Chapter 278

Felix's eyes went icy. "This ain't your business. Don't sweat it."

Gianna nodded, "Got it." There was a pause on the other end before Gianna's soft voice came through.

Felix didn't want her stressing, so he said, "No need to pull an all-nighter tonight. How about we grab dinner? Didn't you wanna check out that new spot?"

Gianna shot him down, "Maybe next time. Got plans tonight."

Felix sighed, "Alright."

After hanging up, Gianna called Garrett, "Garrett, I need a favor."

Later that evening, at Dawnridge Hotel.

The butler burst in, "Mr. Getty, I got a hold of the miracle doc, Crescent!"

Daniel's eyes lit up, "For real? Set up a meet ASAP."

Leon nodded, "Got it, I'll call."

Daniel cut him off, "No, go get him yourself!"

Seeing how crucial this was, the butler bolted out the door.

Two hours later, the butler returned and informed Daniel that he had scheduled a meeting with Garrett at a restaurant next to the hotel for 10 a.m.

Next morning, Daniel showed up early.

The butler chuckled, "Mr. Getty, chill. We got over an hour."

Daniel frowned, "Why's time crawling? You sure about the time?"

"You're just too hyped."

Daniel sighed, "I gotta be. Every woman I've found for him lately has bailed, and meds ain't working. I need a miracle for him to bounce back and take over the Getty Group."

He felt a pang of guilt.

"If I'd brought him into the Getty family sooner, he wouldn't be so distant now," Daniel said, feeling ashamed.

"Mr. Jonah Getty will forgive you someday."

Daniel replied, "I hope so."

At 10 a.m., Garrett walked in right on time.

Garrett got straight to the point, "Mr. Getty, what do you need?"

Daniel was caught off guard by Garrett's bluntness. After a beat, he smiled, "Garrett, I knew your dad."

Garrett smiled but stayed quiet, sipping his water.

Daniel's smile faltered, feeling a bit ticked off. But needing Garrett's help, he kept his cool.

"Garrett, I heard you're the miracle doc, Crescent? I need you to operate on my son, Jonah."

Garrett paused, then said, "No, I just know Crescent. Dunno who started that rumor."

Daniel frowned. No wonder the Clinton family couldn't hack it in Thundertop.

"Garrett, can you hook me up with Crescent? I heard Crescent's got mad skills, can save anyone."

Garrett looked troubled, "Mr. Getty, it's not that I don't wanna help, but Crescent's got a weird vibe. If she doesn't wanna see someone, she won't."

Daniel's face darkened, "How do you know she won't see me if you haven't asked? Maybe you just don't wanna help?"

To him, the Parker family was just a bunch of medics. Even with their Thundertop connections, he could crush them if he wanted.

If Garrett wasn't gonna play ball, he wouldn't be nice about it.

Garrett looked innocent, "Then, Mr. Getty, ask yourself what you've done."

Daniel was puzzled, "What do you mean?"

After a beat, Garrett said, "Mr. Getty, Crescent's tight with the Clinton family. Since you're gunning for them, she's got beef with you. If you want her to save Mr. Jonah Getty, you better back off the Clintons."

Daniel's face twisted, "So Crescent's in with the Clintons?"

Garrett nodded, "Yep."

Daniel asked, "If I back off, will Crescent meet me?"

Garrett replied, "It's not a guarantee, but it's your only shot. Letting them go just opens the door."

Daniel sneered, "So she might still blow me off."

Garrett said, "True, but a shot's better than nothing. Think about it, Mr. Getty. You can wait, but Mr. Jonah Getty's running out of time."

Daniel went quiet. He hated the idea of letting the Clintons off the hook, and what if Crescent couldn't even help Jonah?

Daniel asked, "What's the success rate if Crescent operates on Jonah?"

He couldn't risk it all just to find out Crescent was no better than the rest.

Garrett replied, "Fifty percent."

Daniel's eyes widened in shock. He gritted his teeth, "Are you serious?"

If there was really a fifty percent chance, letting the Clintons and Gianna go might be worth it.

Garrett added, "Yeah, I've shown Crescent Mr. Jonah Getty's medical reports."

Daniel agreed, "Alright, I'll back off the Clintons. Tell Crescent I want to meet."

Garrett said, "Mr. Getty, if that's all, I'll head out. I'll let you know as soon as I contact Crescent."

After Garrett left, Leon was pumped, "Sir, Mr. Jonah Getty's finally got a shot!"

But Daniel wasn't as thrilled. With a cold look, he said, "Talk is cheap. If Jonah doesn't make it, Crescent and the Clintons will pay."

Daniel was about to call his secretary, Nicole Howard, to halt the actions against the Clinton Group when his phone lit up.

Seeing it was Nicole, he was surprised.

As soon as he answered, Nicole's panicked voice came through, "Mr. Getty, there are bad rumors about the Getty Group, and someone's planning to sue us!"

Daniel's face darkened, "What's going on?"

Nicole lowered her voice, "It's the families from that construction accident last year. They got proof it was our fault. Now they're suing for compensation, and someone's spreading the news. Our stock's tanking, and the shareholders are meeting without me."

Daniel was livid, "They're pushing it! Get to the meeting room, and don't hang up!"

Nicole replied, "Got it!"

Two minutes later, Daniel's angry voice echoed through the Getty Group's meeting room.

After venting and hearing the shareholders disperse, Daniel calmed down a bit.

He'd only been in Dawnridge a few days, and they dared to hold a meeting behind his back. No respect!

Taking a few deep breaths, Daniel continued to instruct Nicole. "Pause the actions against the Clintons for now. We'll handle everything when I get back."

Nicole replied, "Okay, Mr. Getty. What about the families suing us?"

Daniel said, "Get a lawyer to negotiate. See what they want. If talks fail, make sure they can't speak again!"
