Chapter 377

Beauchamp snapped, "When have I ever been stubborn? If anyone's got a stubborn streak, it's Celeste!"

Just mentioning Celeste brought a soft, nostalgic look to Beauchamp's rugged face. If his parents hadn't deleted that text from Celeste, and if he'd shown up on time, maybe he would've run off with her to some small town where no one knew them, living a simple, happy life.

Every time he thought about that, regret and pain hit him hard. He took off his glasses, looking like he'd aged ten years in an instant.

When Felix walked out of Greenwood Mansion, he looked pissed. He headed straight to the car, got in, and barked, "Back to the office."

James wanted to ask if he wasn't going home, but seeing Felix's stormy expression, he kept quiet.

Back at the office, Felix dismissed James and went straight to his own office. But once he opened the file, he couldn't focus. His mind was stuck on what Beauchamp had just said.

Three years ago, after finding out Beauchamp was his real dad and that the key was something he'd given to Celeste, Felix had taken the key to Thundertop and handed it back, saying he'd never acknowledge him as his father.

In these three years, even though he'd expanded the Clinton Group up to Thundertop, he and Beauchamp had stayed like two parallel lines, never crossing paths, both avoiding each other.

He thought Beauchamp felt the same, but now Beauchamp wanted to hand over the Courtenay Family to him. Beauchamp must be nuts!

Thinking about the Courtenay Family, disgust flashed in Felix's eyes. Everyone there was scheming, always trying to grab more of the family's assets. That family was rotten to the core, and he wanted no part of it.

Late at night, Felix got back to the villa.

Only a single recessed light was on in the living room. Constance was asleep on the sofa, her long hair covering most of her face, showing just her pink lips and delicate chin. Her lips parted slightly as she breathed, exuding a quiet allure that drew Felix in, making her look like an ethereal vision of beauty and grace.

Felix's steps faltered, and he suddenly felt a tightness in his throat. He walked over quietly, squatting down beside Constance, gazing at her with infatuation.

Sensing someone watching her, Constance slowly opened her eyes. Seeing Felix's face so close, she was startled. "When did you get back? Why didn't you wake me up?"

Constance clutched her rapidly beating heart. If she hadn't reacted quickly, she might've punched Felix in the face.

Felix replied, "Just got back. You were sleeping so soundly, I didn't want to wake you."

Constance thought, 'You just sat there staring at me; that's really creepy, okay?'

Maybe seeing the wariness on her face, Felix touched his nose and changed the subject. "Did you fall asleep on the sofa waiting for me?"

A hint of panic flashed in Constance's eyes, but she quickly composed herself and said calmly, "No, I just fell asleep watching TV."

Felix glanced around the room. "Then why's the TV off now?"

Seeing the probing look in his eyes, Constance frowned slightly, her voice turning cold. "Mr. Clinton, you don't need to test me. I have no interest in you and don't intend to rekindle any feelings. Tonight was really just an accident. I'm going upstairs to sleep."

With that, Constance pushed him away, put on her slippers, and went straight upstairs. It wasn't until she got back to her room that she finally relaxed. Then came the annoyance.

Constance thought, 'Why do I care about when he comes back and even fall asleep waiting downstairs? In three months, we'll be strangers. There's no need to care about him.'

Early the next morning, Constance had barely gotten up when her phone rang. It was Rebecca, sounding frantic. "Constance! Are you home? I'm coming to get you! I need your help with something urgent!"

Constance, sensing the urgency, quickly replied, "What's going on? Drive safe, don't rush."

Rebecca explained, "One of our costume designers had a car accident last night and broke a bone. She's out for a month. You know how much it costs to delay even a day. Can you come check the costumes and see what needs fixing? It'll only take about two hours a day. I'll give you a 5% cut of the show's profits. Deal?"

Constance frowned. "But I still have my job."

"I remember you're at Luminary Ventures Group, right? If you agree, I'll talk to your boss right away," Rebecca offered promptly.

Constance replied, "Go ahead and try. If Luminary Ventures Group agrees, I'm in." After all, she'd be helping a friend and getting a share of the profits.

"Great, I'll call you back soon!" Rebecca said, sounding relieved.

A few hours later, Rebecca managed to convince the general manager of Luminary Ventures Group to allow Constance to help with the costumes. Feeling triumphant, she drove over to pick up Constance from Golden Bay Villas.

As soon as Constance got in the car, Rebecca hugged her. "Constance, thank you so much! I love you! With you on board, this show is going to be a hit!"

Constance pushed her away, laughing. "How did you convince Luminary Ventures Group to let me work half-days?"

"Don't worry about it. They got their benefits, so you're not holding up their work."As Rebecca started the car, she asked, "Are you living alone now?"

Constance shook her head and briefly explained her situation with Felix, which left Rebecca stunned.

"I can't believe you and Felix have such a history," Rebecca said, her eyes wide with surprise.

Rebecca and Constance had met three years ago while studying abroad, so Rebecca didn't know about her past.

Constance sighed, "When I first found out, I was even more shocked than you, but now I've accepted it."

"Mr. Clinton is so handsome. Even if you've forgotten him, spending every day with such a good-looking guy, you might fall for him in less than three months. Are you sure you'll want to divorce him then?"

Rebecca remembered Felix being voted the most desirable bachelor by the socialites of Thundertop, and many women wanted to get close to him.

Constance raised an eyebrow. "Do you think I'm the type to fall for someone just because of their looks?"

No matter how good-looking someone was, they'd eventually age. Only a connection of souls could keep a relationship lasting.

Rebecca smiled. "Of course not, but from what you've said, I think Felix still has feelings for you. Even after three months, it won't be easy to get rid of him."

"We've already signed the divorce agreement. Once the three months are up, whether he likes it or not, we're done." For some reason, saying this made Constance feel uneasy. She lowered her eyes, trying to figure out what that feeling was, when the car suddenly stopped.

Rebecca reminded her, "Constance, we're here!"

Constance put her thoughts aside and got out of the car with Rebecca. They were at Thundertop's famous film city, bustling with film crews and tourists.

As they walked inside, Rebecca laughed. "When I first met you, I wanted to trick you into joining my company as an actress, but I didn't succeed. If you had become an actress, you'd definitely have a ton of fans!"

Seeing the regret in Rebecca's eyes, Constance calmly said, "I'm not interested in acting. Designing suits me better."
