Chapter 85
Thomas bid farewell to everyone and then left Harmony Garden.
Natalie glanced at Ximena, who had an unpleasant expression on her face, and said in a flat tone, "Alright, it's been a long night. I'm tired as well. You should all go back and rest."
"Okay."
Ximena originally wanted Felix and Gianna to stay so they could discuss their divorce openly, but now she didn't have the mood for it anymore and left Harmony Garden.
On the way back, Gianna sensed a constant low pressure emanating from Felix. She couldn't help but ask, "Mr. Clinton, you don't like your cousin, do you?"
Felix's cold gaze fell on her. "Do you like that type of person?"
"What?" Gianna was surprised. "Why are you asking me this?"
A touch of mockery flashed in Felix's eyes. "When he greeted you just now, your eyes were practically glued to him."
Gianna frowned. At that moment, she was merely wondering why she felt uncomfortable being close to Thomas.
But after Felix's words, she suddenly realized the reason behind her discomfort.
She sensed danger from Thomas.
Despite his efforts to conceal it, there was still a faint air of danger surrounding him.
He was definitely not ordinary.
Seeing Gianna's silence, Felix's eyes grew colder. "Gianna, I warn you, you are not compatible with him. It's best not to provoke him!"
Gianna frowned and spoke with displeasure, "Why did you see me intending to provoke him?"
"I saw everything."
“You are truly inexplicable!”
She turned her head, ignoring Felix, but pondering whether or not to investigate Thomas.
However, Gianna quickly dismissed the idea.
After divorcing Felix, she had no connection with the Clinton family, even if Thomas was dangerous, it seemed unlikely that he posed a threat to her.
Realizing this, the heavy burden on Gianna's heart instantly disappeared without a trace.
On the other side, Ximena returned to the Clinton family family's ancestral home and immediately called Connor.
"Connor, Thomas is back!"
In less than half an hour, Connor returned to the ancestral home.
"What exactly is going on?"
When he received Ximena's call, he was on his way to Harmony Garden, but immediately turned the car around.
"It was when Grandma was about to cut the cake, he suddenly appeared. This time he's back, could it be to compete with Felix for the inheritance rights of the Clinton Group?"
If it weren't for the fatal accident of Jesse Clinton and Maria Diaz, as well as Thomas suddenly disappearing without a trace, Felix may not have become the CEO of the Clinton Group today.
Connor's expression also became solemn, shaking his head. "I don't know, let's wait and see. Felix has been in charge of the Clinton Group all these years. If Thomas wants a portion of the shares, that's possible. But taking the Clinton Group away from Felix won't be so easy."
Ximena frowned, feeling irritated. "Why did he come back after leaving?"
If possible, she hoped Thomas would never come back.
Connor looked at her with a cold expression and coldly said, "Thomas is still my nephew, and his parents have passed away. In the future, I will treat him as my own son. Don't let me hear you say such things again, or don't blame me for getting angry!"
Ximena's face turned pale from the coldness of Connor's words, and she stuttered, "I understand."
"There are still matters at the company that I need to handle. I won't be coming back tonight!"
Watching Connor's departing figure, Ximena felt a mixture of grievance and anger in her eyes, but also helpless. Her relationship with Connor was originally a business alliance, and she had always known that he didn't love her.
Over the next month, Garrett came to give Felix acupuncture every day, and his leg slowly began to recover.
That night, after the acupuncture session ended, Garrett asked Felix to try standing up and walking.
With Gianna's hopeful gaze upon him, Felix slowly stood up and took a few steps forward. His legs were filled with intense pain, causing sweat to bead on his forehead, but he remained silent and walked around the room for ten minutes before returning to his wheelchair.
Garrett nodded and spoke, "Felix, from now on, you just need to do rehabilitation exercises every day, and in another month or so, you'll be able to stand up."
There was no change in Felix's expression, making it impossible to tell if he was happy about his leg improving.
"Thank you, doctor. How much do I owe you for these sessions? I'll have my secretary transfer the money to your account."
Garrett didn't hesitate since he knew he had money to collect, "Just give me one million dollars. I'll give the account number to Miss Redstone later."
"Alright."
