Chapter 330
Connor rolled up to the hospital an hour later, looking all kinds of stressed.
He walked into the ward and saw Ximena staring off into space. He frowned and snapped, "What's the big emergency? I got a ton of work at the office and a meeting later."
Before he could say more, Ximena shoved a paternity test report at him, her voice icy. "This is the paternity test for Felix and me."
Connor's face went blank for a sec. He grabbed the report, flipped to the last page, and saw the line that said there was no parent-child relationship. He lost it. "What is this? If Felix ain't your kid, then whose is he?"
Ximena sneered, "How the hell should I know? Felix never looked like me, but he's always looked a lot like you, Connor. So, where's my real kid?"
By the time she finished, Ximena was practically hysterical.
Connor frowned harder and said coldly, "What are you implying? You think I cheated?"
"If you didn't, then prove it!" Ximena shot back.
Connor threw the report on the ground, fuming. "Don't push it! Which lab did you use? I'm gonna sue them!"
Ximena glared at him, her voice steady. "I still have your hair. I can find out if you and Felix have a parent-child relationship by getting a test done. So, are you gonna come clean now, or should I wait for the results and shove the proof in your face?"
The room went dead silent, and Ximena's heart sank deeper.
She snapped, throwing a pillow and some fruit at Connor, her eyes wild. "Connor, you liar! You've been fooling me for over twenty years! Where's my real son? What did you do with him?"
Thinking about all the years of lies, Ximena's heart filled with rage. She wanted to hurt Connor as much as she was hurting.
Connor took a deep breath and said slowly, "Ximena, listen to me. Let me explain."
Ximena wiped her tears. "Fine, let's hear your excuse!"
Connor sat down by the bed, head hanging low, avoiding her eyes. "When you gave birth, the baby was fine at first, but half an hour later, he went into cardiac arrest and died. You were still out cold. I planned to tell you after you woke up, but the next morning, Mom came in with a baby, saying it was Celeste's kid. Mom said Celeste had left the baby at the door and vanished. When I saw the baby, I thought, our kid's gone, but if I made Celeste's kid ours, you wouldn't have to be sad."
Ximena sneered, tears streaming down her face.
"Connor, did you think you were doing me a favor? You made me raise Celeste's kid as my own for over twenty years. How heartless can you be? Do you think knowing the truth now doesn't hurt me?" Thinking that her child had died over twenty years ago and she was only finding out now, Ximena felt utterly pitiful. "Get out! I don't want to see you!"
Seeing her so upset, Connor quickly said, "Ximena, the doctor said you need to rest. Don't get worked up. We'll talk about this after you recover."
Ximena found it laughable. "What's there to talk about? Get out! We'll get a divorce as soon as I'm outta here!"
She had loved Connor back then, so even knowing he had someone else in his heart, she had married him without hesitation. Now she realized that her sincere love was worthless!
"Ximena, we've been married for so many years and been through so much together. I won't divorce you!" Connor's determined expression only made Ximena feel more ridiculous.
Ximena said, "Whether you want to or not, I'm definitely getting a divorce. I won't give you another chance to hurt me!"
Connor replied, "You're too emotional right now. I won't argue with you. I'll come back to see you tomorrow."
"Get out!"
After Connor left, Ximena finally broke down, hugging the blanket and crying her heart out.
Thinking that her son had died at birth and Connor had used Celeste Clinton's son to deceive her, making her raise Celeste's son for over twenty years, Ximena's heart was filled with hatred.
After a while, Ximena finally cried herself to sleep.
A nurse who heard Ximena and Connor arguing immediately contacted Felix.
Felix rushed over and seeing Ximena asleep, he didn't disturb her. He just sat on the sofa beside her and looked at some documents.
When Ximena woke up and saw Felix in the ward, her expression changed, and she said coldly, "What are you doing here?"
Felix explained, "I heard from the nurse that you argued with Dad. You're not well right now and can't get upset. If you don't want to see him, I'll make sure he doesn't come while you're in the hospital."
Since finding out Felix wasn't her son, Ximena's attitude towards him had become much colder. "Leave. I don't want to see you either."
She needed to think things through, like divorcing Connor and how to deal with Felix in the future.
Felix frowned. "What did Dad do? This is the first time in so many years that you've been so angry with him."
Seeing the faint questioning in Felix's eyes, Ximena sneered, "What did he do wrong? Why don't you ask him? Don't come here anymore! You're not my son, and I don't want to see you again!"
Thinking she was just throwing a tantrum, Felix didn't press further and said in a low voice, "I have a meeting at the company later. I'll have a nurse come in to stay with you."
Ximena turned her head away, pretending not to see Felix.
Leaving the ward, Felix immediately called Connor. "Dad, why did you and Mom argue? Even if she's wrong, she's a patient now. You should be more understanding."
There was a moment of silence on the other end of the line before Connor said in a deep voice, "Come to Harmony Garden right now. Your grandmother and I have something to tell you!"
After hanging up, Connor said gravely, "Do we really have to tell Felix about his identity? The person at Thundertop probably doesn't know Felix is his son. After all, Celeste disappeared after leaving Felix, and we don't know if she's dead or alive."
Natalie replied, "He's going to find out sooner or later. Now that everyone at Thundertop knows the key is with the Clinton family, if we don't seek help, won't the Clinton family be killed by those people? Knowing Felix is his son, he'll protect Felix at least!"
Connor sighed, "I'm just afraid he won't acknowledge Felix. After all, he has a wife and children now. Felix might just be a burden to him."
