Chapter 214
An hour ago, Gianna was giving Natalie a massage when Garrett called.
Garrett informed. "Gianna, I'm in Willow Creek. It's been raining, and the road to the master's place collapsed. It'll take at least two more days to clear. By the time I get the medicine and return to Thundertop, it might be too late!"
Gianna frowned, paused, and said, "We need to take Natalie to Willow Creek."
Sending a message wouldn't be fast enough. The only option was to take Natalie to Herb Valley.
Garrett hesitated, then said, "Gianna, are you sure about this?"
Garrett didn't want Gianna to bring Natalie because he valued Gianna, his junior sister, more than the dying Natalie.
Gianna gave a bitter smile, and replied, "I have no other choice."
Garrett advised strongly, "Think it over. You're still young. I don't want you risking your life for someone else."
Gianna lowered her eyes as she deliberated, "We don't know the punishment. I might not die, but if I don't take Natalie to Herb Valley, she will."
Garrett sighed, knowing he couldn't change her mind, and said, "Alright, I'll wait for you in Willow Creek."
After hanging up, Gianna was about to call Felix when she noticed something wrong with Natalie.
Her face changed, and she immediately checked Natalie's condition.
Two minutes later, her expression turned grim.
Besides the poppy in the chicken soup, Thomas had given Natalie another rare chronic poison, causing her rapid decline.
This poison was highly concealed, and Gianna hadn't noticed it before.
Gianna wondered, 'The poison was only produced in Country D, controlled by mercenary alliances and the mafia. How did Thomas get it?'
Thinking of Thomas's sudden disappearance years ago, Gianna's eyes turned cold.
She sent a message to Garrett, asking him to investigate Thomas's whereabouts during those missing years.
After stabilizing Natalie's heart with acupuncture, Gianna prepared to leave with her. Just as she got up, a man in a black suit walked in with a food box.
The man said, "Gianna, I've brought you lunch."
As Gianna took the food box, the man pulled out a knife and attacked her.
She quickly retreated to avoid the attack.
The man sneered and advanced with the knife, and they started fighting in the ward.
The commotion drew another man in a black suit, who joined the attack on Gianna.
Gianna's expression turned icy, and her movements became faster and more ruthless.
Ten minutes later, Gianna tied up the two unconscious men with a bedsheet and threw them into the bathroom. Her phone was broken during the fight.
It seemed there were people loyal to Thomas among Felix's subordinates.
If she didn't move Natalie quickly, there would be more assassination attempts.
Gianna decided to tell Felix after securing Natalie's safety.
She found a wheelchair, put hats and masks on both Natalie and herself, and left the hospital through the back door.
Soon, Felix's subordinates sent over the surveillance footage of Gianna's leaving.
After watching the footage, Felix's face turned grim.
Felix wondered, "Why did Gianna suddenly take Natalie away, and why did she kill two of our guys?"
Felix's expression was icy, and ordered, "Find out. We need to know where she went!"
James nodded, then asked, "Felix, what should we do about the two bodyguards Gianna killed?"
Felix instructed, "Keep it quiet. Anyone who talks will be dealt with."
James replied, "Got it."
Meanwhile, Thomas heard that his men failed to kill Natalie again and cursed.
Thomas cursed, "Useless idiots! They can't even handle a woman and an old lady!"
His trembling subordinate said, "Those two won't affect your plans anymore."
Thomas sneered, "They better not. Have you tracked Garrett?"
The subordinate replied, "Yes, he's in Willow Creek. Our people will be there tonight."
Thomas warned, "This time, no mistakes!"
The subordinate informed, "Don't worry, we sent top-tier assassins. Garrett will be dead."
Thomas ordered, "Keep tracking Gianna and Natalie. Once you find them, kill them and bring back the bodies!"
Thomas left.
By evening, Gianna and Natalie arrived at Willow Creek Airport. Garrett met them at the entrance. Gianna sensed something was off.
She whispered to Garrett, "Someone's following you."
Garrett frowned, and asked, "What now?"
Gianna suggested, "Get in the car and wait for them to make a move."
They took Natalie to a hotel and settled her in. Gianna drew the curtains, leaving a small gap to observe outside.
A few minutes later, she turned to Garrett.
Gianna informed, "This place isn't safe. I saw a sniper in the building across the street."
Garrett's face turned pale. He had never dealt with this kind of situation.
Forcing himself to stay calm, he said, "I don't think I've offended anyone. Why would someone want to kill me?"
Gianna pressed her lips together, and revealed, "They're after me and Natalie. You got involved."
Garrett asked, "Who wants to harm Natalie?"
Gianna revealed, "Her eldest grandson, Thomas."
Garrett was silent, then said, "I know Thomas. We used to run into each other at gatherings when his parents were alive."
Gianna asked, "Did you know him well?"
Garrett shook his head, and mentioned, "He's older than me, so we weren't in the same circle. But after his parents died, I heard a rumor."
Gianna, intrigued, raised her eyebrows and asked, "What rumor?"
Garrett mentioned, "Someone said Felix's parents orchestrated the car accident to take over the Clinton Group from Jesse."
Gianna lowered her eyes in thought and said, "Thomas probably believes that too."
Garrett sighed, and remarked, "Only those involved know the truth. But after the rumor started, Natalie held a press conference saying it was just an accident. Shortly after, Thomas disappeared."
Gianna glanced at the unconscious Natalie. They'd only know the truth once she wakes up.
But would Connor really kill his own brother and sister-in-law for the Clinton Group?
That night, Gianna and Garrett stayed by Natalie's side.
Garrett joked, "Gianna, I'm risking my life here. When this is over, you should thank me. Just give me a Celestial Starflower from the ones you grew."
Gianna was about to say she gave the last one to Natalie before coming to Willow Creek when her face suddenly changed. She said in a low voice, "Take Natalie and hide in the bathroom. Lock the door and don't come out no matter what you hear!"