After Garrett left, Gianna looked at Felix and asked, "Mr. Clinton, your leg is getting better. Aren't you happy?"
"Happy."
Gianna pursed her lips, unable to see any happiness in his expression.
"I'll go draw a bath for you."
Seeing Felix's silence, Gianna walked into the bathroom to start filling the bathtub with water.
As she watched the water rise slowly in the tub, Gianna's mind wandered.
‘Once Felix's legs fully recover, they will get a divorce, won't they?’
Thinking this, Gianna couldn't help feeling a strange sensation in her heart.
Probably because she had been spending so much time with Felix lately, so if they suddenly separate, it would take some getting used to.
Lost in her thoughts, Felix's voice came from the doorway of the bathroom.
"Gianna, grandmother fainted and is in the hospital!"
Gianna's heart tightened at his words, and she quickly turned off the water and hurried out of the bathroom.
"What happened?"
Felix's expression was serious as he coldly replied, "I don't know yet, but we should go to the hospital first."
When the two arrived at the hospital, Ximena, Connor, and Thomas were already there.
After exchanging greetings, Felix furrowed his brow and asked, "How is grandmother now?"
Connor's face darkened, "The doctor is still examining her. We have to wait for the results."
"How did grandmother suddenly faint?"
Ximena and Connor remained silent, while Thomas spoke up, "Today, a package arrived at Harmony Garden. I was there having dinner with my grandmother when she heard that it was a package for her. She instructed the housekeeper to open it, and to our horror, it contained a dead baby."
Felix and Gianna's faces turned pale. Who would send Natalie such a horrifying thing?!
"Has the sender been identified?" asked Gianna.
Thomas shook his head. "After we rushed my grandmother to the hospital, I had the housekeeper check the surveillance footage. However, the person disappeared from the cameras after leaving Harmony Garden. There was a blind spot on the road where we couldn't track them down."
Felix's expression turned cold as he immediately made a phone call. "Find out who delivered the package to Harmony Garden today! No matter what, we must find them!"
No one else spoke as they silently waited for Natalie to wake up.
Soon after, the doctor came out. "Natalie's fainting spell was caused by sudden shock. There's nothing major to worry about. She'll wake up shortly."
Connor forced a smile. "Thank you for your efforts."
"If there's anything you need, feel free to visit my office," the doctor replied.
After the doctor left, Ximena turned to Felix. "Felix, you and Gianna have to go to work early tomorrow. You should go back, and I'll message you once your grandmother wakes up."
With determination, Felix replied, "No need, I'll wait here for my grandmother to wake up."
Thomas also refused to leave.
Ximena didn't say anything more, and the group sat silently in the hospital room, with none of them speaking up.
Suddenly, Gianna stood up. "I need to use the bathroom."
As she left the hospital room, Gianna headed straight towards the stairwell and sent a message on her phone.
She turned off the screen of her phone, making it difficult to discern her expression in the darkness.
The door to the stairwell suddenly swung open, causing Gianna to be on high alert. She coldly demanded, "Who's there?!"
The person turned on their phone's flashlight, and upon seeing Gianna, their eyes flickered with surprise.
"Younger sister, what are you doing here?" the person said.
It was Thomas, with a cigarette in his mouth. His eyes were narrowed, giving him a somewhat dangerous aura under the dim lighting, which was in stark contrast to his usual gentle demeanor.
He removed the cigarette from his mouth, and his face quickly regained its previous polite appearance.
That sense of danger swept over Gianna once again, and a coldness flashed in her eyes.
She pressed her lips together and casually made up an excuse, "I wanted some time alone. I'll go back first."
Thomas didn't stop her and stepped aside to let her leave.
As Thomas passed by her, he chuckled, "Little sister, it's best for you to come back later."
Gianna paused her steps for a moment, without asking him what he meant, and left directly.
It wasn't until she returned to the hospital room that she felt the gaze behind her disappear.
Upon hearing Ximena trying to persuade Felix to divorce her, Gianna finally understood the meaning behind Thomas' words.
Seeing Gianna, Ximena showed no guilt in her eyes and coldly said, "Now that you're back, I'll say it straight - when do you plan to divorce Felix?!"
