Chapter 388
Holly was caught off guard for a second, then eyed her suspiciously. "What do you mean?"
"Take your time to mull it over. If you need my help, just hit me up anytime." With that, Jennifer walked off, coffee in hand.
Holly stood there for what felt like forever, then sighed and left with her cup, totally forgetting to fill it with water.
Back at her desk, she just sat there, lost in thought. Could Constance really be out to get her? She didn't want to think that way about Constance, but Jennifer's words kept replaying in her head like a bad song.
Soon it was evening and time to leave work. When Constance came downstairs, Felix was already waiting by the door.
"Constance, I need to talk to you," Felix said,
Just as Constance was about to respond, her phone buzzed in her pocket. She answered, and Mira's voice came through, "Constance, Eliza just fainted. I can't reach anyone else. Can you come back?"
Constance's face fell, and she quickly said, "Call the family doctor. I'm on my way."
She hung up and turned to Felix. "Mr. Clinton, can you take me back to the Drake house? My mom just fainted."
"Of course."
When Constance and Felix got to the Drake house, the family doctor, Maurice Mitchell, had already hooked Eliza up to an IV.
Constance asked, "Maurice, how's my mom?"
"Nothing major, just low blood sugar," Maurice replied. "Has she not been eating well lately?"
Hearing this, guilt washed over Constance. Eliza must have been stressing about her and not eating properly.
Constance said, "I'll make sure she eats and sleeps better from now on."
"Good. She should wake up soon. I need to get back to the hospital; there's still work to do," Maurice said, packing up his things.
Constance nodded. "Thanks, Maurice."
After Maurice left, Constance sat by the bed. Seeing Eliza's pale face made her heart ache. She thought if she had noticed earlier that Eliza hadn't been eating well lately, this wouldn't have happened.
Remembering how Eliza hadn't eaten well but still made her quesadillas, Constance's eyes filled with tears. After a while, she asked the maid to keep an eye on her mom and went to the living room.
Felix was on the sofa, looking at documents on his phone. Hearing footsteps, he looked up and saw Constance. His tense expression softened. "How's Mrs. Drake?"
"Not great. The doctor said it's low blood sugar, and she hasn't woken up yet. I'm staying here tonight; you can go."
Felix had wanted to talk about Delilah, but now wasn't the time. He stood up and nodded. "Alright, call me if anything comes up."
"Will do."
After seeing Felix out, Constance went back inside.
Meanwhile, Bella had just turned on her phone to call Felix when a call from the private detective came in. She answered, and whatever the detective said made Bella's face go pale.
Bella asked, "Are you sure about this?"
"Absolutely, Miss Redstone. I have no reason to lie."
Bella gripped her phone tightly, teeth clenched. "I'll transfer the payment. If I hear anything about this, you're done!"
"Don't worry, Miss Redstone. My lips are sealed."
Hanging up, Bella bit her lip, thinking, 'Lauren's pregnant and didn't tell me! Ever since Daisy's kid got that mental disability, Julian's been losing interest in her. But until I got to Thundertop, Lauren didn't show any signs of being pregnant or wanting another kid.'
'The only reason they'd keep it from me is if Lauren's having a boy, and they want him to take over Redstone Group! I thought once I dealt with Jared, Redstone Group would be mine. But now Lauren and Julian are planning another kid behind my back! After Gianna's death, Felix took back LR Design Studio. If I lose Redstone Group too, I'll have nothing left.'
Bella made a firm determination in her mind, 'That kid can't be born!'
Around ten at night, Eliza finally woke up. Seeing Constance by the bed, she was surprised. "Constance, what are you doing here?"
As she tried to sit up, Constance quickly helped her. "Mom, have you not been eating well lately? You fainted, and Maurice had to give you an IV. He said you have low blood sugar."
Eliza looked a bit stunned. "I haven't had much of an appetite lately."
"Is it because of me?"
Eliza sighed, "Yes, thinking about you being with Felix for three months worries me." She was scared Constance would fall for Felix again and get hurt.
Constance pressed her lips together. "Mom, don't worry. I won't be with him. I'll come back after three months."
"Okay, I believe you."
Constance said, "If you believe me, then you have to eat well from now on. I was scared to death when I got Mira's call!"
Seeing Constance's worried face, Eliza held her hand and reassured her, "You don't need to worry about me. I never miss my annual check-ups, so my health is fine. They're just overreacting."
"Low blood sugar is no joke; it can be really dangerous. I made some porridge in the kitchen. I'll go get it."
A few moments later, Constance returned with a steaming bowl of porridge. Realizing she hadn't eaten much today and now feeling quite hungry with Constance by her side, Eliza took the porridge and started eating. After finishing the bowl, she felt much better.
Just then, Timothy rushed into the bedroom. "Eliza, how are you? I just got off the plane and heard you fainted."
Seeing his travel-worn appearance, Eliza couldn't help but complain, "I'm fine. Go take a shower. You've been on a business trip for a week; haven't you bathed?"
"I was in Aetheria for a project. You know the conditions there; I couldn't bathe every day."
Constance stood up, teasing, "Dad, Mom, I'll leave you two alone."
With that, Constance quickly left.
Watching her go, Eliza laughed and said, "She's always been smart, and now she's even teasing us."
Timothy chuckled, "I haven't seen you in days. I have so much to tell you."
Eliza said, "Good, I have something to tell you too."
"What is it?"
Eliza replied, "Constance wants to regain her old memories."
Timothy's smile froze, and his eyebrows furrowed. "Does she still want to be with Felix?"
"No, she doesn't want to lose her other memories just because of Felix, so she wants to regain them."
As soon as she finished speaking, Timothy said coldly, "No! I don't agree with this!" If she regained her memories, Constance might soften towards Felix again.
