Chapter 394
Grant's expression turned cold as well. "Mr. Redstone, if you can't give me a convincing reason, I won't fire Constance."
Julian said, "She has a bad character. Such a person doesn't deserve to be a designer!"
As soon as he finished speaking, Constance sneered, "Do you have the right to judge whether I deserve to be a designer?"
Julian gritted his teeth. "Why wouldn't I have the right? Don't forget, I'm your father!"
Grant frowned and thought, 'If I remember correctly, isn't Constance's father Timothy, the president of the Drake Group? How could it be Julian?'
Constance's expression was icy. "Do you even deserve to be called a father?"
She had never seen a father who would have his own daughter fired from the company or say that his daughter didn't deserve to be a designer!
"You're too arrogant!" Julian shouted.
Constance didn't look at him again. She turned to Grant and said, "Grant, I don't want to take on this project. Please assign it to someone else."
After saying that, Constance turned and left directly.
Julian's angry voice came from behind. "You brat, stop right there!"
She ignored him and directly opened the office door and left.
Julian was so angry that he gritted his teeth and said, "Grant, I wasn't joking earlier. If you don't fire her, our cooperation can't continue."
Grant also saw that the relationship between the two was not good and said calmly, "Ms. Redstone, I can't fire a designer from Luminary Ventures Group just because you don't like her. If you're someone who likes to bring personal feelings into work, I think we indeed have no need to continue our cooperation."
Julian squinted his eyes and said coldly, "Are you sure you want to offend the Redstone Group for a mere designer?"
Grant raised an eyebrow. From Julian's reaction, it seemed he didn't know that Constance was now the daughter of the Drake family.
Grant reminded, "Mr. Redstone, Constance's last name is Drake, and yours is Redstone. You should know what the last name of the leading family among the four major families in Thundertop is, right?"
Julian's face darkened, and he said in disbelief, "Are you saying she's now connected to the Drake family?"
The Drake family was someone Teresa couldn't even dream of associating with. How could Gianna be connected to such a family?
Grant smiled. "Mr. Redstone, you keep saying Constance is your daughter, but it seems you don't really know her. I suggest you investigate. Compared to offending the Redstone Group, I think Luminary Ventures Group would be more reluctant to offend the Drake family."
Julian left Luminary Ventures Group in a daze. After returning to the villa, he immediately asked his secretary, Andrew Bryant, to investigate Gianna's relationship with the Drake family.
In less than an hour, Andrew came to the villa with a serious expression and a file.
Andrew said, "Mr. Redstone, the Drake family has only one daughter, named Constance. She went abroad to study three years ago and just returned recently."
Julian took the file and opened it. Seeing Constance's photo and information, he angrily threw the file on the table. "No wonder she was so arrogant when she saw me at Luminary Ventures Group today. Turns out she's become the adopted daughter of the Drake family!"
Andrew frowned and said in a low voice, "Mr. Redstone, what should we do now?"
Julian said, "You don't need to worry about this anymore. First, go and connect with the Thundertop partners."
"Understood."
After Andrew left, Julian sat in his chair and thought for a long time, finally making a decision in his mind.
The Redstone Group had just entered Thundertop, and they didn't know the Drake family's attitude towards Constance. If they rashly dealt with Constance, it could affect the Redstone Group.
The most important thing now was to stabilize the Redstone Group in Thundertop. As for dealing with Constance, that could wait until the Redstone Group was firmly established in Thundertop.
While deep in thought, a sudden scream came from the living room.
Julian's face changed, and he quickly got up and walked out of the study. Seeing Lauren lying on the ground with her stomach bleeding, panic flashed across his face, and he shouted at the maid who was already scared stiff, "Hurry up and call an ambulance!"
The maid snapped out of it and quickly made the call.
Half an hour later, the ambulance arrived and took the pale, nearly unconscious Lauren to the hospital.
Fortunately, the baby was barely saved, but Lauren's body became even weaker than before.
"Mr. Redstone, Mrs. Redstone is already a high-risk pregnancy. This fall almost caused a miscarriage. You must be very careful from now on. If she falls again, the baby won't survive," the doctor said.
Julian's face turned grim as he nodded. "I understand. Thank you."
Back in the hospital room, he saw Lauren's pale face, clearly still shaken from the scare.
Julian walked to the bedside and sat down, saying in a deep voice, "The doctor said if you fall again, the baby won't survive. You need to stay in bed and rest until the baby is born."
Lauren, still terrified, nodded repeatedly. "I understand."
Julian said, "I have to go back to the company. I'll have the nanny come to stay with you later."
Julian walked out of the hospital room, burdened with worries. The company already had many issues, and now Lauren's near-miscarriage added to his troubles. Ever since coming to Thundertop, nothing good had happened.
"Dad! What are you doing here?" Bella shouted.
Julian's face changed, and he turned to see Bella walking quickly towards him, her eyes filled with surprise and disbelief.
He frowned and said coldly, "Bella, what are you doing at the hospital?"
She couldn't have found out about Lauren's pregnancy, could she?
Bella replied, "Delilah has a fever and has been hospitalized for the past two days. I was planning to buy some daily necessities while she sleeps. Dad, you haven't told me why you're at the hospital."
Julian's icy expression softened as he lied, "A client is sick, and I came to visit."
Bella lowered her head, a hint of mockery flashing in her eyes. "Delilah was just saying she missed you a few days ago. Do you want to visit her?"
Julian replied, "Not today. I have to go back and handle company matters. I'll come by in a few days when I'm free."
Bella's hand at her side slowly clenched, and she suddenly said, "Dad, I've been chasing after Felix for the past few years and haven't helped you with the company's affairs. I feel quite guilty. Since the company will eventually be handed over to me, why don't I start getting familiar with the business now?"
"No!" Julian refused coldly, then realized his reaction was too harsh and quickly explained, "Bella, Delilah is still young and needs you. Besides, your situation with Felix isn't settled yet. Let's hold off on you joining the company."
When Bella was pregnant, Natalie had promised her 10% of the Clinton Group's shares once the baby was born. Julian had hoped to use those shares to get into the Clinton Group.
But after the baby was born, Bella confessed that the 10% had nothing to do with her. Natalie had deposited it in a bank, and Delilah wouldn't get the money until she turned 18.
Julian was furious at the time but had to accept reality. Since then, he had been cold towards Bella and Delilah.
Bella knew Julian had issues with her, so she facilitated several collaborations between the Clinton Group and the Redstone Group, hoping to change his attitude.
Initially, Julian's attitude did change, but those projects either failed or lost a lot of money. Julian realized Felix had no intention of collaborating with the Redstone Group and was just using the opportunity to get back at Gianna. He stopped mentioning collaborations with the Clinton Group.
Now that he had a son, he was even less likely to hand over the Redstone Group to Bella.
Bella smiled and looked up at Julian. "Alright, Dad, I'll do as you say."
Julian said, "Good. Take good care of Delilah."
"I will."
After Julian left, Bella's smile gradually turned icy.
She took out her phone and dialed a number, saying coldly, "Didn't you say you wanted to help me get revenge? Come to the villa at five tonight to pick up me and Delilah!"
