Chapter 256
After Thomas left, James walked into Felix's office.
"Felix, Thomas called Mr. Martinez to his office after he left."
Felix looked indifferent. "Ignore it. How's Mr. Hughes?"
"If all goes well, Mr. Hughes should be out today."
"Have someone wait at the police station. Bring him to me as soon as he's out."
"Got it!"
By evening, Mr. Hughes was brought to Tranquil Haven Estate.
Seeing Felix, he said excitedly, "Felix, thanks for saving me! I'll stand by you from now on. We can't let Thomas keep running the Clinton Group, or it'll go bankrupt!"
Felix ignored him, looking cold. "Mr. Hughes, I don't want to hear this nonsense. You know why I got you out."
Mr. Hughes nodded and handed him a USB drive, whispering, "Since Thomas became president, he's been transferring money to this account every week. In less than a month, he's moved tens of millions from the Clinton Group."
Felix's eyes flickered with surprise, and he said coldly, "If you have evidence, why not expose him?"
Mr. Hughes looked guilty and said, "I want to, but Thomas is arrogant. He warned us not to make any moves. I'm afraid he'll retaliate if I expose him."
Felix sneered, "You openly resisted him and forced him to agree to my return. Aren't you afraid of his retaliation?"
Mr. Hughes gritted his teeth, "I'm doing this for the Clinton Group..."
"Keeping evidence of him transferring assets is also for the Clinton Group?" Felix asked.
Mr. Hughes fell silent.
Seeing his unpleasant expression, Felix didn't press further. "You can leave now."
"Mr. Clinton, I have elderly to care for and children to raise. Please don't let Thomas know I gave you this evidence."
Felix said nothing, and James sent Mr. Hughes out.
"Mr. Clinton, what should we do now?"
"Investigate this account."
Soon, James returned with a serious expression and handed Felix a document.
"It's clear," he said. "The account belongs to a foreign mercenary organization with a terrible reputation. They do anything for money and have killed many foreign officials in the past two years. They're even publicly wanted by the Country M."
Felix's expression was cold as he wondered, 'How could Thomas be involved with a mercenary organization?'
"Keep investigating, and look into Thomas's experiences abroad in recent years. Quickly!"
"Understood."
After reading the information James gave him, Felix returned to Elm Bay.
Just after dinner, Felix got a call from James.
"Mr. Clinton, I found something. I'll send it to you right away."
James's information came through quickly, and as Felix was browsing it, Gianna said in surprise, "NightShadow Mercenary Organization? Why are you looking into them?"
Felix looked up sharply, "You know the NightShadow Mercenary Organization?"
Gianna immediately realized her mistake and, adjusting her expression, nodded calmly, "Yes, I know. This mercenary organization is notorious and often kills innocents. I've seen it on international news. But isn't the NightShadow Mercenary Organization based abroad?"
Seeing her natural expression without any sign of lying, Felix suppressed his doubts and said indifferently, "Thomas is connected to this organization."
Gianna was shocked, "Could it be that he was working for this organization during those years abroad?"
Felix's eyes darkened, and he said coldly, "Yes, and he's still tied to the NightShadow Mercenary Organization. They even helped attack my forces in Dawnridge."
Gianna fell silent, lowering her eyes in thought.
Gianna said, "I have work to finish. If you need anything, come to the study."
Felix nodded, "Alright."
He went back to reading the information on NightShadow.
In the study, Gianna's expression turned cold. She finally understood why Vulture had set her up back then.
NightShadow and Twilight were rival organizations. NightShadow wanted to take over Twilight, so they planted spies. This led to many mission failures until Twilight's higher-ups found and dealt with the traitors. Gianna's best partner, Ghost Whisperer, was among them.
Gianna didn't believe Ghost Whisperer was a traitor and tried to save her but failed. Since then, she hadn't logged into Twilight's website for three years.
If not for her divorce from Felix, she might never have logged in again.
It seemed that someone had slipped through the cracks during the cleanup, as Vulture had been lurking for so long.
But one thing remained a mystery Gianna. NightShadow never managed their subordinates and mainly operated in southeastern Miraculia. They never ventured beyond their territory, so why would they help Thomas attack Felix's forces?
For NightShadow to risk coming to the Country M, there must be a significant profit involved.
As Gianna thought of this, her expression darkened.
If she told Felix her suspicions, he'd start questioning her identity.
Gianna thought for a while and then made a phone call.
"Organize the information on NightShadow and send it to Felix anonymously."
After hanging up, Gianna left the study.
By this time, Felix had finished reading the information James found, his brows furrowed in thought.
Gianna sat beside him and whispered, "What do you plan to do?"
"I have evidence of Thomas transferring the Clinton Group's assets to NightShadow. First, I'll remove him as president, or the Clinton Group will go bankrupt!"
Gianna nodded, "Yes, and we need to uncover the truth about Jesse and Maria's car accident. Otherwise, he won't give up easily."
Felix's eyes narrowed, and he said coldly, "I've already had someone investigate William. We'll have results soon."
Seeing the fatigue on his face, Gianna said softly, "Let's rest for today. There's been too much going on. You need a good rest."
"Alright."
Back in the room, Felix called James and said coldly, "Organize the evidence of Thomas embezzling the Clinton Group's assets. Send one copy online and another to the police."
Early the next morning, as soon as Thomas arrived at the Clinton Group, the police took him away. Rumors of the Clinton Group going bankrupt spread quickly.
[Felix's parents are murderers, and Thomas embezzled funds. The Clinton Group is done!]
[They really are a family. None of them is any good!]
[This is truly spectacular. The drama in wealthy families is eye-opening!]
But what was even more shocking was that Thomas was released by the afternoon.
As Thomas returned to the Clinton Group, the first thing he did was to find Felix.
"Felix, did you think handing that evidence to the police would be enough to punish me?"
