Chapter 141 Are You Looking for a Fight?
"Margaret, how dare you hit me?" Sarah yelled, covering her face as she got up from the ground.
Margaret sneered, "You came looking for trouble, didn't you? Sarah, I'm warning you, don't mess with me!"
"You!" Sarah raised her hand, ready to slap her.
Margaret grabbed her wrist quickly, smirking. "Remember when you used to follow me around like a lost puppy just to be my friend? Have you forgotten how I dunked you in the fountain outside the hospital not too long ago?"
"Margaret, shut up!" Sarah's face turned red as she struggled to break free, but Margaret's grip was too strong.
Margaret suddenly let go, causing Sarah to stumble and almost fall, but she managed to grab the glass door handle.
"My trump card now is the baby in my womb. You can't afford to mess with me! Behave yourself and stop causing trouble." Margaret turned to leave.
Sarah's voice rang out from behind, "You're so pathetic. You have terminal liver cancer, and Raymond still wants you to have a baby? He really doesn't love you!"
Margaret stopped in her tracks and turned to look at her, saying, "How do you know?"
"It's not just me who knows, Raymond is aware as well. Unfortunately, in his quest for vengeance, he no longer cares about your survival. Do you think he values the child you're carrying? Not at all; he merely wants to find new ways to torment you until you perish!"
Margaret asked, "You said Raymond knows?"
Sarah said, "He told me himself that you have cancer. If he didn't know, how would I?"
Margaret was stunned and shocked. She blinked her dry eyes and left blankly.
So he knew everything!
She thought he cared about the baby, but it was just her wishful thinking!
This was just his way of torturing her.
Margaret didn't drive; she wandered aimlessly down the street.
They were so in love once. What did she do wrong? How unlucky was she to end up with a husband like Raymond!
Suddenly, it started to snow.
She remembered the first time she met Raymond, it also started to snow suddenly.
Pedestrians on the street quickly opened their umbrellas.
The cold wind cut her face like a knife.
Her fingers trembled uncontrollably.
Tears streamed down her face.
She knew this would happen, but facing it still broke her heart!
Suddenly, her body started to ache, as if a snake was biting her fiercely from the inside.
Margaret squatted down, her shoulders shaking uncontrollably.
She spat a mouthful of blood onto the tiled street.
"Mrs. Hughes, are you okay?" A large hand suddenly supported her shaky body.
Through her tear-blurred vision, she saw Daniel in a suit, holding a black umbrella.
"I'll take you to the hospital," Daniel said, about to lift her.
Margaret thought of Raymond at the hospital and knew it would cause trouble if he saw her.
She quickly stepped back and waved her hand, saying, "No need. Mr. Taylor, could you please open my handbag?"
Daniel picked up her handbag and unzipped it. Ather request, he took out an unmarked plastic bottle, opened it, and handed it to Margaret.
Margaret's hands trembled as she poured a handful of pills into her mouth.
Daniel went to a nearby store, bought a bottle of water, opened it, and handed it to her. He said with concern, "Mrs. Hughes, have some water."
She thanked him and drank.
The water washed away the bitterness in her mouth, bringing back some sensation.
"Mrs. Hughes, you really should go to the hospital. Your health is super important," Daniel said, worried.
Margaret felt a sudden warmth in her heart, realizing a harsh truth; A stranger cared more about her than her own husband did!
But she couldn't blame Raymond entirely. It was The Hughes Family's mess, and as their only daughter, she had to deal with it.
Even so, she felt disappointed and heartbroken.
Daniel called her name softly a few times before she snapped back to reality.
When he suggested the hospital again, she forced a bitter smile, "No need, I know my health condition. Mr. Taylor, what brings you here?"
"I just finished negotiating a contract and happened to pass by. I saw your silhouette and decided to get out of the car. To my surprise, it really was you." Daniel held the umbrella for her, a smile playing on his lips. "Where do you live? Let me take you home."
Margaret said, "No need to trouble you."
Daniel said, "It's no trouble. It's snowing heavily, and it's hard to get a cab now. Mrs. Hughes, don't worry. I know you're married, and I won't do anything inappropriate. I help any friend in need."
"Then I'll trouble you, Mr. Taylor."
"Don't mention it, Ms. Hughes."
Margaret got into a business car with Daniel.
The driver was someone Margaret didn't know, probably one of his subordinates.
In the car, Daniel crossed his legs casually and looked at her. "Ms. Hughes, I haven't seen you at the Hughes Group lately. Did you change jobs?"
Margaret said, "No, I'm pregnant and resting at home."
Daniel said, "That's good news that you and Raymond are getting along."
Margaret didn't respond. Many people congratulated her on her pregnancy.
Only she knew that being pregnant meant she would disappear faster.
"Mr. Taylor, have you found out anything about the mute boy?"
Daniel said, "It's been a long time, and there's still no news."
"Could you please speed up the investigation? I want to meet him as soon as possible," Margaret said, feeling anxious as she thought about her impending death.
Daniel replied, "Sure."
What they didn't know was that Raymond's car was already parked at the apartment entrance!
Just as he was about to get out, Robert called.
Raymond answered while unbuckling his seatbelt.
"Mr. Howard, the results of the medicine you asked me to test are out."
"Is it for treating a terminal illness?" Raymond's grip on the phone tightened.
Mr. Walker said in a respectful and certain tone, "No, it's just a bottle of regular vitamins. It looks and smells like cancer medication, but it's not. Someone must have made it to look that way!"
Raymond asked, "Are you sure?"
"Mr. Howard, I wouldn't dare lie to you. If I couldn't even identify a bottle of vitamins, how could I work for you?"
Raymond hung up, his face darkened. So it was all an act!
Everything was fake!
He had taken Margaret's medicine for testing, and it turned out to be vitamins?
Who gave her the guts to deceive him like this?
Just as Raymond was about to open the car door, he saw a business car parked across the street.
He then saw Margaret get out of the car, followed by Daniel, who handed her the handbag she had left behind.
Daniel held the umbrella mostly over Margaret, looking at her with such gentle eyes.
A surge of anger burned in Raymond's heart. These two were still in contact!
