Chapter 372
[Behind the scenes, it's probably way messier than this. What we're seeing is just the tip of the iceberg!]
[But she didn't seem too willing, and no woman would want a video like that online. I think she was set up!]
[She's the daughter of the Chambers family. Do you even know how powerful the Chambers family is in Thundertop? Do you think just anyone could set her up?]
Seeing the online comments trashing Jennifer, Eric was so mad he almost smashed his phone. "Dad, look at what they've done to Jennifer! I have to go get her back!"
Without waiting for Preston's reaction, Eric stormed out of the Chambers Estate. He sped all the way and soon arrived at the hotel.
But just as he was about to enter, Felix's men stopped him. "Mr. Chambers, Mr. Clinton has ordered that no one is allowed into the hotel tonight."
Eric sneered, "Tell Felix that if he doesn't release Jennifer, I'll blow this whole thing up, and no one will be able to protect him then!"
"Mr. Chambers, you need serious clout to make threats. Do you think you have that kind of clout?"
"Fine! Just you wait!" He pulled out his phone and made a call, coldly saying, "Bring some people to the Grand Hotel immediately!"
Soon, his guys showed up with over a hundred men and surrounded the Grand Hotel.
Eric ordered, "Attack! We must rescue Jennifer tonight!"
His men started to charge forward, but within ten minutes, Felix's men had subdued them, and Eric was dragged before Felix.
Due to the earlier chaos, Eric's clothes and hair were a mess, and he was thrown to the ground, looking utterly defeated.
Eric threatened, "Felix, if you don't release Jennifer, the Chambers family won't let you off!"
Even if Felix had someone powerful backing him, Eric wasn't scared!
Felix sat on the sofa, looking down at the immobilized Eric with cold eyes. He mocked, "Do you think the Chambers family will stand up for you and Jennifer? Don't forget you're not the only heir to the Chambers Group."
Eric's face stiffened. It was true he wasn't the only heir.
Although his dad currently controlled the Chambers Group, his uncle was always eyeing the position. If anything happened to him, his uncle would immediately seize control from his dad.
Thinking of this, his agitated expression turned extremely grim. He couldn't confront Felix directly now, or he'd lose everything.
Felix said, "Mr. Chambers, it seems you've come to your senses. Now that you have, you can leave."
Eric was silent for a few seconds before suddenly kneeling in front of Felix. "Mr. Clinton, Jennifer is still young and acts recklessly. She's already been punished. Please, show some mercy and let her go!"
Felix's cold gaze fell on him, and he said word by word, "Who do you think you are to ask me to let her go?"
If he hadn't arrived in time, it would have been Constance being violated in that room. Jennifer deserved what she got.
Eric said, "Mr. Clinton, if Miss Drake knew what you did, she would think you're cruel. I'm begging you, let Jennifer go this once. I promise to keep her in line and not let her go against Miss Drake again!"
Felix's eyes narrowed dangerously as he stared at him coldly. "Are you threatening me?"
"No, I'm begging you!" Eric kept his head down, eyes burning with humiliation and hatred. He'd remember this day forever. One day, he'd make Felix kneel and beg!
Felix was about to speak when the door suddenly opened, and Constance walked out, looking pale.
Seeing her cold expression, Felix's heart sank. "Constance."
Constance didn't even glance at him, just looked at the kneeling Eric. "Mr. Chambers, were you involved in tonight's incident?"
Eric's body trembled, and he quickly shook his head. "I didn't know. Jennifer acted on her own. I had no idea she hated you this much. I'm sorry."
Constance pursed her lips and said indifferently, "Let Jennifer go."
Felix frowned but nodded. "Alright, you go rest."
"Okay."
After Constance went back into the room, Felix looked at the still-kneeling Eric, his voice full of warning. "If Jennifer does anything to harm Constance again, I'll make sure she pays for this!"
Eric remained kneeling, his heart pounding in his chest. He watched as Felix turned and left the room, his footsteps echoing in the hallway. It was only then that Eric realized he was drenched in cold sweat.Even though he hated Felix and Constance, he knew he didn't have the power to retaliate yet. He had to bide his time until he could deliver a fatal blow!
Felix's men escorted Eric to a room and then left.
Hearing the sounds from inside, Eric clenched his fists and suddenly pushed the door open. He walked in, grabbed the bloodied man, and threw him to the ground, stomping on his most vulnerable spot.
The man screamed and passed out.
Eric ignored him and coldly said with his back to Jennifer, "Get dressed and come with me!"
Five minutes later, Jennifer came out in tattered clothes and said, "Eric, you have to avenge me! I hate Constance and Felix!"
Before she could finish, Eric slapped her. "Shut up! If you don't want to die, leave with me now!"
Thinking of how he had to kneel before Felix without any dignity because of her, Eric wanted to strangle her.
If it weren't for the 5% stake in the Chambers Group she held, he wouldn't have bothered with her at all!
Jennifer had never seen Eric look so terrifying. She shivered and felt wronged. But Eric ignored her and turned to leave.
She bit her lip and quickly followed. If she stayed, Felix wouldn't let her off easily.
Once in the car, Jennifer choked out, "Eric."
"Don't call me that. I don't have a stupid sister like you!" Eric's tone was full of impatience, and his gaze was icy. "Didn't you say that guy would never betray you?"
Jennifer felt even more wronged and cried, "I didn't know. Felix did this to me. I won't let him and Constance off!"
"Enough. You'd better behave and do nothing from now on, or no one will save you next time!"
Jennifer felt indignant but didn't dare to show it in front of Eric. She could only say pitifully, "I understand."
When they got home, Jennifer found out that the entire incident had been live-streamed, and now everyone was laughing at her. In a fit of rage, she smashed everything in her room. Once her anger subsided, a new fear gripped her—had Grant seen the video?
Her heart raced as she quickly dialed his number. "Grant," she stammered, her voice trembling.
"What is it?" Grant's voice was impatient.
Normally, Jennifer wouldn't mind, but after what she had been through today, his coldness made her break down. She asked, "Grant, do you know what happened to me today?"
