Chapter 409
The driver was about to start the car when Constance hurriedly said, "No, I don't want to go to the hospital."
Felix frowned. "Your foot is sprained. If you don't get it treated at the hospital, it might get worse."
"I can handle it myself. I don't like hospitals."
Seeing the reluctance in Constance's eyes, Felix was silent for a few seconds before saying, "We can skip the hospital, but I need to get a doctor to come to the house to check on you. If it's serious, we still need to go to the hospital."
Constance wanted to refuse, but Felix continued, "This is my bottom line. If you don't agree, we're going to the hospital now."
"Okay."
Back at the villa entrance, Constance intended to walk in by herself, but Felix unexpectedly carried her into the villa.
The doctor was already waiting in the living room. After examining Constance's ankle, he said, "Mr. Clinton, it's nothing serious. Just apply ice for a few days."
"Is there anything we need to be careful about? Any dietary restrictions?"
Seeing Felix meticulously note down everything the doctor said, Constance's heart couldn't help but race. He seemed genuinely worried about her.
After the doctor left, Felix wrapped a piece of ice in a towel and walked over to Constance, saying in a deep voice, "I'll apply the ice for you."
Constance pursed her lips and looked down. "I can do it myself. You should get back to your work."
Felix placed the towel on the table, rolled up his sleeves, and said, "Nothing is more important than you."
With that, he knelt in front of Constance, gently lifting her sprained foot.
Constance gasped and instinctively tried to pull her foot back, but Felix held her calf, preventing her from doing so.
"Really, I can do it myself," Constance said.
Thinking about him applying the ice for her made Constance's face turn red.
In her memory, she had never been this close to any man.
However, Felix ignored her and continued to remove her shoe.
Her foot, like her leg, was fair and delicate, smooth as jade, but her swollen ankle ruined the beauty.
Felix's eyes darkened, and he said softly, "It might hurt a bit at first. Bear with it."
"Okay."
He gently placed the towel on Constance's ankle. The cold sensation made Constance purse her lips. It didn't hurt much, but Felix's warm hand holding her foot sent waves of warmth through her, making her heart race uncontrollably.
She sneaked a glance at him. He was frowning at her ankle, his eyes cold, lost in thought.
"Mr. Clinton, applying ice isn't difficult. I can do it myself," Constance said.
If he kept staring at her foot, her heart might beat even faster.
Felix looked up at her and said softly, "Just call me Felix from now on."
Constance frowned. "But I'm not used to it."
"Then get used to it. You used to call me that."
Constance was silent for a while but eventually nodded, "Alright."
"Try calling me now."
"Felix."
Felix's lips curled into a smile.
For the rest of the time, Constance pretended to be engrossed in her phone, but her heart was in turmoil.
At first, she didn't like Felix, but now, for some reason, her eyes would unconsciously fall on him, and her heart would race at his intimate gestures.
Could she be falling for Felix?
The thought made Constance's already flushed face turn pale.
She bit her lip. Becoming her old self again was something she had always resisted.
If she lost her memory and fell for Felix again, becoming the Gianna from three years ago, everything would repeat itself.
She lowered her eyes, her gaze cold.
As she pondered how to make Felix leave, his phone suddenly rang.
After answering, Felix's face turned extremely grim, and he said coldly, "I'll be there soon."
Seeing his dark expression, Constance quickly said, "If you're busy, go ahead. I can handle the ice myself."
Felix didn't move, calmly putting away his phone, "No matter how busy I am, I can spare a moment."
After finishing the ice application and carrying Constance back to her room, Felix finally left.
Once alone in the bedroom, Constance immediately called Rebecca.
Constance hesitated for a moment before saying, "I think I might be falling for someone."
"Felix?"
"How did you know?"
Rebecca chuckled. "When you said you'd be spending three months with Felix, I had a hunch. But from your tone, you don't seem too happy about it."
"Yeah, I don't want to fall for him again or repeat the past."
Rebecca was silent for a few seconds before saying, "Constance, when did you become so hesitant? You were so carefree abroad."
Constance pursed her lips. The things she encountered abroad didn't matter to her, so she didn't dwell on them.
"I just don't want to get hurt again," Constance replied.
"How do you know you'll get hurt again? It's been three years. You've changed a lot, and so has he. Maybe if you try again, the outcome will be different."
Rebecca's words made Constance even more confused.
"Forget it. I'll think about it myself."
"Alright, but I think you shouldn't worry so much. Just follow your heart. Didn't you tell me that he explained what happened three years ago? What are you still worried about?"
"I understand. You get back to work."
After hanging up, Constance tossed her phone aside, feeling agitated.
Should she give herself and Felix another chance?
Meanwhile, when Felix arrived at the Clinton Group headquarters, many partners were causing a commotion about terminating their contracts, creating chaos.
Someone spotted Felix and quickly said, "Mr. Clinton is here!"
The room instantly fell silent, and everyone turned to look at Felix.
Felix's eyes were cold, and he said icily, "Why have you all suddenly decided to terminate your contracts? If you don't give me a reasonable explanation, I won't agree to it."
Several minutes passed in silence.
Although Thomas had assured them that they would work with Vertex Holdings Group, seeing Felix still made them nervous.
"I'm giving you one chance. If you don't speak up today, don't ever mention termination again!"
Finally, someone spoke up, "Mr. Clinton, we plan to work with Vertex Holdings Group. They offer better profits!"
