Chapter 292

Gianna pressed her lips together and said, "We broke up."

Jonah's face shifted, "Whoa, sorry, I had no idea."

Then, a thought hit him, and he looked at Gianna, "Wait, is this 'cause of me?"

Gianna was quiet for a sec, then shook her head, "Don't sweat it. It's got nothing to do with you."

Faith, who'd been eavesdropping, was totally lost and blurted out, "What are you guys even talking about? I'm so confused."

"Nothing important," Gianna replied.

Gianna didn't want to dwell on it and switched topics with Jonah.

They hung out in the hospital room for about half an hour before heading out. As soon as they hit the hospital entrance, they spotted Felix by Faith's car, clearly waiting.

Faith tugged on Gianna's sleeve and whispered, "Gianna, Mr. Clinton's here. Should I bounce?"

"No need, I'll just have a quick word with him," Gianna said.

"Cool, I'll be in the car," Faith replied.

Gianna walked up to Felix, her face blank, and said, "Mr. Clinton, you're seriously bugging me. I hope you won't show up in front of me again."

Felix looked hurt, "Gianna, I'm sorry. Can you give me one more chance?"

Gianna's hand clenched at her side. She looked up at Felix and said slowly, "Felix, how many times have I forgiven you? Every time I thought it was the last, and what happened?"

Felix pleaded, "Gianna, I swear I won't lie to you again."

Gianna replied, "No need, I don't believe your promises anymore, nor do I need them."

With that, Gianna opened the car door and got in.

Gianna said, "Faith, let's roll."

Faith started the car, and once they were in traffic, she glanced at Gianna and whispered, "What did he do to make you so set on breaking up?"

Gianna shook her head, "I don't wanna talk about it."

"Alright, I won't push. I'll take you home," Faith replied.

For the next two weeks, Felix stayed out of Gianna's sight.

Gianna went to the hospital almost every day to check on Jonah's recovery. As time went on, their chats got longer.

Finally, the day before Jonah was discharged, he couldn't hold back and confessed to Gianna.

Jonah said earnestly, "Gianna, I'm not trying to take advantage of the situation. I just want you to know how I feel. If you ever decide to start a new relationship, I hope you'll think of me first."

Facing Jonah's sincere and serious expression, Gianna pressed her lips together. After a while, she slowly said, "Jonah, you don't have to wait for me. I'm not planning on dating anyone right now."

Jonah added, "I know you really liked Felix, so I'm willing to wait."

Gianna shook her head, "I broke up with him, but that doesn't mean I'll fall for someone else."

She'd been tangled up with Felix for so many years. Whether it was love or hate, it seemed all used up on him. It'd be hard for her to love someone else again, and she didn't want to start another relationship.

Jonah said, "Life's long, and there are lots of possibilities."

Seeing the determination in his eyes, Gianna frowned and decided to lay it out, "You saved me, and I'm really grateful. But besides gratitude, there's nothing else. The reason I've been visiting you every day is 'cause you got hurt saving me. If that made you misunderstand, I'm really sorry."

Jonah's eyes were full of disappointment, "You won't even give me a chance to wait for you?"

Gianna sighed, "Look, I'm sure I won't fall for you, so don't waste your time on me."

Jonah shot back, "To me, it's not a waste."

Gianna had said all she could. If he was gonna be stubborn, there was nothing more to say, "You're outta here tomorrow. I won't be visiting you at home. If you feel crappy, hit me up."

With that, she turned and left.

As soon as she got home, her phone rang. It was James.

Gianna ignored the first two calls, but on the third, she finally picked up, "Gianna, Mr. Clinton's hurt bad. He's out cold. Can you come over?"

Gianna frowned, keeping her cool, "If he's hurt, take him to the hospital."

James sounded desperate, "He can't go to the hospital. If folks in Dawnridge find out Mr. Clinton's hurt, it'll tank the Clinton Group's stock."

Gianna said, "Then get a family doc."

James replied, "Mr. Clinton won't let the family doc near him. If this keeps up, he's gonna die!"

Gianna paused, her voice turning icy, "Didn't you say he's unconscious? How can he refuse the doc?"

James explained, "Before he passed out, he locked himself in the bathroom. It's been over half an hour, and he hasn't answered my calls. The doc says he must've fainted from blood loss!"

Gianna said, "If he's out cold, break down the door and save him. Why call me?"

She hung up, tossed her phone on the couch, and took a deep breath, telling herself to forget it.

They were done. Whether Felix lived or died was none of her business.

Meanwhile, James looked at the blood-covered Felix and said cautiously, "Mr. Clinton, Gianna's not coming."

As soon as he said it, the air around Felix turned icy. With all the blood, he looked like he'd crawled out of hell, terrifying.

James asked, "Mr. Clinton, should we let Dr. Long bandage you?"

Felix snapped, "Get out!"

James was scared but still worried, "Mr. Clinton."

Felix's voice was cold, "Don't make me say it again!"

With no choice, James left Felix's room.

James said, "Dr. Long, Mr. Clinton still won't let you bandage him."

Austin Long's face was grim, "He's being ridiculous. If we don't bandage him, he'll bleed out!"

James frowned, thought for a moment, and then said quietly, "I'll call Mrs. Natalie Clinton."

Besides Gianna, Felix listened to Natalie the most. If she came, she might convince him to get bandaged.

In the bedroom, Felix found a towel to press against his wound, his face dark and terrifying.

He hadn't expected her to be so heartless this time, not even willing to come when she heard he was unconscious.

Gradually, Felix's consciousness grew fuzzy, and he blacked out.

When he woke up, he saw Natalie sitting by the bed. His wounds were bandaged, and he immediately understood what had happened.

Enduring the pain, he sat up and said quietly, "Grandma, you should go home. I'm fine. Just need a few days of rest."

Natalie's eyes were red, "Felix, maybe I should give the key to the Thundertop people. I don't want you living this dangerous life. As long as our family's safe, I'm happy."

Hearing this, Felix's eyes turned colder, "Grandma, do you really think that if we give them the key, they'll leave the Clinton family alone?"
