Chapter 264

"You take it to Mrs. Natalie Clinton."

"Got it."

Seeing Felix's bloodshot eyes, James quickly said, "Mr. Clinton, you should head home and crash. It's already past midnight."

Felix nodded, "Alright, hit me up if anything comes up."

By the time he rolled back into Elm Bay, it was already past 1 a.m.

The lights in the villa were still on. Felix opened the door and saw Gianna knocked out on the couch. He instinctively tiptoed.

Walking over to Gianna, he was about to scoop her up and take her to the bedroom when she stirred.

She woke up, saw Felix, and slowly sat up.

"What time is it now?" Gianna asked.

"It's past 1 a.m. I'll carry you upstairs to sleep," Felix replied.

"No need," Gianna said.

Gianna looked up at him, her expression calm, "You should explain why you came back so late."

Felix plopped down beside her and recounted the day's events, but he conveniently left out the part about taking Bella to the hospital for an abortion.

After listening, Gianna lowered her eyes, her hands on her lap slowly clenching.

"Is that all? Nothing else you wanna tell me?" Gianna asked.

Felix frowned and thought for a moment, then smiled, "That's all. Wasn't today thrilling enough?"

Gianna pressed her lips together, not asking further, and stood up, "You've had a long day. Go rest."

With that, she turned and went upstairs.

Watching her back, Felix felt her reaction and attitude were kinda cold, and he couldn't help but frown.

'Could she know that I took Bella to the hospital?' Felix wondered.

Felix felt panic and immediately called James.

"Did you manage to keep the news that I took Bella to the hospital under wraps?" Felix asked.

After a few seconds, James's cautious voice came through, "Mr. Clinton, I meant to tell you, but I forgot because I was so swamped today. You and Bella were snapped by reporters at the hospital, and the news is all over Dawnridge."

Felix's expression turned icy, "Got it."

After hanging up, Felix couldn't help but feel regretful and pissed at himself.

Gianna already knew everything. Her last question was giving him a chance to come clean, but he foolishly thought he had kept it a secret.

After sitting on the couch for a while, he decided to go upstairs and talk to Gianna.

Gathering his courage, he knocked on Gianna's bedroom door and said softly, "Gianna, I need to talk to you. Can you open the door?"

Gianna replied quickly, "It's too late today. Let's talk tomorrow."

Hearing her indifferent tone, Felix felt a surge of panic.

"No, this is important. It has to be now," Felix said.

After a moment, Gianna opened the door, "What is it?"

"Today, I went to the hospital with Bella."

As soon as he finished speaking, he saw Gianna smirking at him, "I didn't know you were so helpful. Anyone who didn't know better would think Bella's baby was yours."

"Gianna, let me explain. You know about Thomas kidnapping my grandma and mom. During those days in the basement, Bella secretly brought them food, keeping them alive. She also tipped us off, allowing us to rescue them. I owe her a favor!"

Gianna gave a mocking smile, "So you thank her by playing baby daddy at the OB-GYN? And getting snapped by reporters, making it front-page news?"

Felix's face turned dark, "No, she said she didn't want to keep the baby and was scared to go alone, so I went with her."

Gianna was quiet for a bit, then looked down, "I get why you did it, but I don't agree with it. I even gave you a chance to come clean. If the reporters hadn't spilled the beans, were you planning to keep it from me forever?"

"No, I just didn't know how to tell you, afraid it would mess up our relationship."

Gianna laughed, "You were afraid of messing up our relationship, so you lied to me? Should I be grateful?"

Felix pressed his lips tightly, "Gianna, I swear, the only person I care about now is you. I screwed up, and it won't happen again."

"It's late, and you've had a long day. Go rest."

Seeing her about to close the door, Felix quickly held it open.

"Gianna, you're still mad at me, right?"

Gianna looked up at him, "Shouldn't I be mad?"

Felix had no response. He thought his cleverness had backfired today.

"Alright, get some rest. We'll talk in the morning."

As soon as he finished speaking, Gianna closed the door.

The next morning, Felix woke up to find Gianna had already left, clearly dodging him.

Meanwhile, Gianna had arrived at the hospital.

Due to being stuck in a damp basement and not eating well, Natalie's leg hurt again, and she had to use a wheelchair.

Seeing Gianna, her eyes lit up with joy.

"Gianna, you're here!" Natalie smiled.

Gianna handed her the clam chowder, smiling, "Natalie, your favorite clam chowder."

"Hahaha, you always know me best."

Natalie laughed heartily, her eyes full of delight.

"Natalie, the company was crazy busy yesterday. By the time I got off work, you were already asleep, so I didn't come to see you. You aren't mad, are you?"

"You silly girl, how could I be mad over something like that? If it weren't for you, I wouldn't be alive today. I don't sweat the small stuff."

Hearing this, Gianna hugged Natalie, acting spoiled, "I knew you loved me the most!"

"Do you have to go back to work later?"

Gianna nodded, "Yeah, I still have an hour, so I can hang with you for a bit."

"Good, I just don't want to mess up your work. By the way, where's Felix? Why didn't he come with you?"

Her smile faded a bit, and she said, "He was still sleeping when I left, and he came home super late last night, so I didn't wake him."

Sensing her down mood, Natalie didn't push further.

Previously, her meddling in Felix and Gianna's relationship had driven them apart, even leading to divorce. Now that they were starting over, she felt it was best to let it go.

After chatting with Natalie for a while, Gianna went to work.

Around 8 a.m., Felix showed up.

Seeing that Natalie was recovering well and looking better, Felix's expression softened.

"Grandma, the doc said you can go home to recover in a few days."

Natalie looked at him, her expression calm, "Let's not talk about me. Felix, is there something wrong between you and Gianna?"
