Chapter 169: Injured on Set
After Bella left, Thomas's face turned cold.
On the way back, Gianna and Felix stayed quiet.
When the car stopped at the villa gate and Gianna was about to get out, Felix finally spoke, "I messed up that day. It won't happen again."
Gianna replied coldly, "Don't make promises you can't keep."
She paused, then added, "I'm giving us another chance to avoid the same mistakes. Think about how you'll handle things with Bella before talking to me."
With that, Gianna got out of the car.
In the following days, they barely saw each other, seemingly avoiding each other on purpose.
Gianna wasn't in a rush. She was waiting for Felix's answer.
On Friday after work, Gianna was about to leave the office when she got a call from Laura's agent.
"Gianna, Laura got hurt on set!"
When Gianna arrived at the hospital, Laura was arguing with her agent.
"Delilah, I told you it was just a minor injury. Why did you tell Gianna?!"
Gianna walked in and saw Laura's bandaged forehead and arm, with blood seeping through. She frowned, "You call this minor?!"
Laura sighed, "I didn't want to bother you."
Gianna sat by her bedside and said, "If I were hurt, would you want me to tell you or keep it from you?"
"Of course, I'd want you to tell me!"
Laura then realized what had just transpired and frowned, "You're playing tricks again!"
"Forget that. How did you get hurt?"
"It was an accident."
Delilah sneered, "Accident? That new starlet's terrible acting caused this. She couldn't remember her lines and got scolded by the director. She spread rumors about Laura hogging scenes and pushed her onto a fake mountain today!"
Gianna frowned at Laura, "You were going to keep this from me too?!"
Laura shot Delilah a cold glance and said, "I can handle it. I didn't want you to worry."
"If you could handle it, you wouldn't have been set up!"
Laura sighed, "I didn't expect her to use such a stupid method. Since I won my first Best Actress Award, I haven't dealt with someone like her."
The people around Laura now were those who, no matter how much they hated her, acted indifferent on the surface. She never expected someone to take personal revenge while acting.
"What are you going to do about this?" Gianna asked.
"I'll use her own methods against her. I'm not a saint," Laura answered.
Before Gianna arrived, Laura had already called the director and said if Jasmine wasn't replaced, she wouldn't continue filming.
Gianna nodded and was about to speak when there was a knock on the door.
A soft voice came from outside.
"Laura, it's Jasmine. I'm very sorry about what happened today. May I come in?"
With that, she walked in.
Laura's eyes flashed with displeasure, and she was about to ask Delilah to kick Jasmine out when Jasmine exclaimed, "Gianna, what are you doing here?!"
Gianna felt the world was small. First, Jasmine stole Faith's boyfriend, and now she hurt Laura. This woman was a menace!
A cold glint flashed in Gianna's eyes, "Does that have anything to do with you? And barging in without waiting for a response—Jasmine, your manners are impeccable!"
Jasmine's face turned red with anger. She almost wanted to slap Gianna. This woman was everywhere!
"Gianna, I'm here to apologize to Laura. I don't want to argue with you," Jasmine said.
Laura noticed the tension and said coldly, "Jasmine, I won't forgive you. You can leave now."
Jasmine had only come to put on a show. Seeing Gianna, she didn't bother to keep up the pretense.
"Suit yourself, but Laura, don't regret it!" she warned.
Laura sneered, "Do you think you're worth it?"
"Just wait and see!"
Jasmine stormed out, fuming. She shouldn't have listened to her agent and come to apologize.
Even if everyone knew she hurt Laura, so what? Her boyfriend was the biggest investor in this movie. If she pleased him, she could get Laura kicked out!
Thinking of this, Jasmine's face lit up with a smug smile as she quickly dialed a number.
"Honey, where are you now? I'm coming over!" she said.
After Jasmine left, Laura looked at Gianna, puzzled, "Do you have a grudge against Jasmine?"
Gianna nodded, "Yes, she once stole a friend's boyfriend."
Laura was surprised, "Doesn't she have a boyfriend?"
"That was before she entered the industry. If you keep acting with her, be careful. Bad people are hard to guard against."
Laura nodded, "I understand."
As they were talking, Gianna's phone rang. Seeing it was Felix, her eyes flickered, and she answered.
"Gianna, where are you now?"
"At the hospital."
"Are you feeling unwell? Which hospital? I'm coming over right now!"
Hearing the tension and concern in Felix's voice, Gianna lowered her eyes, "I'm fine, just visiting a friend."
"Send me the hospital's name. I'll come over right away."
Gianna frowned, "No need. If you need to talk to me, I'll be back soon."
"It's nothing urgent, just wanted to have dinner with you."
After a few seconds of silence, Gianna said slowly, "I've already eaten. If there's nothing else, let's leave it at that."
As soon as she hung up, she saw Laura looking at her with a teasing expression.
"Had a fight with Felix?" Laura asked.
Gianna shook her head, "Not really."
Seeing she didn't want to talk about it, Laura didn't ask further, "What do you want to eat? I'll have Delilah bring it back."
While they were chatting earlier, Delilah had gone out to get Laura's dinner.
"No need to bring anything. I'll be heading back soon. Take good care of your injury. If anything happens on set, call me anytime," Gianna said.
"Okay, I will."
An hour later, Gianna returned to the villa. Seeing Felix on the sofa, she paused, hesitated, then walked over to sit across from him.
"Don't you have work tonight?" she asked.
Felix nodded, his face showing no emotion.
"I've thought about what you said before," he said.
Gianna looked at Felix calmly, waiting for him to continue.
