Chapter 391
Bella, who had been quiet the whole time, suddenly spoke up, "James, can I stay here and look after Felix, please? I promise I'll leave as soon as he wakes up."
James replied, "Miss Redstone, you need to leave. You made your daughter run away and then had reporters take photos and post them online. Do you really want Mr. Clinton to come after you when he wakes up?"
Bella's heart skipped a beat, her eyes wide with disbelief. How did he know?
James looked at her with a blank expression. "Even if Miss Drake isn't into Mr. Clinton anymore, you still don't stand a chance. Please leave now!"
Bella bit her lip and left, feeling like a fool who had been exposed.
Three days later, Felix finally woke up.
James was visibly excited. "Mr. Clinton, you're awake!"
Felix slowly sat up, his face still pale. Every movement tugged at his wounds, making him wince. "Did you catch Thomas?" he asked.
James's face darkened. "Not yet. Someone at Thundertop must be helping him."
For the past three years, Felix had been holding Thomas captive, torturing him day after day. Thomas's hatred for Felix must have reached a boiling point by now. The thought of Thomas's seething anger made Felix's resolve even stronger.
Felix ordered, "Keep investigating. The only ones who can help him at Thundertop are the Four Great Families and the Eight Major Clans. Start with them!"
"Got it!" James's eyes were filled with worry. Would the events of three years ago have to be repeated?
Felix asked, "How's Constance doing lately?"
Speaking of Constance, a flash of dissatisfaction crossed James's eyes. He said in a deep voice, "I've already sent people to protect her in secret, but knowing about your injury and coma, she hasn't come to see you or asked about your condition."
A look of desolation flashed in Felix's eyes. "Okay, I understand. How's the company doing?"
James replied, "The news of your coma hasn't leaked, so the company is fine for now. However..."
"However, what?"
Meeting Felix's sharp gaze, James said, "Photos of you and Bella walking Delilah home that night were taken by reporters. The internet is buzzing with rumors that Delilah is your daughter with Bella."
The temperature in the room suddenly plummeted, turning it into an icy tundra within seconds.
Felix asked, "Does Constance know about this?"
James replied, "Yes, she said if you and Bella are so eager to be together, she wouldn't mind making room for Bella sooner."
The water cup on the table was swept to the ground by Felix, his face darkening to the extreme. "Bring Bella here!"
When Bella heard that Felix had woken up, she dressed up meticulously before heading to the hospital.
As soon as she pushed open the door to the hospital room, a bone-chilling cold swept over her. Instinctively, she looked at Felix on the bed, but his gaze was as cold as ice, even filled with disgust.
Bella's heart skipped a beat. She hesitated for a few seconds before walking in. "Felix."
Felix said, "Bella, you first instigated Delilah to run away from home, then had reporters take photos of me bringing you and Delilah home and post them online. Did you think I wouldn't do anything to you?"
Bella's face turned ashen. He really knew about it.
"I was just too scared," Bella explained, her voice trembling. "When I saw Constance come back, I was afraid you wouldn't care about me and Delilah anymore. Now my mom is pregnant again, and she and my dad plan to have that child as the heir to the Redstone family. In the future, Delilah and I will really be left with nothing. Felix, I'm sorry. I know I was wrong."
Bella covered her face and cried, but Felix's eyes stayed cold as ice. If Bella had come clean from the start, he might've thrown her some cash for Delilah's sake, letting her live out her days in peace. But now, she had schemed against him, and she had to pay the price!
Felix said, "I'll give you three days to move out of my villa. After that, I don't want to see you or Delilah again. You're on your own!"
Bella stood there, frozen, forgetting even to cry, staring at Felix in disbelief. "Felix, what did you say?"
A look of impatience flashed in Felix's eyes. He said coldly, "Don't drag this out. Not only will you get nothing, but you'll also make me despise you even more!"
Bella refused, "No. Where can I go after moving out of the villa? I have no source of income these past few years. If you kick me and Delilah out now, are you trying to drive us to our deaths?"
Felix's expression was mocking. "You used to be a designer. Going back to your old profession can still support you and Delilah."
Bella's face changed dramatically. The thought of returning to her previous life was unbearable. She had grown accustomed to her current lifestyle and couldn't imagine going back to a life of hardship.
Desperation crept into her voice. "Felix, even if you hate me, Delilah is your niece. Are you really going to ignore her?"
Felix let out a cold laugh, staring into her eyes as he said each word slowly, "Have you forgotten? If it weren't for Thomas three years ago, Constance wouldn't have almost been burned to death, and I wouldn't have missed out on three years with her. I've already done my best for you and Delilah."
Bella continued, "No, Delilah is innocent. You can't ignore her!"
Felix's eyes were devoid of any warmth. "I can let her stay with the Clinton family, but only if you sever all ties with her."
Bella's eyes widened in shock. If she lost custody of Delilah, it would be even harder for her to see Felix again. "No! I won't do it!" she refused.
Felix said, "Then leave on your own!"
Bella wanted to beg for his forgiveness one more time, but James directly had the bodyguards push her out of the room.
James said, "Miss Redstone, we'll send people to reclaim the house in three days. If you haven't moved out by then, we'll have to take enforcement measures."
Returning to the villa in a daze, Bella opened the door to find a man sitting on the living room sofa. Her eyes widened in fear, her feet seemingly glued to the floor, unable to move.
The man turned his head slowly at the sound of the door opening. Seeing Bella, he smiled, the scar that ran across half his face making him look especially terrifying.
Bella said, "Thomas, what are you doing here? You're not welcome." If it weren't for him, she wouldn't be in this situation.
Thomas wasn't angry. He stood up and walked over to her, looking down at her from above. "Are you sure you want to kick me out? From what I know, you haven't been doing well these past few years."
Bella's lips trembled. "What does that have to do with you?"
The next second, her chin was grabbed forcefully, and Thomas's scarred face moved closer, stopping just inches from hers.
Bella was trembling all over, utterly terrified.
Seeing her fear, Thomas smiled in satisfaction. "You've been trying to get plastic surgery to look like Gianna all these years, but a fake is a fake. As soon as the real one appeared, Felix abandoned you without hesitation. Don't you want to get back at him?"
Bella pushed his hand away, gritting her teeth. "Do you think I would still believe you at this point? You're just a defeated pawn of Felix, a piece of trash!"
As soon as she finished speaking, a large hand grabbed her neck!
