Chapter 318
Gianna rolled her eyes and snapped, "Felix, we're done. I don't owe you any explanations."
"Gianna."
But she wasn't having it. She swung the door open, stormed into the villa, and slammed it shut behind her.
Felix's face darkened. He pulled out his phone, ready to call her, but it buzzed first.
The butler's voice came through. "Felix, Natalie wants you over here."
An hour later, as he walked into Harmony Garden, Natalie's icy voice cut through the air. "Felix, I heard you went to see Gianna again?"
Felix hesitated for a second, then hurried over and plopped down across from Natalie. "Grandma, I agreed to the divorce, but that doesn't mean I'm letting her go."
Natalie scowled. "And what about Gianna's safety? You can't protect her. Thundertop's already got their eyes on you. Staying in touch with her just puts her in more danger!"
Felix took a deep breath, locking eyes with Natalie. "Grandma, now that we're divorced, maybe she'll find someone else."
Natalie snapped, "If she does, then you two were never meant to be. I told you not to mess with the key, but you didn't listen. Now, are you dragging Gianna into this mess too?"
Felix went silent, his eyes filled with frustration and reluctance, his fists clenching at his sides.
"Just because I have the Clinton family's mission, does that mean I can't be with the one I love?"
Natalie shot back, "Exactly! And you need to make her give up on you. It's for the best."
"I can't do it!"
Felix was on edge, his face twisted in agony. Letting go of Gianna felt worse than death.
He couldn't picture his life without her.
Natalie stared him down. "Even if you can't, you must! Remember, you agreed to the divorce to protect her. Seeing her tonight just puts her in more danger. Do you want her with you, risking her life, or safe and away from you? Think about it!"
With that, Natalie got up and left.
Felix sat there for ages, radiating cold vibes, and the servants kept their distance.
The butler helped Natalie back to her room and couldn't help but say, "Natalie, Felix really cares about Miss Redstone. He only smiles when she's around. Now, he's icy. I've watched him grow up, and I just want him to be happy."
Natalie sighed. "If only he were born into a normal family. Then he wouldn't have to deal with the key and could be with the woman he loves. But he can't. The people in Thundertop are ruthless. If Gianna stays with him, she's in danger.!"
The butler remained silent and left.
The next morning, Natalie saw Felix still on the sofa, in the same spot as last night, clearly having not slept. Her heart ached.
"Felix."
Before she could finish, Felix cut her off, "Grandma, I've made up my mind. I won't bother her anymore."
Seeing the resolve in his eyes, Natalie felt a swirl of emotions and said, "Felix, it's good you're thinking this way. You and Gianna were never meant to be. When she loved you, you didn't care. Now that you love her, she's already moved on. You two are on different paths."
Felix shut his eyes, trying to block out the pain. "Grandma, I get it. Please, no more."
For the next week, Felix vanished from Gianna's life, like he never existed.
But then James showed up with a transfer agreement.
Seeing that Felix had given her half his shares in the Clinton Group, $20 million, and a bunch of properties in Dawnridge, Gianna flat-out refused.
They were divorced; she didn't need his charity.
She never expected Felix to be so generous.
Back at the Clinton Group, James relayed Gianna's refusal to Felix. "Mr. Clinton, Miss Redstone won't take any of it."
Felix glanced at the documents and said, "Find a way to transfer them to her name anyway."
"Got it," James replied.
After James left, Felix couldn't focus on his work and tossed the documents aside, closing his eyes to rest.
His phone rang. It was an unknown number.
As soon as he answered, Lauren's frantic voice came through, "Mr. Clinton, Bella says her stomach hurts. Can you take her to the hospital? I'm alone here and don't know what to do."
Felix's eyes flashed with irritation. He was about to refuse but then reconsidered. "I'll be right there."
When he got to the Redstones', he saw Bella on the sofa, clutching her stomach. Felix approached with a cold expression. "I called an ambulance. It's outside. Let's go."
Bella was shocked he actually came. "Felix, you really came. I was so scared."
She tried to grab his hand, but he pulled away.
He looked down at her, his voice icy. "Bella, I don't have time for games. Why did you really call me?"
Bella's eyes flickered with panic. "Felix, what are you talking about? I don't understand."
Felix sneered, "I'll give you one last chance. Spill it, or don't ever call me again."
Seeing him turn to leave, Bella quickly said, "Felix, wait! I'll tell you!"
Felix turned back, his eyes cold and unfeeling.
Under his intense gaze, Bella felt guilty, her fingers twisting together.
"Felix, Thomas may be a jerk, but he's still my child's father. If I take you to him, can you spare his life?"
Felix's eyes turned icy, his expression mocking. "Bella, do you think I'm an idiot?"
Bella was stunned, not expecting that. "Felix, what do you mean?"
"After everything Thomas did to you, you still want to save him? Are you too kind, or is this a trap you and Thomas cooked up?"
