Chapter 356

Ignoring Jennifer's frozen look, Constance spun around and marched straight into her office.

Jennifer felt a wave of anger and tightened her grip on the flowers without even realizing it.

'Constance must've done that on purpose,' she fumed internally. 'If she weren't a Drake, I'd have thrown these flowers right at her!'

She shot a cold glance at the onlookers and snapped, "Don't you all have work to do?"

Everyone quickly looked away, avoiding her gaze.

Jennifer huffed, tossed the flowers into the trash, and stormed off to her own office.

Once inside, she immediately called Eric. "Eric, Constance didn't take your flowers. She said she's allergic to pollen!"

Eric chuckled softly. "Jennifer, it's no big deal. Why get so worked up? I want to marry her, so I have to keep her happy."

Jennifer snorted. "But it ticks me off. You're my brother, and there are tons of socialites in Thundertop who'd love to be with you. What makes Constance so special that she can act all high and mighty?"

Eric replied, "Being a Drake is enough to outshine those other women."

Plus, Eric had never seen a socialite as stunning as Constance. The moment he laid eyes on her, he knew he had to marry her.

Jennifer sighed. "Fine, I'll put up with her for your sake. But don't forget, you promised to help me get revenge after you marry her."

"Don't worry. You're my sister. Of course, I'll help you."

After soothing Jennifer, Eric hung up the phone and, recalling seeing Constance outside Luminary Ventures Group yesterday, immediately called his secretary. "Clear my schedule for tonight."

That evening, as Constance walked out of Luminary Ventures Group, she spotted Eric standing next to a discreet Range Rover.

Seeing her, Eric smiled and quickly walked over.

"Miss Drake," he said, smiling, "I'd like to invite you to dinner tonight to apologize on behalf of Jennifer. Are you free?"

Constance was taken aback and then frowned. "Eric, are you trying to pursue me?"

Eric grinned. "I thought I made that pretty clear."

Constance said, "Well, let me be clear—I have no interest in dating right now. Please don't bother me."

A flash of ruthlessness crossed Eric's eyes, followed by a hint of sadness. "Why? Do you dislike me?"

"This isn't about liking you or not. I just want to focus on my work."

Just as Eric was about to respond, a cold voice cut in. "Mr. Chambers, Constance has already said she's not interested. Continuing to bother her is pointless, isn't it?"

Both Constance and Eric turned to see Felix, their reactions completely different.

Eric looked surprised, while Constance seemed annoyed.

'Why is it always him?' she thought.

Eric quickly composed himself and eyed Felix warily. "Mr. Clinton, I'm Miss Drake's suitor. I'm pursuing her, not pestering her as you say."

Felix smirked. "If I heard right, Constance just clearly rejected you, didn't she?"

Before he could finish, Constance interjected, "Mr. Clinton, please call me Miss Drake, just like Eric."

Felix met Constance's icy stare, a hint of sadness in his eyes.

"I understand," Felix replied.

It was after work hours, and Constance didn't want to keep dealing with these two, especially since she might run into colleagues. She turned and walked away.

Eric tried to follow, but Felix stepped in his way.

Felix warned, "Mr. Chambers, I suggest you stop bothering Constance. Otherwise, the cooperation between the Clinton Group and the Chambers Group might come to an end."

Eric's face went stiff. Felix had hit a sore spot, but he wasn't ready to give up on Constance.

"Mr. Clinton, I like Miss Drake. Pursuing her is my right. You can't dictate that," Eric retorted.

Felix smiled, but his tone was icy. "True, I can't dictate that. But I can terminate the cooperation with the Chambers Group."

"Don't you think that's low?" Eric asked angrily.

Felix's expression turned colder. "So what if it is? If you're not afraid of the Chambers Group going under, go ahead and keep pestering Constance."

With that, Felix walked away.

Eric glared at his back, eyes filled with malice and frustration.

Fuming, he got back in the car. Jennifer quickly asked, "Eric, did you just have a run-in with Felix?"

"No, let's go back."

Seeing his dark mood, Jennifer didn't dare say more. She sat quietly, hoping Eric would calm down soon.

After all, Eric's anger was terrifying. She didn't want to experience that again.

Constance had plans to have dinner with Rebecca at a restaurant. As soon as she got out of the car, she ran into Felix, and she couldn't help but frown.

'What bad luck, running into this guy everywhere!' she thought.

Seeing the disgust in her eyes, Felix felt a twinge of self-mockery. It seemed her opinion of him was no better than of Eric.

Constance quickly looked away, pretending not to see him, and walked briskly into the restaurant.

Felix followed her, his gaze making her feel prickly until she entered the private room and felt his eyes finally leave her.

Rebecca had already ordered a couple of dishes. She handed the menu to Constance and asked, "Why do you look so upset? Something bad happen at work today?"

"No, just ran into an annoying person at the door."

Constance added two dishes and a dessert to the order and handed the menu to the waiter.

"By the way, I asked you to dinner because I need your help with something."

Constance raised an eyebrow. "What is it?"

Rebecca replied, "You know my company recently invested in a new show and needs a designer for the costumes. But the designer we had lined up suddenly got pregnant and left. Now we can't find anyone, so I was hoping you could help."

Constance asked, "How many costumes do you need?"

Rebecca whispered a number, and Constance frowned. "I have a job, but I can draw the designs after work. I won't have time to oversee the modifications on-site."

Rebecca said, "Don't worry about that. We've recently hired a few new costume designers. They might find designing difficult, but they can handle modifications."

Constance nodded and smiled. "Alright, let's talk about the payment."

"Twenty thousand dollars per costume. That's the highest I can offer." Rebecca blushed, knowing Constance's designs usually cost much more. She quickly added, "Once the show airs and I get paid, I'll give you half!"

Seeing Rebecca's pained expression, Constance's smile deepened. "Alright, I'll give you a friendship discount since you're my best friend!"

Rebecca was so excited that if the table weren't in the way, she would have hugged Constance. "Constance, I knew you were the best! Take my heart!"
