Chapter 322

Thinking about it, Thomas's face got real dark. If Gianna was actually Iris, he'd take her out, no question.

"Get a couple of guys to test Gianna's skills," Thomas ordered.

"Got it, boss."

Once his guy left, Thomas's eyes turned cold as ice.

That night, over at the Clinton place.

Ximena was about to hit the sack when her phone buzzed. A message from some rando number popped up: [Felix ain't your kid.]

Reading it, Ximena frowned hard.

She let out a cold laugh, thinking, 'What kind of nutjob sent this? Felix is my kid, no doubt about it.'

She deleted the message right away.

Ten minutes later, Connor came out of the bathroom, lifted the blanket, and slid in next to Ximena.

After the whole mess with Thomas, things had cooled down between them, but they were still pretty distant.

Just as he was about to kill the lights, Ximena suddenly said, "Has the Clinton Group pissed anyone off lately?"

Connor looked surprised and frowned. "Not that I know of. Why?"

"It's nothing. Some nut sent me a message saying Felix isn't my kid. It's a joke." Ximena said casually, not noticing Connor tensing up for a second. "Weren't you gonna turn off the light? What's the holdup?"

"Oh, right away," Connor replied.

Soon, the room was dark.

Ximena fell asleep fast, but Connor was still stuck on what she said.

Early the next morning, Connor headed straight to Harmony Garden.

When Natalie heard about it, she got serious. "The Thundertop folks know the key's with our family. Some of them are getting ready to make a move. Felix's secret won't stay hidden for long."

Connor's face turned grim. "Ximena's not gonna take this well."

After all, Felix was raised by her, but in the end, she found out he wasn't her biological child. Anyone would have a hard time accepting that.

Even though Connor wasn't into Ximena, they'd been married over twenty years, and she gave him Hannah.

Natalie sighed, "Ximena's gonna have to deal with it, like it or not. We gotta tell her sooner or later."

A look of sadness crossed Natalie's face. If Ximena's real kid had lived, he'd be as sharp as Felix by now.

What a shame.

Connor said, "Mom, I'll find out who's behind this. When I do, they won't get away with it!"

Natalie nodded and let him go.

She knew the Clinton family was in deep trouble. The key was out, and heading to Thundertop was their best bet.

Only the person at Thundertop could keep the Clinton family safe!

At Thundertop, the Forbes Mansion.

Gregory Forbes stood on the veranda feeding fish, while a subordinate reported the latest from Dawnridge. "Mr. Forbes, I sent a message to Ximena, telling her Felix isn't her kid, but no response yet."

A cold smile spread across Gregory's face. "Keep at it. We need to shake up the Clinton family."

Gregory's eyes were icy. He'd planned to use Thomas to get the key, but that idiot couldn't get anything right.

When Thomas was on death's door after Felix tortured him, Gregory took him in, only for the fool to betray him as soon as he got better!

If Thomas wasn't still useful, Gregory would've offed him ages ago!

"Got it."

"By the way, how's Thomas's plan to get back at Felix going?" Gregory asked, tossing the last bit of fish food into the pond.

"He's looking into Gianna right now."

Gregory frowned. "Why's he messing with Gianna instead of going after Felix? Idiot!"

"I don't know," the subordinate mumbled, looking down.

After a few seconds, Gregory said coldly, "Forget him. As long as he's still gunning for Felix, that's what matters. Just make sure Felix doesn't catch wind of him."

Once the subordinate left, a cold smile crept onto Gregory's face. 'Once Felix is out of the picture, getting the key will be a piece of cake!'

Ximena had been feeling like someone was tailing her while she was out shopping these past few days, but every time she turned around, nothing seemed off.

Feeling eyes on her again, she quickly looked around but saw nothing unusual.

She frowned, thinking, 'Am I just too tired and imagining things?'

Shaking it off, she ducked into her usual store, swiped her card for a new dress she had ordered, and left.

As she reached the curb, waiting for her driver to pull up, someone suddenly shoved her from behind. Ximena stumbled onto the road, and a car came barreling towards her!

Felix and Connor rushed to the hospital an hour later.

"Doc, how's my wife?" Connor asked, his voice shaky.

"Mr. Clinton, Mrs. Clinton is about to go into surgery. Please sign the consent form."

Connor grabbed the pen, signed the form, and pleaded, "You have to save her!"

The doctor nodded. "Don't worry, Mr. Clinton. We'll do our best. She was brought in quickly, so the surgery has a good chance of success."

After the doctor left, Connor turned to Felix, his voice cold. "Felix, have you figured out what caused the accident?"

This had to be deliberate. The Thundertop folks were making their move!

Felix nodded. "Surveillance shows someone in a mask and hat pushed her onto the road. But they were covered up well, so we haven't ID'd them yet."

"Keep digging. We need to find out who did this!" Connor demanded.

They fell silent, standing by the operating room door, waiting for Ximena's surgery to end.

The last time Ximena got hurt by Thomas and fell off a cliff, it was also in the dead of night. Felix had waited outside the operating room then too, but that time, Gianna was with him.

Three hours later, the surgery finally wrapped up.

"Mr. Clinton, the surgery went well. Mrs. Clinton's injuries aren't too bad, but because her previous accident injuries haven't healed, she needs to rest properly this time, or she'll have lasting issues."

"Got it. Thanks, doc."

Knowing Ximena was okay, Felix left. He had bigger fish to fry.

Half an hour earlier, James had nabbed the person who pushed Ximena.

The guy was about to board a plane to skip town. If James had been a few minutes later, they would've missed him.

When Felix entered the basement, the guy was already beaten to a pulp but still wouldn't talk.

James frowned and said, "Mr. Clinton, this guy's tough. It's gonna take some time to break him."
