Chapter 387

Delilah stopped crying the second she got yelled at, her eyes wide with fear, worried she might get hit again if she made Bella mad.

Bella picked her up, dusted her off, and said slowly, "Delilah, when we see Felix later, you need to say this."

She then taught Delilah a bunch of sweet-talking lines and had her practice them over and over before heading to the Clinton Group.

But as soon as they got there, the receptionist stopped them. "Miss Redstone, Mr. Clinton said you can't just come in here whenever you want anymore."

Bella froze, embarrassment flashing in her eyes. Was Felix treating her like this because of Constance?

She pulled out her phone to call Felix, but the line was busy. Looked like Felix really wanted to cut her off completely. But she wasn't giving up that easily!

Bella put her phone away and pushed Delilah towards the receptionist. "If he won't see me, he has to see his niece. I have something urgent, so I'll leave Delilah with you. Take her to Felix!"

Before the receptionist could react, Bella turned and walked away quickly. The receptionist tried to go after her, but Delilah clung to her leg.

"Take me to see Felix," Delilah pleaded, her eyes full of desperation. If she went back to Bella, she'd get scolded, maybe even hit, and locked in the dark room. Just thinking about the dark room made Delilah shiver, her face going pale.

The receptionist sighed, "I'll call Mr. Clinton first."

Soon, James came down. Seeing that Bella had really left Delilah alone at the reception, anger flashed in his eyes.

This wasn't the first time Bella had pulled this stunt. Using her own daughter to get close to Felix? She was unfit to be a mother.

The receptionist quickly said, "James, please take her away. People are already asking if she's my kid." She was only twenty-one and didn't even have a boyfriend!

James nodded. "Okay."

Even though he couldn't stand Bella, he couldn't be mad at a three-year-old. The kid was innocent.

"Delilah, come here. I'll take you to see Felix," James said.

"Okay." As soon as she answered, Delilah's small body collapsed forward.

James's face darkened, and he quickly caught her. Feeling her burning forehead, he called the Clinton family doctor and carried Delilah upstairs, looking serious.

In Felix's office, just as he finished a document, there was a knock on the door.

"Come in," Felix said.

James walked in, his face dark as he carried Delilah. "Mr. Clinton, Delilah has a fever, and Bella just left her downstairs alone. It's not just the fever; if she hadn't fainted, I might not have noticed in time!"

Felix's face turned grim, and he said coldly, "Did you call the family doctor?"

"I did, and he's on his way." James replied, gently placing Delilah on the sofa. His eyes were filled with worry.

Delilah was really suffering with a mother like Bella. Bella only saw her as a tool to get close to Felix and never treated her like her own daughter.

Felix barked, "Go see if anyone's got a fever patch or something. If not, grab a wet towel."

"Got it."

Half an hour later, the family doctor, Austin, checked Delilah and couldn't help but say, "Mr. Clinton, how could Delilah's fever go untreated for so long? Her temperature was sky-high. If this keeps up, it could cause permanent brain damage."

Felix's face darkened. "I get it. James, show Austin out."

After seeing Austin out, James could feel the tension in the room. "Mr. Clinton," he began.

Felix snapped, "Call Bella right now and tell her to get here! If she refuses, Delilah's done with her, and she won't see her again!"

James was taken aback by his icy tone and quickly dialed Bella, but her phone was off. "Mr. Clinton, her phone's off."

A cold glint flashed in Felix's eyes. "Forget it. Don't bother calling anymore."

James didn't dare say another word and quietly put the phone down.

Looking at the now-sleeping Delilah, Felix felt a headache coming on. If he took Delilah back, Constance would definitely be upset, but he couldn't trust anyone else to take care of her.

With a sigh, Felix said, "You go back to work. I'll stay here and watch over her."

"Okay."

After James left, Felix thought for a bit and decided to have James find a nanny to take care of Delilah. He also needed to inform Constance about this, or it could lead to misunderstandings later.

Meanwhile, after wrapping up her work with the crew, Constance rushed to the company.

In the afternoon, Holly knocked on the office door and hesitantly said, "Constance, I stayed up late last night to draw a few design sketches. Could you take a look at them?"

Constance was surprised by her initiative, a look of astonishment flashing in her eyes. She put down the document in her hand and said, "Sure. Let me see."

After looking at the design sketches, she pointed out a few specific issues, and Holly's eyes lit up instantly. "Constance, you're amazing! Why didn't I think of that?"

Constance smiled. "Your designs have great potential. With more experience, you'll develop your own unique style. Keep it up."

Hearing this, Holly was overjoyed. "Really? I'll definitely work hard!"

"Yes. I believe in you. Now, let's get back to work, shall we?"

Leaving Constance's office, Holly placed the design sketches on her desk and went to get some water. Just as she reached the door, she saw Jennifer making coffee at the bar.

Holly frowned and was about to leave when Jennifer noticed her.

Jennifer asked, "Holly, am I that scary? Why do you run away as soon as you see me?"

Knowing Jennifer's reputation for dealing with colleagues she didn't like, Holly didn't want to interact with her but also didn't dare to offend her.

She forced a smile and walked in slowly. "No, I just saw you making coffee and didn't want to disturb you."

Jennifer smiled, took a sip of her coffee, and raised an eyebrow. "So, did Constance agree to look at your design sketches? If she didn't, you can always come to me."

Holly quickly declined, "No need. Constance already looked at them and pointed out several issues. I appreciate the offer, Jennifer, but I don't want to impose."

Jennifer wasn't angry; her smile deepened. "Holly, you're still young. Sometimes the advice you think is enlightening might not be good for you and could even stifle your creativity."
