Chapter 257
Felix brushed off the provocation and said coolly, "Are you done?"
Thomas's face tightened, but he replied confidently, "Felix, even with more evidence, you can't touch me. Try anything, and I'll watch the Clinton Group fall apart."
"You won't get that chance," Felix shot back.
Thomas's eyes filled with contempt. Just as he was about to speak again, his phone rang.
Seeing the caller ID, he looked shocked. 'NightShadow's people usually texted. Why are they calling now?'
"Aren't you going to answer that?" Felix smirked.
Thomas glared at Felix, stood up, and took the call outside.
Whatever he heard on the call made him turn back angrily, glaring at Felix. "This is your doing, isn't it?"
NightShadow had just told him Felix discovered their location, leading to the loss of most of their men. This happened because Thomas got caught by the police, and they exposed themselves trying to save him.
Felix stayed calm, "This is just the beginning."
Thomas sneered, "Fine, let's see who wins!"
Back in the office, Thomas said coldly to Jason, "Come here, I need to tell you something."
Jason walked over, and Thomas whispered to him. The next second, Jason's expression changed.
"Mr. Clinton, they said not to make any moves right now." Jason said.
Thomas sneered, "They only said to leave Felix alone. Do as I say, and I'll take the blame!"
NightShadow still needed him for the Clinton family heirloom. They wouldn't harm him before getting it.
But Thomas wasn't dumb. He wouldn't really help them. Once he got his revenge, he planned to disappear. Whether NightShadow got the heirloom or not was no longer his concern.
Jason frowned, "Thomas, I think..."
Thomas cut him off coldly, "Are you my subordinate or not? If you can't handle this, I'll find someone who can."
Jason had no choice but to nod, "Alright, I'll do it."
Thomas waved him off irritably, "Fine, go."
That evening, Gianna had just finished work when Felix called.
Felix said, "Gianna, I found out William has a brother abroad. I need to go overseas and will be back in a week."
Gianna frowned, "Can't you bring him here?"
"He wants to give me something in person and won't come back." Felix replied.
Feeling uneasy, she said, "I'll go with you."
"No need, I'm about to go through security. I'll call you when I land."
Felix hung up.
Gianna put away her phone, trying to shake off her unease, and drove back to Elm Bay.
At Dawnridge Summit Medical Hospital, in the special care ward, Ximena slowly opened her eyes, squinting against the bright lights.
A nurse noticed and excitedly called the doctor.
Soon, the doctor came to check on her.
After a thorough check, the doctor smiled, "Mrs. White, it's a miracle you're awake. I'll notify Felix right away."
Less than half an hour later, Gianna arrived at the hospital.
Seeing her, Ximena frowned, "Why are you here? Where's Felix? I need to talk to him."
Gianna replied calmly, "He's abroad and will be back in a week."
"Why so long? Is there something more important than my waking up? Call him now and tell him to come back!"
"He's investigating the car accident involving Thomas's parents. Even if he knew you woke up, he wouldn't come back."
Ximena's face tightened, and she gritted her teeth, "I already know the truth. Tell him to come back immediately!"
Gianna sighed, "He's on a plane. Even if he needs to come back, it has to wait until he lands."
Ximena gave her a dissatisfied look and snapped, "Help me up, I need to go to the bathroom."
"I'll get a nurse to help you."
Though she was back with Felix, Gianna had no intention of pleasing Ximena. Ximena looked down on her, and no matter what she did, it wouldn't matter.
Ximena gritted her teeth in anger and said sarcastically, "If it were Bella, she would take care of me herself. You won't even help with this."
Gianna smirked, "Should I call Bella for you? See if she's willing to come take care of you?"
"You're so sharp-tongued. I don't know why Felix like you," Ximena said angrily.
Gianna didn't bother to respond and went to get a nurse.
After Ximena returned from the bathroom, Gianna said indifferently, "If there's nothing else, I'll be leaving."
Ximena stayed silent, her face cold.
Gianna didn't care and instructed Felix's bodyguards to protect her before leaving.
Not long after Gianna left, Connor rushed to the hospital.
Seeing him, Ximena sneered, "Connor, you have the nerve to show up?"
Connor frowned, "What do you mean?"
"You know exactly what I mean. Do I need to tell everyone what you did to Maria back then?"
Connor's face turned sullen, and he gritted his teeth, "I don't know what you're talking about."
"Back then, at the old house, when no one was home, you sneaked into Maria's room and tried to assault her. If Jesse hadn't arrived in time, you would have succeeded. You disgust me!"
She had thought Connor merely admired Maria, but he had tried to ravish her. It was despicable!
Connor's face turned pale. He hadn't expected Ximena to find out about something he had kept hidden for so long!
"Who told you this?" Connor asked.
Only three people knew about this besides him: Jesse and Maria, who were dead, and William, who was now a lunatic. How did Ximena find out?
Ximena sneered, "Thomas told me. Why would I go to him in the midnight and almost get killed?"
"How would he know?!" Connor asked.
Thomas was only six years old at the time. He shouldn't have known about this!
"I don't know. If you're so curious, ask him yourself!" Ximena said.
With Ximena's words, the room fell silent.
After a moment, Connor said slowly, "This must never get out. It would affect not just me but Felix as well."
Ximena looked at him mockingly, "When you did it, did you think about how it would affect Felix? Now you're pretending to care. It's disgusting!"
