Chapter 357
Constance looked grossed out. "Save your heart for those cute young guys."
Rebecca grinned. "That's why you're my bestie, you always know what I'm thinking."
"Alright, don't forget to send me the script for that play. I'll whip up some costume designs after I read it."
Rebecca nodded. "Sure thing, I'll email it to you when I get home."
Two hours later, they wrapped up their meal.
As they were paying at the front desk, a group of people came down from the second floor. Leading them was Felix, followed by some family heads who had climbed the ranks in Thundertop over the years.
Constance frowned and whispered, "I'll wait for you outside."
Rebecca didn't even look up. "Okay, I'll be out soon."
Seeing Constance leave in a hurry, Felix's eyes darkened. Her attempt to avoid him made Felix feel really uncomfortable.
When Rebecca walked out of the restaurant, Constance was leaning against the car, looking down and lost in thought.
Rebecca quickly walked up to her and smiled. "Why'd you rush out? See someone you didn't want to?"
Constance glared at her. "No, it just felt stuffy inside. It's getting late, I'm heading back now."
Rebecca reminded her, "Alright, be safe on the way home. Text me when you get there."
"You too."
On the way back, thinking about Felix's intense gaze, Constance felt a wave of irritation. She had told herself not to care, but Felix's image still popped into her mind.
Just as Constance was lost in thought, a large truck suddenly came straight at her car.
By the time she noticed, it was too late to dodge. She could only sharply turn the steering wheel, crashing hard into the guardrail.
Half of the car was already hanging over the cliff, the other half teetering precariously.
The truck was about to reverse and push Constance's car off the cliff when several black sedans appeared behind it.
The truck driver glanced in the rearview mirror and immediately started the truck to leave.
Seeing the accident ahead, James quickly braked. When he saw the car teetering on the edge of the cliff, his eyes widened in shock. "Mr. Clinton, the car in the accident ahead looks like Miss Redstone's!"
Hearing this, Felix's face changed. He immediately pushed open the car door and quickly walked over. Seeing that it was indeed Constance, his face changed again.
At this moment, the airbags had already deployed, and Constance's face was covered in blood. She was unconscious.
Felix ordered, "James, call an ambulance!"
He walked to the driver's seat, opened the door, and was about to pull Constance out when he found her leg was stuck in the car.
James finished the call and turned to see Constance's car leaking oil. He quickly said, "Mr. Clinton, it's dangerous here! Let's move to a safe place and wait for the ambulance!"
"No. You step back!" As he spoke, he didn't even look at James, focusing on trying to pull Constance out of the car.
Seeing the oil leak getting worse and the car starting to smoke, James was worried. "Mr. Clinton, it's really dangerous now. You should move to a safe place first!"
Felix ignored him and continued his efforts.
James stared at his back, hesitated for a few seconds, then gritted his teeth and rushed over to help.
"James, go back!" Felix shouted.
He could risk his own life to save Constance, but he couldn't let James take the same risk.
James said, "Mr. Clinton, instead of scolding me, you should think about how to get Miss Redstone out!"
Hearing this, Felix didn't waste any more time. After ten minutes of effort, they finally got Constance out of the car.
Just as they breathed a sigh of relief, James smelled burning gasoline and shouted, "Mr. Clinton! Get Miss Redstone out of here! The car's about to blow!"
They supported Constance and quickly moved away from the car.
Just a few feet away, there was a loud explosion behind them. The car blew up, and debris hit their backs. James spat out a mouthful of blood, and Felix was knocked unconscious.
When Felix woke up, he found himself in a hospital. He quickly sat up and tried to get out of bed to find James and Constance, but as soon as he stood up, a sharp pain shot through his back, and he fell forward uncontrollably.
As he fell, he reached out to grab the table by the bed, knocking over the medicine and bottles on it.
A nurse opened the door and came in. Seeing Felix's disheveled state, she quickly helped him back to bed and said, "Mr. Clinton, your injuries are severe. The car explosion fragments injured your back and leg nerves. You need to rest well, or you might have lasting effects."
Felix asked, "How are the two people who were with me?"
"Don't worry. They're fine. They're still unconscious, but they should wake up in an hour or two."
Felix's serious expression relaxed a bit, and he lay back on the bed as the nurse instructed.
Felix replied, "Okay. Where's my phone? Could you please get it for me?"
The nurse opened the drawer next to him, took out Felix's phone, and handed it to him. "Mr. Clinton, I'll clean up the room. Let me know if you need anything."
With his phone in hand, Felix immediately called the vice president of the Clinton Group, instructing him to bring documents to the hospital for him to handle. Then Felix dialed another number.
Felix ordered, "Investigate Constance's car accident. If I'm right, it was intentional. I want results in three days!"
Constance felt like she had a long dream. In the dream, she seemed to get married and deeply loved her man, but he didn't love her at all and kept hurting her.
When she woke up, she couldn't help but think the dream version of herself was too humble. If the man she liked treated her like that in real life, she would have left him long ago.
She forced herself not to think about the dream and slowly sat up. Realizing she was in a hospital room, she immediately pressed the call button.
Soon, a nurse came in. Seeing her awake, the nurse quickly asked, "Miss Drake, are you feeling any discomfort? We've contacted your family, and they should be here soon."
At first, all three of them were unconscious. Besides Felix, who often appeared on TV, the hospital staff didn't recognize James and Constance. It wasn't until Felix woke up and they asked him that they learned Constance's identity.
Constance said, "I just feel a bit dizzy and nauseous."
Her face was pale, her forehead wrapped in bandages, and she looked very fragile, making anyone who saw her feel pity.
The nurse asked, "You hit your head in the car accident. The examination showed a mild concussion. These symptoms are normal. Do you have any other discomfort?"
Constance shook her head. "No, that's all. By the way, who brought me to the hospital?"
The nurse was about to answer when the door to the room opened.
Eliza and Timothy rushed in, their faces full of worry.
Seeing Constance in a hospital gown, looking pale, Eliza immediately started crying. "Constance, how did you get into a car accident? Your dad and I almost fainted when we got the news!"
