Chapter 384
Felix's face tightened for a second. "Grandma, it's not like that. She's just really swamped."
Natalie looked heartbroken, her eyes red, and said, "I get it. You brought me to the airport to send me back to Dawnridge?"
"Yeah."
"Alright, let's go." She turned and walked into the airport, her steps shaky, looking pretty sad.
Felix's eyes darkened, and he slowly followed her.
After getting through security, they waited in the VIP lounge for their flight.
After a long silence, Natalie finally said, "Gianna's been through a lot. You gotta treat her right and never let her be sad again."
Honestly, the Clinton family owed Constance big time, so it made sense she didn't want to see them, even Natalie.
"Yeah, I know." Felix's voice was a bit muffled. He wasn't sure if Constance would give him another shot.
Soon, it was time to board. Felix helped Natalie to the gate. After checking in, Natalie looked back once, then lowered her head in disappointment and turned to board the plane.
Felix knew what Natalie was hoping for. If it were the old Gianna, she might have come, but the current Constance had no such memories. To Constance, Natalie was just a stranger, so why would she come?
They boarded the plane, and the flight attendants reminded everyone that the plane would take off in fifteen minutes and to turn off all electronic devices.
Felix took out his phone, intending to turn it off, when he saw a message from James sent over an hour ago: [Mr. Clinton, I talked to Miss Drake, but she still refuses to see Mrs. Natalie Clinton.]
A trace of disappointment flashed in Felix's eyes as he pressed the power button.
From her attitude towards Natalie, it was clear that Constance really didn't want to have any further connection with him.
"Ladies and gentlemen, our plane is about to take off. Please cooperate with the cabin crew for the safety check and fasten your seat belts."
As the announcement played, the cabin door closed.
Natalie kept looking out the window, her expression dazed, lost in thought.
Felix helped her fasten her seat belt and said softly, "Grandma, don't be sad. I'll definitely bring her to Dawnridge to see you in the future."
Natalie knew he was just trying to comfort her and forced a smile. "Okay."
After the flight attendants checked all the passengers' seat belts, they returned to their seats and fastened their own seat belts, waiting for the plane to take off.
Suddenly, the co-pilot came out and whispered a few words to the flight attendants.
Everyone looked puzzled, and some began to whisper.
"What's going on? It's already time to take off. Why aren't we taking off?"
"Is there a delay? I have things to do in Dawnridge!"
"I have a bad feeling about this."
A flight attendant stood up and said, "Ladies and gentlemen, I'm sorry. We just received a notification from Dawnridge that there will be heavy rain in an hour, lasting for five hours, so the plane cannot take off now. The specific take-off time is to be determined. Please return to the waiting hall in an orderly manner."
Some people silently took their luggage and got off the plane, while others cursed, making the cabin chaotic.
Felix waited until most people had disembarked before helping Natalie off the plane.
As soon as they returned to the VIP lounge and turned on his phone, a call came in.
Seeing it was Constance, Felix's eyes widened in surprise.
As soon as he answered, Constance's slightly breathless voice came through. "Mr. Clinton, did you and Natalie board the plane?"
Felix lowered his eyes and instinctively asked, "Are you willing to see Grandma?"
"Yes, I'm at the airport now. When does your flight take off?"
Felix said, "We're in the VIP lounge. Come directly, and I'll have someone bring you in."
"Okay."
After hanging up, Felix immediately contacted airport staff to bring Constance in.
Hearing his words, Natalie's expression changed from initial disappointment to anticipation and excitement. As soon as Felix hung up, she quickly asked, "Is Gianna coming?"
Felix nodded. "Yes."
Natalie lit up. "I knew Gianna wouldn't refuse to see me. I even brought her favorite snacks in my bag. I'll get them out now."
Saying this, Natalie began to rummage through her bag.
Soon, Constance arrived in front of them, led by the staff.
On the way to the airport, she had wondered what kind of person Natalie would be.
However, seeing Natalie in person, a surge of indescribable feelings welled up in her heart, some warmth and a desire to cry.
"Grandma," Constance couldn't help but call out.
Natalie's eyes were red, but she smiled. "Gianna!"
Natalie handed the snacks she was holding to Constance, her voice choked, "These are your favorite snacks. Do you remember?"
Constance glanced down and found they were indeed her favorites, making Natalie seem even more endearing.
She squatted down and took the snacks from Natalie's hands. "Thank you, Grandma. These are indeed my favorites."
Hearing this, Natalie relaxed. "That's good. I've been forgetful these past six months, afraid I'd remember wrong what you like to eat."
Constance shook her head. "No, you remembered it just right."
Natalie smiled. "Gianna, I'm so happy you came."
Constance's hand holding the snacks tightened slightly. She suddenly felt a desire to regain her memories.
Even though she once loved Felix humbly, Natalie must have treated her very well. And she had so many friends. Rejecting her past memories because of Felix was a kind of hurt to those who cared for her.
At this moment, Constance made a firm decision in her heart.
The two talked for a while until the announcement informed them that their flight was about to take off. Constance reluctantly saw Natalie off.
Although they hadn't spent much time together, she could feel that Natalie genuinely liked her.
After seeing them board the plane, Constance returned directly to the Drake family. When she walked into the villa, Eliza was making quesadillas to bring to Constance.
Seeing Constance return, she looked surprised. "Constance, why did you come back suddenly? Did something happen?"
Constance walked up to her, her expression serious. "Mom, I want to get my memories back."
The quesadillas in Eliza's hand fell onto the table. After a while, she frowned and said, "Why do you suddenly want to regain your memories? Those past memories weren't good for you."
"I know, and I don't like the self that loved Felix humbly, but besides Felix, there are many other precious memories. I don't want to deny all of my past just because of him," Constance stated resolutely.
Seeing Constance's determined expression, Eliza knew it was useless to persuade her and said gravely, "Are you sure you've thought it through?"
