Chapter 362

Felix leaned back and said, "I don't want anything. Just give me another shot at winning you over."

Constance's eyes flashed with disgust. "I'm not giving you another chance to hurt me. If you don't know what you want, take your time to figure it out and let me know."

With that, she turned and walked away. She headed to James's hospital room, where he was getting ready to be discharged. When he saw her, surprise flickered in his eyes.

"Miss Drake, what brings you here?" James asked.

Constance smiled. "I'm getting discharged today, so I wanted to see you and say thanks."

"No need to be so formal. Your family has already given me plenty of gifts."

"That's different," Constance said. "If it weren't for you and Mr. Clinton, I'd be dead. I owe you one. If you ever need anything, just let me know."

James looked a bit flattered and nodded. "Alright."

"Okay, I won't keep you. Goodbye."

After leaving James's room, Constance headed straight back to the Drake family estate. As soon as she walked into the villa, she saw Timothy and Eliza sitting on the sofa, looking serious.

"Dad, Mom, what's wrong? Why do you look so serious?" Constance asked.

Eliza waved her over. "Constance, we found out the truth about your car accident. It was one of your dad's business rivals. He couldn't get to your dad, so he targeted you. The guy's been arrested, so you don't need to worry anymore."

Constance frowned, confused. "I just got back to the country. How did Dad's rival even know about me?"

Eliza sighed, looking uneasy. "He's been watching the Drake family. He had someone follow you from the day you returned."

It made sense, but Constance still felt something was off. "Alright, I get it. I'll be more careful when I go out."

After Constance went upstairs, Eliza lowered her voice. "Can we really not dig deeper? Constance almost died!"

Timothy's face was grim. "We can't investigate openly, but I'll keep looking into it secretly. I'll find out who really wants to harm Constance."

He didn't buy the police report. That rival had to be acting on someone's orders, and the real target was Constance all along.

Eliza pressed her lips together. "Bring Tom and Trevor back ASAP. They weren't around when Constance was attacked, and I think there's a traitor in Black Security."

Her face was cold. If it weren't for her previous injuries, she'd still be working at the Drake Group with Timothy and their sons. Eliza's leadership had always made her team the most effective in the company.

Timothy nodded. "Okay. I've already asked Brandon to investigate. We should find the traitor soon."

They didn't say anything more. Timothy went to his study to work, and Eliza went to her room to rest.

Meanwhile, Felix's men came back with their investigation results.

When Felix heard that the person who targeted Constance was a rival of the Drake Group and had been arrested, he said coldly, "Since he's been arrested, he should never come out again."

"Got it, Mr. Clinton. I'll take care of it."

After his subordinate left, Felix stared out the window, thinking about what Constance had said to him today.

He chuckled to himself. 'Just when I find out she's alive and I'm still riding that high, she tells me I don't get another chance. What a failure. But no matter what, I'm not giving up. I've chosen her, and I'm the only one who's gonna spend the rest of my life with her.'

That evening, Constance called up Rebecca to come grab the finished design sketches.

Rebecca's eyes lit up with surprise and excitement when she saw them. She couldn't help but hug Constance tightly. "Constance, you're amazing! I admire you so much!"

Constance gently pushed her away. "Alright, you should head back now. It's getting late."

"Okay. By the way, when we start filming, you should come to the set if you have time. We've got two award-winning actresses going head-to-head. It's gonna be epic!"

Constance raised an eyebrow. "You want me to come for fun, but really, you want me to tweak the costumes, right?"

Rebecca squinted and smiled. "How could you think that? I really just want you to come and have fun. But if you could help with the costumes, that'd be awesome. After all, you designed them, and seeing the actors might help you make adjustments."

Constance replied, "Alright, I get it. I'll come if I have time."

"Great, I'll head back now."

After chilling at home for a few more days, Constance returned to work at Luminary Ventures Group.

As soon as she got back to the office, Grant handed her a stack of files. "Constance, these projects need their costumes done within a month. Think you can handle it?"

Constance glanced at the workload. "Yeah, I can manage."

Grant grinned, "Awesome. You'll have to hustle for a bit, but there are bonuses for these projects. I'll also apply to the VP for you to get a few days off afterward."

"Thanks in advance."

Grant raised an eyebrow. "Constance, I have high hopes for you. Don't let me down!"

"I'll do my best not to disappoint you."

"Alright, get to work then."

As soon as Constance left the office, she bumped into Jennifer, who was looking for Grant.

Seeing the files in Constance's hands, a flash of jealousy and anger crossed Jennifer's eyes. She forced a smile. "Constance, you just got back, and Grant's already piled on the work. That's too much. If it's too hard, I can talk to Grant for you."

Before she could finish, Constance cut her off coldly. "Thanks for the offer, Jennifer, but it's not necessary."

Without waiting for Jennifer's reaction, Constance walked past her quickly.

Jennifer turned to glare at Constance's back, her eyes filled with malice. 'I've already tried to make peace with Constance, but she still acts superior. I have to teach her a lesson! Since she likes to show off so much, I'll make sure she does in front of the collaborators and other designers!'

Back in her office, Constance opened the files and reviewed them carefully, prioritizing the projects by urgency.

The first project was designing gowns for a fashion show next month. Many famous brands from Thundertop would be participating. If her designs could stand out, it would be a huge boost for both the company and her personal exposure as a designer.

The fashion show aimed to attract high-end brands and collaborations. If recognized, Luminary Ventures Group's clothing line would benefit greatly.

Grant had made it clear earlier that not only would she submit her designs, but other designers would also have a shot. The final designs for the show would be chosen by the company.

Constance wasn't worried about losing to others; she was confident in her designs.

Pushing aside other distracting thoughts, Constance began to sketch her designs. She was so focused that several unique and memorable designs quickly appeared on her paper.

Before she knew it, it was noon. Just as she put down her pen, her phone rang.
