Chapter 269
"Gianna, you don't love me anymore, do you?"
His voice was all low and shaky, like he was scared of the answer.
Gianna bit her lip, turned to him, and said slowly, "It's not that. Work's just been crazy these past six months, so I might've ignored you a bit."
"Really?" Felix stared at her, trying to read her like a book.
"Yeah, you must be wiped from your trip. Go get some rest."
"Okay."
Felix let her go, turned to leave, and then his phone buzzed.
Seeing it was Bella, his eyes went cold, and he hung up right away.
Gianna looked down and headed upstairs.
Back in the bedroom, she flopped onto the bed. She wanted to sleep but couldn't.
Her mind kept replaying Felix's question about her love, making her feel all kinds of annoyed.
She knew she hadn't fallen for anyone else, but she wasn't sure what she felt for Felix anymore.
Bella had been a thorn in their side for the past six months, and she was over it.
Whenever they went out to eat, Bella would call Felix, claiming she had a stomachache, though Felix usually sent James to check on her.
When they visited Harmony Garden to see Natalie, Bella would show up with a bunch of gifts.
Even though she said the baby wasn't related to the Clinton family, Natalie couldn't just ignore it.
Whenever they planned a trip, Bella would have Ximena come up with some excuse to stop them.
It was the Clinton family that owed Bella, but it was messing up her relationship with Felix.
She couldn't say the Clinton family or Felix did anything wrong, but Bella's antics made her uncomfortable.
Bella's actions reminded her that Bella had already wormed her way into their lives and would keep taking up more space.
Thinking about this, Gianna buried her head in the pillow, not wanting to think anymore.
Downstairs, Bella's calls kept coming, and Felix finally picked up.
"What is it?" His voice was cold and annoyed.
If it weren't for the Clinton family owing Bella, he wouldn't even talk to her.
"Felix, I was in a car accident," Bella said.
Felix frowned and said coldly, "Call the cops, not me!"
"I only trust you. My stomach hurts, will the baby be okay?"
Bella's voice was full of panic and fear, like she was really scared.
Felix was silent for a few seconds, then stood up and said, "Where are you? I'll be right there!"
He planned to use this chance to tell Bella he was done with her.
Felix got to the accident scene just as the ambulance did and took Bella to the hospital for a check-up. It was already past 2 p.m.
The doctor handed Felix the report, "Mr. Clinton, Miss Redstone isn't hurt, just scared. The baby is fine."
Felix nodded coldly, "Got it."
After the doctor left, he walked into the ward, put the report on the table, and looked down at Bella, saying, "This is the last time I'm dealing with your stuff. From now on, call James if you need anything."
Bella's smile froze, her eyes wide with disbelief.
"Felix, you promised to take care of me until I gave birth. Did you forget?" Bella asked, her voice shaky.
Felix's gaze was ice-cold. "Yeah, I promised, but I regret it now."
Bella had made him promise that if he took care of her until she gave birth, the Clinton family would be off the hook. Felix had agreed, but it had only driven a wedge between him and Gianna. He now realized he had made a dumb move.
Bella bit her lip, tears welling up in her eyes.
"Is it because of Gianna?" Bella cried.
"Yeah," Felix said, not even hesitating.
Seeing him admit it so easily, tears finally spilled from her eyes, and she looked at him, feeling wronged.
"Is she that insecure? Is she scared you'll fall for me again? So she won't let you take care of me?"
Felix looked at her, unbothered. "You're overthinking it. She doesn't mind me taking care of you. I just don't want to hurt her anymore."
"Hurt her? What about me? I loved you first. If it weren't for what happened, the baby in my belly would be yours!"
"Bella!" Felix's eyes flashed with impatience, his gaze cold as ice. "The past is the past. I don't want to bring it up again. Move on. We're never gonna happen!"
Bella gripped the blanket tightly, saying each word slowly, "We're never gonna happen, so I never thought of being with you. I just hope you can take care of me until I have the baby. Is that so wrong?"
"I'll repay the Clinton family's debt to you in another way. Don't call me again!"
With that, Felix turned and left.
Watching his back, Bella's hurt expression gradually turned into a cold smile.
It seemed her efforts over the past six months had paid off. Felix and Gianna's relationship was already strained. When the time is right, she could tell Gianna the truth!
Felix had just reached the corner of the corridor when he was suddenly punched by someone.
The hit was so strong that he stumbled back, his cheekbone throbbing with pain.
He looked up and met an angry gaze.
"Felix, I kept that secret so Gianna could be happy with you. And now you're here taking care of a pregnant Bella? What do you take Gianna for?" Jonah asked.
Seeing Jonah in a hospital gown, Felix was momentarily stunned, his mind racing but unable to grasp anything.
"This is my private matter, none of your business," Felix replied.
Jonah sneered, "If it weren't for Gianna, do you think I'd care about your crap?!"
Felix's face darkened. "Gianna is my girlfriend. I'll explain everything to her."
"Does she know you're here taking care of another woman at midnight?" Jonah asked.
"I said, it's none of your concern!" Felix shouted.
Jonah's eyes filled with even more anger, and he swung his fist at Felix again.
This time, Felix caught his hand, coldly saying, "Jonah, because you saved Gianna once, I'll let this slide. But if it happens again..."
Before he could finish, Jonah impatiently interrupted.
"What if it happens again? You gonna ruin me or bankrupt the Getty family?"
Seeing Jonah's defiant look, Felix's gaze grew colder.
"Jonah, if you know what's good for you, stay away from me and Gianna!"
