Chapter 373

After a few seconds of awkward silence, Grant's icy voice cut through, "I don't care about your problems. Whatever happens, it's got nothing to do with me."

His words made Jennifer shiver. She gripped her phone tightly and said, "Get to my house. Now."

After hanging up, Jennifer's eyes burned with malice and hatred. She thought, 'Even if Grant doesn't love me, I'll make sure he never forgets who bailed him out!'

An hour later, Grant's car pulled up in front of the Chambers Estate. As soon as he stepped out, the front door swung open.

Jennifer, looking pale and bundled up in thick pajamas, glared at Grant with cold eyes. "Grant, remember when we were seniors in college, and your mom needed surgery but you could only sell your blood for money? I gave you a million dollars to save her."

Jennifer had lent Grant that million bucks, and after he started working, he paid her back with interest by living frugally. But Jennifer was relentless, insisting that Grant marry her and driving away all the women around him, which made Grant despise her.

Grant looked at her blankly. "What new way have you thought of to torture me now?"

If he could turn back time, Grant would never have accepted that card from Jennifer. Because of that million dollars, Jennifer had used her favor to force the girl he liked to go abroad, and he couldn't protect her.

Jennifer sneered, looking at Grant with a mocking expression, "You must have hated me all these years, right? But no matter how much you hate me, it was me who saved your mom's life. Because of that, you'll never get rid of me in this lifetime."

Grant's expression stayed indifferent. "What exactly do you want to say? I have work tomorrow morning, and I don't want to waste time here with you."

Jennifer threatened, "Work? Do you believe that with one phone call, you would lose your job immediately?"

Grant's pupils contracted sharply, and his hand at his side clenched involuntarily. After a long while, he looked into Jennifer's eyes and slowly said, "Do as you please."

His indifferent attitude instantly ignited Jennifer's anger, and her expression turned cold. "Stand here all night and take me to work in the morning," she commanded.

Grant frowned. "Jennifer, I am not your slave."

"If you don't want your mom to end up in the hospital again, you'd better behave, or you will regret it." Her expression was twisted, like a madwoman at the end of her rope, her eyes filled with reckless madness.

Grant stared at her for a few seconds, then lowered his head and said nothing more.

Jennifer turned and walked directly into the villa. Her eyes, however, were not filled with the excitement of revenge against Grant, but with pain. She was torn between her hatred and her love for him, shouting about how much she despised him while secretly loving him.

As soon as she walked into the living room, Jennifer saw Eric sitting on the sofa, his expression terrifyingly grim. Sensing the tense atmosphere, her heart skipped a beat, and she said timidly, "Eric."

"Why did you call Grant here? Wasn't today embarrassing enough?" Eric's cold gaze bore into her.Jennifer bit her lower lip and lowered her head. "Don't worry. He won't say anything."

Eric sneered, "If you have any more negative news, I won't help you anymore!" With that, he got up and left directly.

Eric had always looked down on Grant because Grant was just a poor boy with nothing. Therefore, Eric couldn't understand why Jennifer would be interested in such a man.

Seeing Eric leave, Jennifer finally relaxed and returned to her room.

In the middle of the night, it suddenly started to rain heavily.

Jennifer was jolted awake by the thunder, got up, and walked to the window. She saw Grant still standing at the door, now drenched and swaying in the heavy rain.

She watched for a bit and then started laughing. At first, it was a silent chuckle, but then it grew louder and turned into a full-blown laugh.

Jennifer thought, 'Back in the day, seeing Grant suffer even a little would break my heart, but now I just feel satisfied. If he won't love me, I'll make him hate me. That works too. At least, he'll never forget me.' With that thought, she laughed even harder.

The next morning, Jennifer got ready and dressed for work. As soon as she got downstairs, she saw Preston and Eric in the dining room, frowning at her over breakfast.

Preston's eyes were full of disgust and impatience. "What are you all dolled up for so early? Wasn't last night enough to disgrace the Chambers family?"

Jennifer smiled coolly. "Dad, I'm going to work. Even if I stayed home all day, people would still talk behind our backs."

Preston sneered, "That would be better than you continuing to disgrace the family!"

"Don't worry. I'll personally restore the Chambers family's reputation!" Jennifer declared, turning on her heel and leaving the room.

Watching her go, Preston gritted his teeth. "Stop right there! If you step out of this house, don't call me Dad anymore!"

Jennifer turned and raised an eyebrow at him, smirking. "Dad, did you forget the company's annual presidential election is coming up? If I vote for Bethany, you might face a serious problem."

Preston's face stiffened, and before he could say anything, Jennifer had already walked out of the villa.

Realizing he had just been threatened by his own daughter, Preston slammed his fork on the table in anger. "She's really defying me!"

Eric lowered his eyes and said nothing. He couldn't help but feel that today's Jennifer was completely different from before. She seemed even crazier.

Jennifer walked out of the Chambers Estate and saw Grant still standing at the door, his face pale and bloodless. She smiled. "Grant, it's almost time for work. You should go home and change. If you go to work in wet clothes, you might catch a cold." Her tone was caring, but her eyes were full of vindictive satisfaction.

Grant glanced at her, said nothing, and turned to leave.

Jennifer wasn't angry. No one was worth her anger now. She would be laughing, watching those who wanted to see her fail fall flat on their faces one by one, while she remained the high and mighty daughter of the Chambers family!

Half an hour later, Jennifer stepped into the design department, and everyone looked at her like they had seen a ghost.

After all, they all thought that after what happened last night, Jennifer wouldn't show up at Luminary Ventures Group again. But here she was, acting like nothing had happened.

Jennifer smiled. "Why are you all staring at me? Don't you have work to do?"

Under her cold gaze, everyone quickly looked away and pretended to be busy.

Jennifer sneered and walked into her office. As her office door closed, whispers filled the design department.

"Did I see that right? Jennifer really came to work?"

"I thought I was seeing things too, but she's really here. It seems like last night's incident didn't affect her at all."

"That video might have been released by her on purpose. She's always so arrogant. Who knew she was such a player in private!"

As soon as the words were spoken, a voice full of mockery sounded behind them. "I am indeed quite the player. How about I take you along next time?"
