Chapter 272
After shooting off the message, Felix got this weird feeling and quickly added another line: [I'll come pick you up!]
A few minutes later, Gianna finally hit him back: [Okay.]
Just one word, but Felix's heart was pounding like crazy. He felt more pumped than when he closed his first big deal.
Clock hit quitting time, and Felix snagged the keys from the driver, heading over to MY FASHION to wait for Gianna.
After chilling for over half an hour, Gianna suddenly texted: [When will you arrive?]
Felix called her right away, "Gianna, I'm downstairs right now."
Gianna frowned, packing her stuff while heading out, "When did you get here? Why didn't you tell me?"
"I've been here for like half an hour. Thought you were busy, so I figured I'd just wait."
"Okay, I'm taking the elevator now. See you in a sec."
Five minutes later, Gianna hopped in the car.
"Let's roll." Felix started the car and merged into traffic, eyes glued to the road, driving in silence.
They hadn't seen or talked to each other for a week, so the vibe in the car was kinda awkward.
"You..."
"Today..."
They both started talking at the same time, then stopped and looked at each other.
Felix gripped the steering wheel tighter, "You go first."
"Did you have something to tell me today?"
"Not much, just wanted to see where your head's at."
Gianna bit her lip, "What do you think about it?"
"I don't wanna break up."
With that, the car went dead silent again.
They didn't say another word until they got to the restaurant.
After ordering, Felix looked at Gianna.
"Gianna, I really don't wanna be apart from you. I know I've messed up a lot and let you down. I hope you can give me another shot."
Gianna looked at him, "I know you were talking to Bella 'cause she saved Natalie and Ximena, but I can't deal with her being all up in our business."
"I'm sorry!" Felix said.
"I didn't come here today to hear you say sorry. I've been thinking a lot these past few days. I still love you, but if you keep seeing Bella, I don't know how long this love will last. When my feelings for you run out, I'm gone."
Felix's face changed, "I won't let that day come!"
Gianna looked at him seriously, "You said before you'd cut her off. I hope you mean it."
Felix grabbed her hand, "I promise, I'll find another way to repay her."
After making up, Gianna moved back to the villa.
But Felix still felt uneasy. They were just dating, and Gianna could dump him anytime.
Especially since he was hiding the fact that they hadn't finalized their divorce. If she found out, she might really leave him.
Felix thought long and hard and finally came up with a plan.
He decided to propose to Gianna!
If she said no, he'd just keep asking until she said yes!
Felix was a man of action. He immediately hit up James to buy Gianna's favorite top-quality champagne roses. He was gonna pop the question.
James was stoked when he heard, thinking Felix was finally stepping up, and he called to order the flowers right away.
On the flip side, Garrett had someone drop off meds at MY FASHION every day.
Seeing this go down so often, Faith couldn't help but tease Gianna, "Didn't think Felix was such a sweetheart, having someone bring you meds daily. But didn't you just have a check-up last month and everything was cool? Is this stuff loaded with progesterone or something?"
Gianna was caught off guard and shot her a look, "Doc said I'm weak. This is to beef me up."
Faith gave her a once-over, nodding thoughtfully, "Yeah, with your frame, you probably can't handle Felix."
After downing the meds, she looked at Faith and said, "The meds are from a friend of mine who's a doctor. Nothing to do with Felix."
Faith raised an eyebrow, "Such a thoughtful friend, huh? Is it a guy?"
Gianna looked exasperated, "Does it matter if it's a guy or a girl?"
"If it's a guy, Felix would totally flip."
"He wouldn't sweat the small stuff."
Faith laughed, "Don't be so sure."
Gianna handed her the signed docs, "Alright, get back to work."
She didn't expect Faith's words to hit home so fast.
When she got back to the villa that evening, she saw Felix had already whipped up dinner. Gianna was surprised, "What's the occasion? Why'd you cook?"
Felix silently served her a bowl of soup, "Try it, see how it tastes."
Gianna took a sip and frowned, "Why does it taste like medicine?"
Felix smiled, "I added some herbs. Makes the soup more nutritious."
Hearing this, Gianna knew Felix had found out about Garrett sending her meds every day.
She put down the bowl, feeling a headache coming on, "Who told you?"
"Who told me doesn't matter. What's important is why you're letting Garrett send you meds when you're weak. That should be my job."
"Are you jealous?" Gianna asked.
"Shouldn't I be?" Felix shot back.
Gianna was taken aback, "No, I just bumped into him at the hospital last time. He said I had lost a lot of weight and gave me a check-up, saying I needed to take meds to get stronger."
Felix looked at her coolly, "Then why didn't you bring the meds back yourself? Why does he have to send them every day? Garrett's so busy, would he really care that much about an unimportant patient?"
Gianna frowned, "I disagree with you. Every patient is important. Why am I unimportant? And it's not him delivering the meds, it's the hospital staff."
"What's the difference? Why don't you tell me why Garrett treats you differently than others? Did you know each other before?" Felix pressed.
Gianna didn't expect him to be so sharp and quickly said, "I met him four years ago when he treated your leg. And when Natalie was poisoned, I also asked him for help. Did you forget?"
"He's a renowned doctor, and he just happens to be available whenever you need him? Isn't that a bit fishy?"
Gianna felt a bit guilty.
"That's because he happened to be free. Otherwise, he wouldn't have bothered with me," Gianna replied.
Felix took a deep breath and spoke as calmly as possible, "Gianna, when you're with him, you seem very familiar, like old friends. Are you sure you only met him four years ago when you sought treatment for my leg?"
