Chapter 361

Ever since Julian's affair with Daisy came to light, he hadn't spoken to Lauren in that tone.

Lauren took the candied fruit and whispered, "Julian, thanks for looking out for me."

"Don't mention it. Once you have the baby, I'll give him half my shares."

When Lauren went to see the doctor before, Julian tagged along. After finding out it was a boy, his attitude towards her changed big time.

Lauren nodded. "Alright, what are you gonna do about Daisy and Jared?"

At the mention of Daisy, Julian's face twisted with disgust. Ever since Jared's mental state went south, Daisy kept blaming Bella and Lauren. At first, Julian tried to comfort her, but over time, he got more and more fed up.

Julian had wanted Daisy to give him another kid, but she never got pregnant. Plus, her constant nagging about Julian not avenging Jared made him not want to see her at all.

Julian replied, "Once you have the baby, I'll send Jared and Daisy away for good!"

Seeing his cold demeanor, Lauren felt a chill run down her spine. She wondered if there'd still be a place for her and Bella in this family if Jared hadn't lost it and Daisy could still have kids.

Lauren asked, "By the way, I want to tell Belle about my pregnancy. When do you think is the best time?"

The baby was only a little over two months along, so it was still a secret. Only a few trusted servants and the couple knew.

Julian replied, "She's at Thundertop now. Better not tell her yet. Wait until the baby's born. If Belle thinks her brother's gonna compete with her for the Redstone family inheritance, she might not want this baby to be born."

Lauren frowned. "Belle would never think that way! I raised her and know her best. Besides, she's with Felix now. Why would she care about the Redstone inheritance?"

Julian was quiet for a moment, then slowly said, "Alright, you decide when to tell her, but at least wait until you're around four months pregnant."

"Okay!"

After Lauren hung up, Bella had a weird feeling. She thought, 'Lauren hates Gianna so much. Knowing Gianna's still alive, how could she be so calm?'

Not dwelling on it, Bella immediately hired a private detective to find out why Gianna wasn't dead. By the time she got home, the detective had already sent her a file.

Bella quickly opened it. According to the detective, the woman who showed up at Felix's hospital room today was Constance Drake, the only daughter of the Drake family from Thundertop. She'd always been a top student and went abroad to study three years ago, only recently coming back.

After reading it, Bella's eyes filled with jealousy and resentment. She thought, 'This Constance must be Gianna. I can't believe Gianna's so lucky. Not only does she survive, but she also becomes the daughter of the Drake family!'

Thinking about how she'd been getting plastic surgery to look like Gianna for the past few years and was about to be with Felix, only for Gianna to reappear, Bella couldn't hold back her hatred. She had to make Constance disappear!

Constance was also curious about Bella and immediately had someone look into her. After getting Bella's info, she learned that Bella was Felix's ex-wife's twin sister and also his so-called ex-girlfriend.

The detective also gave her Gianna's info. Looking at the face so similar to hers, Constance found it too coincidental. She thought, 'Could such a coincidence really happen? But if I were Gianna, the memory alone wouldn't make sense. My memories are intact and continuous from childhood to now, with no gaps.'

After a moment of silence, Constance decided to call Eliza. She didn't beat around the bush. "Mom, am I Gianna?"

Eliza was stunned. After a long pause, she finally said, "Constance, what are you talking about? You're my daughter, not Gianna."

Constance replied, "I've got my memory back."

There was a long silence on the other end. Constance's heart sank. She knew what Eliza's silence meant.

"Mom, why did you lie to me? Why did you erase my memory?" Constance questioned.

"I'm coming to the hospital right now," Eliza said, and hung up.

Constance put her phone down, feeling a mix of confusion and frustration. She had only been testing Eliza, but now she knew she really was Gianna. Yet, she had no memories of being Gianna. She didn't want to be Gianna, but she needed to know what happened three years ago.

After what felt like forever, Eliza and Timothy finally walked into the hospital room.

Seeing Constance sitting on the bed, looking pale and staring at them, Eliza's heart ached, and her eyes welled up.

"Constance."

"Mom, what happened? Why did I lose my memory?"

Eliza sat down by the bed, about to speak, but Timothy cut in, "Constance, you were lying about regaining your memory, weren't you?"

Constance chuckled, "Dad, I knew I couldn't fool you, but I need to know the truth."

Timothy sighed and looked at Eliza. "You tell her."

They hadn't planned to keep it a secret forever, but they didn't expect her to run into Felix so soon.

Eliza sighed and said, "Constance, you used to be Gianna Redstone."

It took Eliza an hour to explain Constance's past.

After listening, Constance's face changed, and she couldn't help but say, "Did I really like Felix that much? Was I that desperate?"

Looking back, she couldn't understand her past behavior. If the guy didn't like her, why not just move on? Why be so desperate?

Eliza nodded. "Yes, but that's all in the past. If you want those memories back, you can."

Constance quickly said, "No, I don't want them. Those memories would only disgust me." She was happy with her current life and didn't want to revolve around a man anymore.

Hearing this, Eliza finally relaxed. "Constance, I'm glad you think that way."

Eliza had been ready to persuade Constance if she wanted her memories back.

Constance smiled. "Mom, don't worry. I'm not that foolish anymore."

Neither of them noticed the tall figure standing outside the hospital room, who had heard everything.

Felix's hand on the doorknob tightened, and the pain in his heart almost crushed him. It turned out that being unloved by the one you love was such a painful thing.

Constance had loved him unconditionally for so many years and must have felt this pain. But he didn't expect that when he loved her the most, she only wanted to cut ties with him.

After standing at the door for a while, Felix turned and went back to his own hospital room. He walked slowly, each step heavy, and his back looked desolate.

In the following days, Constance stayed in the hospital to recover. After learning that James had woken up, she visited him once.

The Drake family gave James and Felix many thank-you gifts, but Felix refused to accept them, insisting that Constance thank him personally. When Constance found out, she told the Drake family to stop worrying about it and that she would handle it.

On the day of her discharge, Constance went to find Felix. "Mr. Clinton, I know I was Gianna, but I don't plan to keep this going. Think over whatever reward you want and call me."
