere, blood splattered on the bullet-riddled walls, creating a gruesome scene.
The only surviving mafia member looked at the unscathed Gianna in horror, shrinking back.
Gianna walked up to him, her eyes like ice. "Where's Hansen?"
The mafia member stammered out an address. The next second, his eyes went wide in death, staring at Gianna's retreating figure.
Gianna made her way to Hansen's location, taking out anyone who crossed her path. Halfway there, she heard gunfire up ahead.
She found a hidden spot to scope things out and saw Felix fighting off Hansen's men. Her face turned cold, and she quickly ran towards him.
Felix was a bloody mess, barely recognizable.
After getting off the plane, Felix had sensed something was off when he got into the car that came to pick him up. He later realized that the so-called William's brother was a fake, a trap set by Thomas to lure him into a death trap with the mafia.
When the car reached its destination, Felix seized a chance to grab a gun from the guy next to him and fought his way out.
But there were too many enemies, and he didn't know the area. He had to keep snatching guns from the bad guys to fight back while looking for a way to escape.
The enemies kept coming, and his strength was fading. He'd already been shot twice.
As he fired his last bullet, his energy finally gave out, and he collapsed to the ground.
But instead of hitting the cold, hard ground, he was held in a warm embrace.
A familiar scent surrounded him. Felix opened his eyes in disbelief and saw Gianna's exquisite and cold face.
Amidst the chaos, she was the only thing he could see.
