Chapter 46
<Chapter>Chapter 46: There is no danger </Chapter>
Gianna looked at him with a mocking smile, "I'm just going to teach her a lesson, that's all."
As Gianna turned to leave, Felix caught her hand, "Bella is fragile. If you harm her, Mr. and Mrs. Pool will never forgive you."
"You're already worried about her before I've done anything?"
Felix furrowed his brow, "Gianna, must you always twist my words?"
He was clearly afraid that Julian and Lauren would do something to her, yet in her eyes, it was interpreted as concern for Bella.
Gianna offered a wry smile, "You know full well if it's a misunderstanding or the truth."
She pulled away from his grasp and turned to leave without looking back.
Felix watched Gianna's retreating figure, his eyes icy, his heart seething with anger.
On her way back, Gianna ran into Jonah.
Seeing her, he finally let out a sigh of relief.
"Gianna, Felix didn’t do anything to you, did he?"
When he spotted Felix taking Gianna away earlier, he initially didn't plan to interfere, recalling her request that morning not to get involved in her personal matters. However, his worry overtook his caution, leading him to follow them. Despite Jonah's career and safety being on her mind, Gianna couldn't help but notice the genuine concern in his eyes.
"Thanks for the concern, Movie Star. However, it's a marital matter, and perhaps it's better if you don’t pry into such things in the future."
Jonah's expression stiffened, and it took him a moment to respond. "Gianna, actually, I needed to talk to you about something else."
"What is it?"
"Felix's secretary approached me, wanting to buy your villa. He must’ve thought it belonged to me."
Gianna frowned, recalling that to prevent her assets from being traced, she indeed had registered the villa under someone else’s name.
But the fact that Felix traced it back to Jonah puzzled her.
Without their knowledge, Sophia's contact had mistakenly entered an incorrect house number when looking up the ownership of the villa. This led to the property being listed under Jonah's name instead of the actual owner's.
"I see. Thanks for letting me know," she acknowledged.
After returning to her room, Gianna showered and went directly to bed. She made up her mind to leave early the following day, as the resort trip had been filled with nothing but distress, hardly better than staying home to sleep. In the middle of the night, the faint sound of her door card beeping at the sensor startled her awake.
Lying still, waiting for her eyes to adjust to the darkness, she spotted a figure slowly approaching the bedside.
The moment the silhouette reached the edge, Gianna abruptly rolled over and lunged at the intruder.
The unexpected resistance surprised her assailant, but instinctively, they dodged to one side.
Gianna narrowed her eyes, recognizing a trained move. She was about to strike again when suddenly, the light by the bed flicked on.
The moment Gianna recognized the figure standing obliquely in front of her, irritation flashed in her eyes. "Felix, why on earth are you creeping into my room in the dead of night?!"
Angry at the hotel's careless mistake of giving her room key to someone else, Gianna vowed to file a complaint as soon as possible in the morning.
Felix regarded her coolly. "Aren't you going to explain how you've become so nimble, Gianna?”
Had his reflexes not been so quick just moments before, he'd surely be sporting a bruise.
Gianna met his gaze with icy detachment. "You're keeping plenty of secrets yourself. Why should I explain anything to you?"
"Even if you don't explain, I'll find out on my own."
At that, Gianna let out a scoff, "Fine, go ahead and try."
As long as he can actually find something!
Seeing her composed expression as if confident he wouldn't uncover a thing, Felix's lips tightened, a cold glint passing through his eyes.
Gianna's patience was wearing thin. "Did you really skulk to my room in the middle of the night just to ask me that nonsense?"
Annoyance and irritation filled her eyes, deepening the intensity in Felix's own.
"I've checked out of my previous room."
With a lack of interest but some curiosity, she prodded, "So?"
"I'll be sleeping here with you tonight."
The words were so calmly delivered, given their strained relationship, that Gianna almost burst into incredulous laughter.
"Well, if you insist on staying here, then I'll just have to get another room," she declared.
As Gianna grabbed her jacket and made for the door, Felix's patience snapped. "Gianna, I mean it. You're staying in this room with me tonight!"
She glanced back at him, "Nothing is a must."
With quick steps, she headed to the door. As she barely opened it, a large hand suddenly reached from behind and slammed it shut.
The next second, Gianna was hoisted up in a sideways embrace, fury blazing in her eyes. "If you're sick, Felix, then get to a hospital. I'm not a doctor; I can't cure crazy!"
Unaffected, Felix tossed her onto the bed, lay down beside her, and pulled her into his arms.
"Time to sleep."
With that, he closed his eyes as if he was about to fall asleep, leaving Gianna fuming.
"Let me go!"
Gianna fought against his embrace, but his grip around her waist remained strong and unyielding, like an impenetrable fortress she couldn't escape from.
Not long after, Gianna felt Felix's gaze on her deepen to an unsettling intensity.
Furious, she hissed through gritted teeth, "You're a creep! A perv!"
"If you don't want to sleep, we can always do something else," he suggested.
The flicker of desire in his eyes caught Gianna off guard, and she instinctively froze, ultimately ceasing any motion.
In the end, Gianna had no idea how she had drifted off to sleep, but when she awoke, the room was bathed in daylight.
Finding Felix still embraced her in the same position as last night, she furrowed her brow, nudged Felix with a hand, and implored with evident impatience, "Can you let go now?!"
Felix's eyes fluttered open, sharp with clarity despite the remnants of slumber.
His grip tightened around Gianna, his voice husky, "A little longer."
"You sleep if you want. I'm getting up, so let go!"
She pushed at Felix, who didn't make it difficult for her this time, and released his hold promptly.
Gianna got out of bed to freshen up, and by the time she was done, Felix, too, had risen.
"We'll have breakfast together."
Gianna remained silent, her hands busily packing her things, not missing a beat.
After Felix retreated into the bathroom, Gianna, bag in tow, left without a word.
Just as she opened the door, she saw Bella looking quite pale.
Gianna brushed past her without a word, heading straight for the elevator.
Barely a few steps away, Bella's icy voice followed, "Gianna, don't think you've won. Felix loves me!"
Perhaps to keep Felix from overhearing, she intentionally lowered her voice.
Gianna didn’t even pause, completely uninterested in what she said.
Who Felix loved was of no consequence to her as long as their marriage was swiftly dissolved.
Back at the villa, after a refreshing shower, Gianna planned to order some takeout before catching up on sleep.
What she didn't expect was Felix to arrive alongside the delivery.
Seeing his somber expression mirrored her own displeasure.
"Felix, you sure know how to stick around! I'm already staying away from you, and still, you won't let me be?!"
Felix met her gaze coldly, "Come back with me."
He desired to purchase the villa, but Jonah refused to compromise.
Gianna snapped back, clearly annoyed. "I won't go back with you! Please leave now, or I'm calling the police!"
To her surprise, Felix arched an eyebrow and scoffed, "Sure, I'd like to see if the police care about you staying at another man's villa!"
