Chapter 118

Gianna lowered her gaze and nodded, "Okay."

After Faith left, Gianna called Adrian. Knowing that Sunnydale Meadows had temporarily stabilized, she said, "Adrian, there's no rush with the fabric production. We can start after the flood recedes."

"Alright. Thank you for being understanding, Miss Redstone."

After hanging up, Gianna received a call from Felix.

"Lunch together?"

Gianna pursed her lips. "The Clinton Group is a bit far from MY FASHION. It might be tight."

"I'll leave half an hour early from the Clinton Group."

"Mr. Clinton, I haven't decided yet."

Felix chuckled softly and said, "I just want to have a meal with you, not looking for answers."

"Alright, what would you like to eat?"

"Shouldn't I be asking you that?"

Sensing the playful tone in Felix's voice, Gianna's heart couldn't help but beat a bit faster. "I'm fine with anything."

"How about Mexican food?"

Gianna's hand holding the phone unconsciously tightened. "Mr. Clinton, you don't have to accommodate me specially. Just pick a restaurant where we both can eat."

After a few seconds of silence, Felix whispered, "Okay."

"I still have work to do, so let's leave it at that."

After ending the call, Gianna touched her slightly flushed face, her lips involuntarily curling.

Gianna picked up the files to continue reading. Initially, she could focus; but as noon approached, her attention became increasingly difficult to maintain.

Finally making it to noon, Gianna checked her phone. Felix had already sent her the name and location of the restaurant.

She touched up her lipstick in the restroom and, as she was about to take the elevator, she ran into Faith.

Faith looked at her in surprise. "You're going out for lunch?"

Gianna nodded, "Yes."

"Alone?"

"No, I have plans with someone else."

Afraid that Faith would continue questioning her, Gianna quickly said, "I just remembered I left something in the office. You go ahead; I'll go later."

"Alright."

Watching Gianna hurriedly leave, Faith raised an eyebrow. 'Was it just my imagination? Why is she so strange today?' She thought.

After sitting in the office for a few minutes, assuming Faith had already left, Gianna finally went out.

When she arrived at the restaurant, Felix was already waiting there.

When Gianna walked towards him, her gaze kept wandering around, as if looking for someone she knew. Felix couldn't help but furrow his brow.

Finally, after sitting down opposite Felix, Gianna looked at him.

"Have you ordered the food?"

Felix handed her the menu. "No, you take a look at what you want to eat. I've already booked the restaurant, so no one will disturb us."

Upon hearing this, Gianna suddenly breathed a sigh of relief and took the menu.

However, Felix's expression darkened slightly. After Gianna finished ordering, he casually said, "Don't you want others to see us having a meal together?"

Gianna hesitated for a moment, then pursed her lips and said, "I'm just afraid of running into acquaintances and having to explain. After all, our current identities are a bit awkward."

Felix didn't say anything more, but there was a noticeable heaviness in the air around him.

"Are you upset?"

"No." Felix picked up his cup and took a sip, his tone somewhat dry.

Sensing Felix's displeasure, Gianna initially wanted to say something to ease the tension but then remembered that she hadn't decided whether to give each other a second chance, so she lowered her gaze and remained silent.

Since they were the only ones in the restaurant, the food was served quickly.

Although Felix was annoyed by Gianna's attempt to avoid being seen dining with him, he still took the initiative to chat with her during the meal.

"So, what was the main purpose of your business trip to Sunnydale Meadows?"

Gianna swallowed her food and calmly replied, "MY FASHION plans to collaborate with the fabric factory in Sunnydale Meadows, so they sent me over to inspect."

"Didn't you say you were a janitor last time? Does your company's janitor also do this kind of work?"

After a few seconds of silence, Gianna looked up at Felix and said, "You actually believed I was a janitor?"

"Of course not, so what do you do at MY FASHION?"

Gianna took a sip of soup and calmly looked at Felix, "You should have already investigated that, right?"

When Gianna returned to MY FASHION, Faith had created a fake entry information for her. If anyone inquired at the HR department, they would only find that fake information.

Felix furrowed his brow. "Do you have so little trust in me?"

Since learning that Gianna didn't like him investigating her, he had stopped Sophia from continuing the investigation further. Sometimes he would just had Sophia check her location.

Seeing the displeasure in Felix's eyes, Gianna unconsciously tightened her grip on the fork and whispered, "I'm sorry, I misunderstood you."

"Rest assured. In the future, if there's something you don't want to tell me, I won't pry. After all, everyone has secrets they don't want to share."

Similarly, Felix also had some things he couldn't tell Gianna.

Gianna felt that Felix had indeed changed a lot. He used to never care about others' feelings, but now he was willing to take care of her emotions.

Thinking of this, Gianna smiled and said, "I'm just an ordinary staff at MY FASHION, doing a job similar to a secretary, more like an assistant."

Felix also knew about Gianna not graduating from high school, so this job wasn't too difficult for her.

Considering how people used to gossip about Gianna not finishing high school, Felix looked at her seriously and asked, "Have you ever thought about completing high school? It's not too late for you to go to college at your age."

Surprise flickered in Gianna's eyes, then she shook her head and said, "No, a college degree is not necessary for me."

Besides, just before the Redstone family found her, she had already obtained a doctoral degree.

Back then, she went to high school because her master advised her not to stand out too much from ordinary people, so Julian and Lauren agreed to let her enroll in high school.

After the incident happened, Gianna didn't go back to continue studying.

Felix frowned, "Do you plan to live your whole life with just a middle school diploma?"

Although Felix didn't mind, he didn't want others to look down on Gianna.

"Even if I get a university degree, it doesn't seem like it would change my life."

"At the very least, people won't say you didn't even finish high school when they mention you."

Gianna fell silent for a moment, her gaze turning indifferent.

"Mr. Clinton, it seems you've misunderstood something."

"What?"

"Let's set aside the fact that I haven't agreed to start over with you. Even if I did, you have no right to demand change from me. If you don't like someone with just a middle school diploma, you can easily find a girl with a university degree to be with. And if, in order to gain your approval, I agree to go back to university, will you have more demands for me to change in the future?"

Felix's eyes briefly flashed with displeasure, his voice lowering slightly. "I was just trying to help you."

"I don't need it. I know very well what I want."

Felix didn't say anything more, and the meal that followed was rather silent.

After the meal, Gianna declined Felix's offer to drive her back to the company and left after bidding him goodbye.

Unexpectedly, as soon as she arrived at the company's entrance, she encountered Ximena who had come to see her.

"Gianna, let's talk!"
