Chapter 389
Eliza scrunched up her face. "But I already told Constance I would. We should respect what she wants."
Timothy shot back, "Remember when she wanted to go back to the Redstone family? We respected that, and look what happened. She went through hell and didn't say a word. We can't screw up like that again!"
Eliza saw the determination in Timothy's eyes and paused before speaking softly, "We should talk to Constance about this. I've already reached out to the doctor who did her hypnosis. We should hear back soon."
Timothy's eyes blazed with anger. "Eliza, bringing back Constance's memories might not be a good idea."
Eliza cut him off, "Let's wait until we hear from the doctor."
Seeing her firm stance, Timothy relented, "Fine, but whether she gets her memory back or not, I'm not letting her stay with Felix. We need to get them divorced ASAP."
The only reason he let Felix take Constance last time was because of their marriage certificate. Once he got the chance, he'd make sure she divorced Felix and came back to the Drake family.
Eliza reassured him, "Don't stress. Constance told me they already signed the divorce papers. It'll be final in three months. Felix won't force her to stay if she doesn't want to."
Timothy's eyes narrowed with suspicion. He knew Felix from the business world and doubted he'd be so easygoing. "Really?"
"Would I lie to you?" Eliza snapped, "Compared to you, Felix is way more straightforward about this."
Timothy scoffed, "He's just playing hard to get. Let's see if he really lets her go in three months."
Eliza challenged, "And if he does?"
"Then I'll throw him a few big deals to thank him for letting her go." Timothy didn't want to argue anymore. "You get some rest. I'm gonna shower and then get some work done."
"Okay."
After a tense shower, Timothy headed to his study and called Declan. "Make sure Oscar stays hidden. I don't want my wife finding him anytime soon."
"Yes, Mr. Drake."
Meanwhile, Constance was tossing and turning in her bedroom, unable to find a comfortable position. She'd only been with Felix for a few days. Was she already getting used to him? The thought made her frown. This wasn't good. She just wanted to get through these three months and then be done with him.
The next morning, Constance woke up with dark circles under her eyes. When she went downstairs, Timothy was already having breakfast. She sat down, and a servant brought her milk and her favorite sandwich.
"Dad, how's Mom doing?" Constance asked.
"Much better. Don't worry." Timothy looked at her seriously. "Your mom said you want to get your memory back?"
"Yeah," Constance replied. "I had many friends and wonderful memories. I don't want to lose them because of Felix."
Timothy frowned. "If you get your memory back, you'll be tangled up with Felix again."
Constance shot back, "No, we signed the divorce papers. In three months, we're done."
Timothy shook his head. "But you don't remember the pain. Isn't that a good thing?"
Facing Timothy's intense stare, Constance took a deep breath. "Dad, I need to know, was it my choice to have the doctor hypnotize me to forget the past, or was it yours?"
Timothy looked taken aback for a moment and then frowned. "It was your choice. Felix almost got you killed because of his ex-girlfriend. After we brought you to Thundertop, you didn't eat or drink for over a week. Eliza was worried sick, so she found a doctor who could do hypnosis and asked if you wanted to forget the past and start over. You agreed."
Constance pressed her lips together and looked at Timothy, speaking slowly, "Then I hope you'll respect my decision to regain my memory this time."
Timothy sighed, "Constance, I just don't want you to get hurt again."
Constance replied, "I understand, but I don't love Felix anymore. He's not worth forgetting my past and my friends."
Timothy was silent for a moment before saying coldly, "I can't agree to this. Don't bring it up again."
With that, Timothy got up and left for work.
Constance sighed. She knew convincing Timothy wouldn't be easy. She pulled out her phone and called Samuel, "Samuel, I need your help with something."
When she explained she wanted Timothy to agree to let her regain her memory, Samuel immediately refused, "Constance, it's not that I don't want to help, but you don't know how furious Dad was when we brought you back from Dawnridge. If it weren't for Brandon and Xavier stopping him, he would've gone to confront Felix right then and there!"
Samuel shivered at the memory.
Constance argued, "But hasn't the Drake Group been working with the Clinton Group these past few years? Dad shouldn't hate Felix that much anymore, right?"
Samuel sighed, "Do you know how those deals were made? The cooperation between the Clinton Group and the Drake Group brings almost no profit to us. Felix keeps cooperating because he values the Drake Group's reputation."
Constance frowned. "So, Dad's just being used?"
Samuel explained, "Even if Dad stopped cooperating with the Clinton Group, Felix could still establish the Clinton Group in Thundertop. If it weren't for Dad's constant efforts to suppress the Clinton Group, the Drake Group might not even be able to surpass them now."
Constance said, "Fine, I'll ask Brandon and Xavier if they'll help me."
"I wouldn't bother. You'll just be disappointed."
Frustrated, Constance snapped, "Are you really my brother?"
Samuel replied, "I'm your brother, which is why I'm telling you the truth. If you want Dad to agree, you'll have to convince him yourself."
Constance scratched her head. She had already tried talking to him, and it hadn't worked.
After hanging up, she called Brandon and Xavier, but they both turned her down too. Feeling stuck, she decided to put the matter aside for now and head to work.
When she arrived at the office, she noticed the designers in the design department whispering about something.
She went to her office and called Holly in. "Holly, what's everyone talking about outside?"
Holly's eyes widened in surprise. "Constance, you haven't heard? There's a rumor that Delilah is Felix and Bella's daughter. Yesterday, a reporter was following a celebrity and accidentally took a photo of the three of them together. Now the internet is going crazy about it!"
