Chapter 315
Dominic spun around, eyes wide, staring at Gianna. "Wait, you know him?"
Gianna shook her head. "Nah, just heard about him."
Dominic felt a bit off. 'Why's she asking about some dude she only heard of?' But he let it slide. Maybe she was thinking about teaming up with the Drake family or something.
After freshening up, Gianna said her goodbyes to Faith and Dominic.
Back in Elm Bay, she spotted Felix's car chilling in front of the villa.
Gianna frowned. As she walked by, Felix popped out of the car, blocking her way.
"Gianna, I'm down for the divorce," Felix said straight up.
For some reason, her chest tightened.
"Seriously?"
The doubt in her eyes made Felix's gaze darken, a hint of sadness creeping in.
"Yeah, for real. I'm divorcing you, then I'm gonna win you back," Felix said, dead serious.
Gianna pressed her lips together, locking eyes with him. "After the divorce, you won't get another shot with me."
Felix's eyes were full of hurt. "You hate me that much?"
Gianna stayed silent, but her silence spoke volumes.
"If you're free now, we can get this divorce done right away," Felix said.
His bluntness threw Gianna off, a flicker of doubt in her eyes.
"You're not gonna pull some fake divorce certificate stunt again, are you?" she asked.
"I won't lie to you anymore," he said, his eyes serious.
Gianna frowned, looking away. "Give me ten minutes, I'll grab my driver's license."
Their marriage certificate was with Felix, so she just needed her license.
Thanks to Felix having James set everything up, the divorce was quick. In less than half an hour, they walked out with their divorce papers.
Staring at the certificate, Gianna still couldn't believe it. 'Felix was dead set against divorcing me before, so what's with the sudden 180?'
Seeing her stare at the papers, Felix felt a pang of pain.
"I'll drive you back," Felix offered.
His voice snapped Gianna back to reality. She turned to him, cold as ice. "No need. We're done. Don't bother me again."
With that, she hailed a cab and took off.
Back at Elm Bay, her phone buzzed. It was Faith. "Gianna, you gotta check the trending news! Jonah's fans are tearing you apart online!"
Gianna frowned, clicking on the webpage to see several trending topics.
#Jonah and a CEO fighting over a woman#
#The Clinton Group CEO's wife and actor Jonah's scandal#
#Jonah wrecking a marriage#
#Gianna playing two guys at once#
She clicked on one, and the comments were brutal.
[I've never seen such a shameless woman. She's always trending. Is she trying to use Jonah to get into showbiz?]
[Jonah would never go for this schemer. Those pics gotta be fake!]
[She started a clothing company? Let's boycott it and bankrupt her so she disappears!]
[I don't get it. Are Felix and Jonah blind? One's a CEO, the other's a celeb, and they're both into this drama queen!]
[You don't get it. Maybe they're just looking for some thrill. Jonah's been scandal-free for years. Maybe he's into messing with married women.]
Seeing those nasty comments, Gianna frowned and was about to hit up Owen to take down the page when Jonah suddenly dropped a bombshell update.
Jonah: [Thanks for the concern, but Gianna and I are just friends. No drama here, folks. She's not in the biz, so let's not mess with her life. This is my last word on it, no more responses. Also, I'm heading home to take over the family business, so I'm retiring from the entertainment industry starting today. Thanks for all the love and support over the years, especially from my fans. You guys rock! Goodbye!]
As soon as this Facebook post hit, it blew up, even crashing Facebook for a few hours.
But just like that, all the trending news about Gianna vanished, and even searches came up empty.
Seeing this, people started speculating that Jonah got booted from the industry because he ticked off Felix.
As the rumors got crazier, Jonah's studio had to drop another Facebook update, saying Jonah was really going home to take over the family biz and wasn't forced out. They also hinted that if a killer script came along, he might still take a role.
The comments were full of fans bummed out about Jonah leaving.
[I'm gonna miss Jonah. I've only watched his stuff for years. What am I gonna do now?]
[Actors these days suck. Jonah's shows were the only good ones. Such a bummer.]
[I don't buy it! Jonah once said his family was dirt poor. How's he got a family business to take over? Felix must've forced him out! I'm boycotting all Clinton Group products!]
[Maybe he just said that to get sympathy. Believing that would be dumb.]
While the internet was going nuts, Jonah stood calmly by the window of his villa, sipping coffee and looking out with a chill vibe.
Seeing Jonah so calm, Kyle couldn't help but say, "Haven't you seen what people are saying? I think quitting the industry is too risky."
Jonah turned to Kyle and said in a low voice, "Once I go back to the Getty family, I'll have to run the company. No time for acting. Better to leave now than keep fans hanging. It's better for everyone."
Kyle sighed, "You love acting so much. Why do you have to go back and take over the Getty Group?"
Jonah lowered his gaze and said slowly, "Because if I don't, Daniel's wife and daughter won't leave me alone. You've seen their moves lately. If I stay in the industry, my path will just get tougher."
Daniel's wife and daughter had tried to wreck Jonah's career. Only by going back to the Getty family could he protect those he cared about and get strong enough to protect the woman he loved.
Kyle's eyes flashed with anger, and he gritted his teeth. "You're Daniel's son. He knows what his wife and daughter have done to you but still looks the other way. How can he be fit to be your father?"
Jonah let out a cold laugh, his eyes icy. "He never needed a son, just an heir."
