Chapter 120
"Why?"
Sensing the hidden anger beneath Felix's calm demeanor, Gianna pursed her lips.
"To be honest, I'm really grateful that you saved me; and I've had doubts and thoughts of getting back together with you."
"But every time I try to make up my mind to be with you again, the image of you with Bella pops into my mind."
"That time you saved me at Sunnydale Meadows, when the huge wave hit, you didn't hesitate to cut the rescue rope. That was the first time you firmly chose me, but I know it was only because Bella wasn't with you. If Bella was there, would you have chosen me so firmly? I think the answer should be no."
Felix's gaze turned cold as he stared into Gianna's eyes and said, "This is just your assumption. You're being unfair to me."
Gianna smiled bitterly, shook her head, and said, "I know, but I dare not gamble anymore. I've wagered three years of my life; and now that I've finally come out. I don't want to repeat the same mistakes."
"Gianna, have so little faith in me?!"
"It's not that I don't trust you; it's that I don't trust myself. Even if we force ourselves to be together now, I'll find it hard to trust you again; and we'll eventually part ways once more."
After her words, the compartment fell into silence.
After a while, Felix said, "I understand."
"Thank you. You saved me twice, consider it as me owing you two favors."
Felix was annoyed inside, not wanting to hear her attempts to draw boundaries between them.
"Enough. I don't want to hear it. Just go."
Felix was afraid that if he continued to stay in the same space as Gianna, his emotions would completely explode.
Gianna got out of the car in silence; just as she closed the door, the black Maybach started and drove away.
Watching the car disappear from her sight, Gianna felt a stab in her heart and her eyes stung a bit.
Gianna blinked, turned around, and walked away from Felix's car.
They were never meant for each other's worlds, and continuing to entangle would lead to no results.
Back at the Villa, seeing Jonah waiting at the entrance, Gianna's eyes flashed with surprise.
"Why are you here?"
Just as Gianna spoke, Jonah tightly embraced her.
Gianna felt a warm tear fall on her neck just as she was about to struggle.
Gianna was stunned for a moment.
'Jonah cried?' She was confused.
"Gianna, I'm sorry. I should have let you go first at that time."
Jonah couldn't imagine what he would become if Gianna really died because of him.
Jonah was in a daze the entire day yesterday until he heard the news of Gianna's safe return just now; he hurried to her doorstep to wait for her.
Hearing the guilt in Jonah's tone, Gianna didn't push him away after all; gently patting his back, pretending to be casual, she said, "I'm fine. No need to feel guilty."
"I won't let you get into this kind of danger again!"
'I wouldn't let myself fall into that kind of helplessness again!' He thought.
Jonah watched Felix cut the rope and jump into the water with his own eyes, feeling worse than when he was about to die himself.
"Okay, I got it. You let go of me first. You're about to strangle me."
Jonah quickly let go of her, his eyes full of guilt.
"I'm sorry."
Gianna shook her head. "It's okay. It's not early now. You should go back and rest early."
"Okay. You rest early too."
Jonah originally came tonight to tell Gianna his feelings; but seeing her tired look, Jonah decided to wait a little longer and find a more suitable time.
"Okay."
Gianna opened the door and walked into the Villa, the living room was pitch black. Laura hadn't come back from the event yet.
Gianna didn't bother turning on the lights, went straight upstairs, took a shower, and went to bed.
Since rejecting Felix, Gianna's life had returned to its previous calm state.
Although they were in the same city, they hadn't seen each other since that day.
There were many things that MY FASHION needed to deal with. At first, Gianna would occasionally daydream; but later, she got busy and rarely thought of Felix again.
Zoey resigned after returning from Sunnydale Meadows. Gianna asked Faith to find a new female secretary for her, but she hadn't found one that satisfied Gianna, so the matter was put on hold.
Half a month later, the design competition was officially held in Dawnridge.
On the day before the opening ceremony, Alexander Johnson, the organizer Johnson Group CEO, invited all the judges to his house to discuss the competition.
Gianna was delayed due to some personal matters and when she arrived, the other judges had already left.
Seeing Gianna, Alexander's eyes showed surprise.
"You're Elia?!"
Alexander knew Elia was from Dawnridge, but he never expected that Elia was the useless daughter Gianna who had been missing from the Redstone family for more than ten years!
'Wasn't it said that Gianna didn't even graduate from high school?!' He thought.
Gianna nodded, "Mr. Johnson, nice to meet you."
Alexander, who had seen a lot in his life, quickly hid his astonishment and smiled, "Miss Redstone, please take a seat."
He went over the steps he had discussed with the other judges and said to Gianna, "Miss Redstone, do you have anything else to add?"
Gianna shook her head. "Mr. Johnson, the plan you've come up with is already perfect. I have no other opinions. However, for this competition, judges shouldn't need to show themselves, right?"
"Yes. Even the submitted design drafts this time will only be marked with the contestant's number. No names will be shown; and the contestant numbers will be randomly drawn before the start of the competition to ensure fairness."
"Okay, then I have no further questions."
Alexander still couldn't believe that Gianna was Elia, so he asked, "Miss Redstone, do your family members know that you are Elia?"
"They don't know, so I hope Mr. Johnson can help me keep this matter confidential. I don't want this matter to leak out."
Lauren recently held a press conference to publicly sever ties with Gianna; and he also heard about it. 'If the Redstone family knew how outstanding Gianna is, would they regret it deeply?' He thought.
Alexander quickly said, "Miss Redstone, rest assured. I will definitely ensure that this matter is not disclosed to anyone else."
"Thank you, Mr. Johnson. If there's nothing else, I'll head back now."
"Alright, do you need me to have someone drive you?"
"No, I drove here myself."
As Gianna got up to leave and started her car, she happened to pass by the car of Emily Johnson, Alexander's daughter.
Back at home, Emily saw Alexander sitting in the living room, looking pensive, and couldn't help but ask, "Dad, who was that woman who just left our house?"
Alexander glanced at her and said, "Your idol, Elia."
"What?!"
Emily's eyes were filled with disbelief. "Elia is so young?! You're not kidding me, are you?!"
At that moment, Emily regretted not knowing it was Elia. She would have stopped her for an autograph!
Alexander looked at his daughter with irritation. "What benefit would I get from lying to you?! She's the same age as you, but now she's a judge, while you're just a contestant!"
Seeing how outstanding the other person's daughter was, Alexander felt extremely frustrated. If he had such a talented daughter, he would definitely show her off every day. He wondered what the Redstone family was thinking.
Emily glared at him. "What's wrong with being a contestant? Do you think this design competition has no threshold?! Elia is a once-in-a-century genius. To be as outstanding as her, I'd need divine intervention!"
